Headed to Azle, TX. to do some X-Mas shopping at Wally World and thought we would get some BBQ at Mark Deans first… I have eaten here before(couple of years back) for lunch and remembered the food was good but a bit pricey… Checked out the menu and ordered, girl at counter was friendly and we paid and sat down to wait on food… food arrived and was only lukewarm, kind of reminded me of microwaved leftover BBQ, Beans were good tasting but mostly liquid and served in very small Styrofoam cup… so for the $ 30 we spent I felt we got a meal of leftovers… also upon sitting down we decided to change tables due to ceiling fan blowing on better half who gets cold everywhere(no fault here of Mark Deans) unfortunately when we got up wifes purse was left hanging on the chair… in around 5 minutes we realized the purse was not with us and we then went to the original table(not there) and then counter to ask… thankfully it had been placed behind the counter… this is where I would normally compliment a business on the honesty of the employees… but the girls behind the counter seemed disappointed and reluctant to return the purse… but did… everything was in it… I then wondered why us we as well as others that were sitting literally within 10ft from where the purse was found were not asked if the purse belonged to anyone… maybe I’m wrong here but a feeling of if the purse was not claimed they would just keep it came to mind… all in all a bad experience… we will not be going back. Got chop beef sandwiches and ribs. Chop beef was burnt, dry and almost unedible. The ribs were so dry they don’t make enough bbq sauce to make them worth eating. I Will never waste my money here again!!!

Normally have a good experince. Tonight our waiter was great but took over hour to get our meal. The manager insisited it was the waiters fault but our waiter did nothing wrong, he put in our order promptly. Manager insisted onbarguing it was the waiters faukt and berated him in front of patrons. This is a management issue in proritizing who was served first. Will not return.

Always seems to be crowded in the evenings, but I’ve only done drive through during the afternoon. The portions are large and expensive(except the tea to go is quite small)… Menu is missing a few things you would think it would have… Like Mac n cheese(I’m ordering for a 10 yr old too). The food is adequate, but drive through is really slow… Even to answer. Not just in delivery of food.

The BBQ at this place is not tasty at all. I’ve given this place many chances, but they fall short every time. Salty and tough. The pulled pork is not much better. I don’t understand the runny BBQ sauce either. Doesn’t stick to any of the meat and makes the bun very soggy. This is at the bottom of my list for favorite Bbq joints. I will only go if someone else is paying!

Ate lunch here yesterday. The only thing that tasted good was the kid’s French fries. I had the turkey lunch plate, and it looked and tasted like thin sliced deli meat that they may have stored in the smoker for a little bit. My husband had the ribs, and they were tough and pretty flavorless. I ended up being hungry after the small portions on the lunch plate and figured I would try the chopped brisket sandwich. It was super greasy, and though it tasted ok, it didn’t taste like smoked bbq– just like greasy burnt ends. The kiddo’s corn dog and fries was fine. Even the iced tea had a funky flavor to it, like the containers needed a good cleaning. Won’t be eating there again.

I just picked up a chopped beef sandwich, an order of onion rings and an order of corn nuggets. Although the lady that helped me was very nice the food was totally awful. The sandwich bun was full of grease from the meat and the meat was all salt. I don’t know where Mark Dean is from but this is NOTTEXASBARBEQUE! It was served with what I suspect is ranch dressing not barbeque sauce. I couldn’t even eat anything but the chicken nuggets. They were passable. Everything is in the garbage now. It is much better there.

Really good! In our group we got thumbs up on Chicken Fried Steak, chopped brisket sandwiches & fried pickles. Ice & drinks tasted like lake water or another star would be added.

I love this place. They have an amazing menu item called Azle Fries which are fresh french fries, jalapeños, cheese, and grilled onions. I also really like their catfish. You can save time and go through the drive thru which is really neat!

When I’m craving BBQ this is my favorite place to get BBQ. They have good food for good prices. I love the chopped BBQ, I get 4 lbs and potato salad with beans and feed my whole family.

I’ve been here twice and wasn’t completely impressed with the food. Service and ambiance were southern and fun, but the food was just«eh». I bit into a fried cheese stick, and git a mouth full of grease. No cheese. Just breading, and a literal whole mouthful of grease.

Just good olé fashioned GROSS! The bbq sauce is super sweet. The place needs to be dusted and degreased throughout !! The relish bar is somewhat decent. Waitresses are fairly nice, but in their attempt to smell fresh and not like a bbq pit, they wear a stomach turning amount of perfume and smelly goods! Ick!

Well, I tried it 2 times now, same result. Dont get the chopped bbq. I got the family order to go, and after I drained the grease off I made up some sandwiches for the gang. Then we all went to the trash can and threw them out. I dont know what is in the sauce, or if it was just real old, but it was not good. I had sliced brisket last time, and it was not good. I figured you couldn’t really screw up chopped, but you can. I have heard that the non bbq menu items are good, but the sign says BBQ.

If you want a decent chicken fried steak or catfish dinner this place is great! But the sign out front says BBQ and that is where this establishment falls short. I love beef ribs but these are so greasy and poorly trimmed that they will literally make you sick. The brisket is too dry to eat without a drink or some sauce and the sauce is too sweet. I think this place should drop the BBQ moniker and just call themselves a café. There are much better BBQ options in this area.

you’re kidding right? because I thought surely you wouldnt actually present a customer with lunch meat thin turkey and a small cup of beans advertised as a lunch«special» for 7DOLLARS. that did include a drink with free refills though. a true bargain.

Stop by for lunch, got a sliced beef jerky sandwich and onion rings. The Brisket had some smoky flavor but it was chewy and dry. I don’t like bbq joints that don’t slice up the meat in front of you. Tried adding some sauce. That didn’t help. The sauce is way to sweet. Moved on to the 4 $ onion rings. They were a disappointment. Onion rings should be flaky and crispy. These were dipped in bread crumbs. I don’t care for this type of ring. The menu is way to big. They need to change into a café. Or specialize in bbq only with a few sides. I would not recommend ordering bbq at this café.

Neat little décor and atmosphere! A country town feel. Wide variety of food– so everyone can be happy! BBQ sandwiches are small but good. Ribs are good. Chicken fried steak, burgers, catfish. So much! The Azle Fries are a MUSTTRY! You’ll crave them. Get extra cheese on them. Great stick hush puppies too! Catfish is in nuggets with a crunchy, cornmeal batter. We ask them to cook it extra crisp!!!

This place was a surprising find… brisket sandwich + schooner of blue moon = 8 bucks! The packed brisket sandwich was great and the beers were cheap… Schooners 2.50 and mugs were 1.50 draft. The BBQ sauce was a bit different than the normal tangy/spicy ones you find all over Texas, as it was a little sweet. A good complement to the tender brisket once I got started. The staff was great and super helpful. The decorations were top-notch for a BBQ place with plenty of seating. and you’ve gotta love the neon sign arrow to the restrooms… «2 P « Worth the drive to try out… I will be back!

It’s odd that they don’t have lunch baskets for everything except the sliced beef sandwich but, even by itself, it’s excellent.
