Stewart Street Cafe

I love Stewart Street Café. Their french fries are the best. Burger isn’t half bad either. I love the homey small feel of it and we are always treated like family when we go eat there. :)

At first glance one might think he’s found a hidden gem but I’ve been there several times now and I find myself questioning the cleanliness and hygiene of the place. The smoking and non smoking areas have no sealed separation so the smell of cigarettes permeates the place. My biggest complaint is that the Uni-​sex bathroom is right in the center between the two dining areas. Directly across from the door to the bathroom is the waitresses prep station where place settings and drink refills are headquartered. The bathroom is a small residential type bathroom, sans the tub. It is tidy but not clean by my standard and the fact that all noxious odors have nowhere to go but into the dining room is rather disgusting.

It’s ok, but just ok. Looks like it was a house converted into a little café that I would bet has been here quite a while. Looking at the regulars there I would say they don’t see too many strangers. I felt like I walked into a bit of a time warp.
We had breakfast, which was fine. They have smoking and non-​smoking sections, which some folks will like and others won’t.
Maybe in 20 years I can see myself in a place like this talking about the weather over daily coffee with a bunch of old friends, but I don’t think I will be going back right away. Not bad, just, in my opinion, not as good as the other options nearby.

Small, rustic, hidden small town diner. Very, very small. But cozy. Friendly. Smoking/​Non-​Smoking seating available but the whole place smells like smoke because of the small size. Didn’t bother me, though. Food was home cooking at it’s best. Will be back.

The Boss and I had a late breakfast at this rustic little out of the way place. We had heard that the fried green tomatoes were special and we were not disappointed The batter was crispy and light and had a touch of cornmeal. We had a standard two egg breakfast with bacon. This is home style cookin!
