Came to Am Donuts at 9am donuts were not fresh they taste bitter, coffee pot wasn’t hot they didn’t have sugar or any coffee flavors that they have displayed on the menu. I wouldn’t be going back.

I’m kind of a fanatic about donuts. I have a Unilocal list JUST for donut stores. I live in the Northwest but have been known to drive all the way to White Lane at odd hours of the night to pay a visit to the 24 hour donut shop. So when I discovered AM Donuts on my way to church this morning I felt like Indiana Jones finding a lost treasure. A donut shop in Bakersfield I was previously unaware of? How could such a thing exist. I parked in the lot and whipped out my Unilocal app. Uh-oh, this place has horrible ratings. But, wait, many of these reviews are YEARS old and according to the review written by the new owner(serious Unilocal faux pas, you can’t review your own shop– though she only gave herself a 2 star rating so I guess she REALLY doesn’t understand how Unilocal works) they were under new ownership as of 2014 so the reviews before that don’t really count. There are two recent reviews. The 1 star review from yesterday complains vociferously about the fact they don’t have sandwiches — I can overlook that one. The other, a one star review from four months ago, complains that all the donuts are a day old. Really? Did you try them all? Now I’m on a mission. I don’t know whether it is to redeem the honor of this poor donut store that can’t seem to get a fair shake on Unilocal or to pound the final nail into their coffin. I head in, noticing that the windows are a little dirty, there are no hours of operation posted, and there is a neon sign advertising coffee and donuts and declaring that they are open 24 hours. Hmmmm… filing that away for future reference. There are three large display cases, two of which are filled with every type of donut imaginable. The third is filled with other bakery items. There are wedding cakes(or reasonable facsimiles) on the counter. This isn’t just a donut shop. It is a full on bakery. There are four little tables where people can sit and eat donuts. A young mother is sitting at one; her daughter is playing on the floor(not super sanitary, but who am I to judge). I order a glazed donut and head out to the car and drive on towards church. I park and open the white paper bag. It certainly doesn’t LOOK like a day old donut. I squeeze it a little between my fingers. It feels soft and spongy like a donut should. I take a bite. I’m not saying this is the BEST donut I’ve ever had, but it is definitely a respectable showing. This is a tasty donut and now I wish I’d picked up a second one to make it a meal. So I guess I am defending their honor after all. I give them three stars for the donut. It is definitely a-ok. I want to give them a bonus star for being open 24 hours and for the donuts being relatively inexpensive. My glazed donut was only $ 0.75.(Bars are $ 0.85, large donuts $ 1.00) On the way out I noticed a sign saying they use«100% vegetable oil. No trans fats.» They’re worried about my health? Awwww, that wins them the bonus star.

Bakery that you can’t go grab a sandwich from, Why they call it a bakery? You need cheese, Meats and fresh bread with ready made breakfast like eggs and cheese home made style. Please change your policy, I will buy every day from you. Please do it :) you’re business will be busy and you make lots of money if you make it like a real bakery :)

Would give no stars if I could, went here to get some doughnuts and to my surprise they only had day old doughnuts, I guess they sell all them before making new ones lol. This place gets worse and worse, go across the street to Smiths Bakery

AM Donuts is fantastic. Their donuts are always fresh and the decorated cakes are some of the best I’ve seen. The owner, I think she is the owner, is so friendly and helpful. No more Fosters Donuts for our family… It’s AM Donuts all the way, all the time!!! Just ordered a birthday cake. I hope it tastes as good as the cakes look.

Stopped here in early morning to pick up donuts and sad to say that this visit was a disappointment. Previously, I had good experiences at this location but maybe it has changed management? Didn’t recognize any of the staff here and décor seemed different. Ordered 3 dozen. Donut portions were ample and price reasonable, but several of my customers remarked that the donuts were stale and some were even hard. Picked up from shop around 6:45am and handed out to folks by 7:45. Early enough that donuts should not have been leftovers and consumed early enough that they should have still been fresh. Hopefully, just caught them on an off day.

Good, Fast service. Most of the donuts are a generous size and its cheaper than Foster’s. However, Foster’s tastes much better.

Came here with my kiddos to pick up doughnuts for bible study. I waited until the last minute to get something of course and saw this place while driving so I stopped. I’m really glad I did. The gal that helped us so sweet! She gave me little bags so the boys could snack on some doughnut holes in the car. It was inexpensive for a dozen doughnuts and they were a hit. And a bonus, they are open 24 hours! Definitely coming back :)
