I just read previous reviews that have stated this store is clean, but there must be new management and workers now because this store is gross! The floors are so dirty(like they’ve used old mop water) and sticky. And towards the back of the store there was an interesting smell. I went in searching for one item and quickly walked back out the doors when they did not have it. No thanks!

I’m sorry, this is just not acceptable. I decided to the restroom, and this is what I found. If I found it in the restroom, imagine were else they could be. Yikes. I enjoy shopping here but for produce, not any more.

I stopped by for only four items… left with 16. I never leave with only a few, you always find things that you need, but didn’t realize on this list! They have a decent selection, if you’re there before the afternoon, there are more fruits available. :) It was quite busy on a Wednesday afternoon, and there were only two cashiers. I chose one line, which happened to go by slowly, but no one was pushy, so it was fine to wait. My cashier, Cathy, scanned my goods and stated my oregano was recalled. Unfortunately, her computer/register wouldn’t proceed and had to reboot. It took a several extra minutes, but she was quite pleasant and I was glad she wasn’t upset or rude.(I’ve gone to a few 99 cents stores and the cashier was awfully rude!)

This 99cent store is no different than the others in this town. However, this store is well kept, and clean! The only downside is the solicitors, literally many of them walking around the parking lot and asking for money. There is not a day that goes by when I went there and someone asked me for money. I’m broke as it is shopping at a 99cent store, how much else can I give to someone else? I mean I’m not stingy but If I really really had the money, I would donate. Let’s get real though economy isn’t the business and folks… the struggle is real! Anyway, this store has some good name brand items. It’s basically Thrift shopping when you arrive at this one. I mean I had to wait for my sister while she was taking classes at Bakersfield College, and I didn’t want to be far, and I most definitely needed some time to waste. I’m glad they have CVS next door though and if I needed to use the restroom it was easy access. lol Thrift shopping?! but sh! t it was 99cents!

My mom and I are both avid dollar store shoppers. Certain items are fantastic deals and certain items are not, it’s all about knowing the difference. For instance, I made this particular visit to pick up toothpaste and mouthwash. The 6 oz Crest, Colgate, and Aim toothpaste tubes are only $.99. The same size Crest and Colgate are $ 2.75 at Walmart, a savings of $ 1.76, but the same size Aim toothpaste at Walmart is only $.85 so if you purchase it at the 99 Cent Only Store you’re actually losing $.15. It’s like a game, and I intend to win every time. Part of the trick is to stick to name brands and know what the price points are elsewhere. The hardest part of the trick is sticking to what is actually on your list and not falling temptation to purchasing items you don’t need just because they’re so cheap. I like to buy fuzzy socks here at $.99 each; they appear to be good quality and have some cute designs, but I avoid the lime green fishnet stockings that are in the same aisle. I’m not arguing that $.99 cents wouldn’t be a good price for them, but how many people really NEED lime green fishnet stockings, anyway? Oh no… I think I here the distant clic of a car door shutting as someone races down to snag the last pair of fishnets. I like to pick up little toys for my classroom prize box. My students love the party favors like rings and spinning tops, but their favorite are the balloons. They go crazy over them and they cost next to nothing if you get them at the 99 Cents Only Stores. The candy selection here is huge and includes many brand names, but I try to stay away from that aisle. Come on down and check this place out.
