Every time I come out here, it’s an awesome time! Various bands play in about 45 minute increments starting at 6 pm on Wednesday nights. I love sitting under the oaks next to the lake, maybe by a firepit, listening to great musicians. $ 5 donation, bring your own beverage of choice, and there’s food for sale and other craft vendors. Plenty of parking in the nearby grassy areas.

I only wish I’d known about this place sooner! What a great place to spend a Wednesday evening, listening to great music and enjoying a cold beverage. We went to the Barn Jam this week and really had a blast. The music was great – we loved that the bands were so eclectic – and it’s just a beautiful space. I’ve never seen a venue like this and so much support for local and regional bands. We can’t wait to go back. Give it a try – I dare you not to have a great time(just remember it’s BYOB, so don’t forget a nicely stocked cooler!).

Did you have a case of the Mondays? Well grind out Tuesday and cruise up to Awendaw Green on Hump Day! This place is a blast, especially with a big group of friends. I’ve been coming here for a few years now and every time gets better and better. My mind is so jumbled as to were I should start on explaining this place, so just bear with me. We’ll get through this together. To start, there are two huge fields to park in. The fields are all grass. So if by chance it starts raining towards the end of the evening, you aren’t tromping through mud and sloppy puddles on your way back to your car. It is always only a 5 dollar entry fee. You can bring you’re own beer, food, chairs, candles, blankets, etc… What ever you need or want to make your evening comfy. The place does have picnic tables and seating but if you want to claim them, I would get there a bit early to scope out your spot and claim it with your coolers and goodies. This place is dog friendly, and kid friendly. There are a ton of toys and play things for the kids. They also have very reasonably priced concession stands with burgers, brots, pizza, soda, chips, etc… and from time to time, they will have local businesses set up booths like a fair to graze over and shop for fun little things. In the evening, they set up little bon fires all around the grounds. So if you love cuddling with your companion or enjoy the warmth and glow, find a seat close to one of their pits. When you’re ready to hang a wire, they have plenty of porta johns for relief and a table with huge bottles of hand sanitizer. They usually book 3 or 4 bands each Wednesday. Most bands are local or traveling around. The music is all genres, from bluegrass, to alternative, to rock, to poetic. Some bands suck, some are great. But that’s the fun of it, you just never know until you’re there. There are friendly goats walking around the grounds that you can pet and intrigue the minds of the children that are frolicking around trying to catch lightening bugs. Side note: When you go, just be prepared. Bring a long sleeve t-shirt, some bug spray, or citronella candles. The skeeters can get annoying on certain nights. If you have kids, pay attention to them. It’s usually a big crowd and kids get excited quickly here and may find themselves lost in the shuffle. Also, if you forgot something from home, don’t be bothered. Just across the field you park in is the SeeWee OutPost gas station and large convenient store that has everything you need. Beer, food, ice, chairs, flashlights, bug spray, etc… Well, I hope to see you all there after reading this so you can give me a high five because I’m correct when I say that this place is a blast!

I dig this place… a hidden, local treasure on Wednesday nights(well, when it isn’t cold as heck outside). Wednesday’s is their Barn Jam… they bring in a ton of really talented, musicians… and usually an eclectic group at that. Pack up a cooler with brews and snacks… bc it is BYOB. And don’t forget your chair, so you can really soak up the experience. The concert is under the cover of some beautiful SC oaks in a good ol’ fashion barn stage. They typically have bon fires burning, pizza if you forget a snack(or just want some really good pizza), great tunes, and solid people. If you get a chance when it warms up, give it a Wednesday. You won’t regret it.

This place is so groovy. Bring our own beer, order a pizza or a cheese burger, sit back and enjoy the music every Wednesday. Every Wednesday this place is alive with different kinds of music(emphasis on different). The philosophy of this concert area is to support different kinds of music. The night I went, I listened to two acoustic country bands and a closing band from Myrtle beach that sounded similar to System Of A Down. Everything about the venue yells community as well. And in our current society where it’s all too easy for us to become isolated and shut out from the world, going to Awendaw Green reminds you that good people exist, that good food exists, and that music that doesn’t play on your ipod exists.

I just had the opportunity to play here on my last tour and it was a great experience. Will definitely be coming back on the next go round and if I were a local I’d be here fairly often! check out the vendors, especially Woody’s knives, we couldn’t resist buying one.

Great music venue! It was a fun and inviting crowd. Local artists every Wednesday night — $ 5 admission. I believe there were 5 groups/artists scheduled last night. The first — Dean Johanesen — was excellent! The second group not so much, third didn’t show so Dean played an encore which was great. 4th group also very good but we left before their set was done. So,… talent is hit or miss but still a good time. Crowd was small early on, but filled up quickly. Lots of outdoor seating and picnic tables. There is some food(pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs) for sale. We brought a small cooler with some beverages with us and bought some food. Next time, thing we’ll bring a meal/sandwiches and drinks and sit at one of the picnic tables and enjoy the show. We’ll be back!

Say goodbye to getting anything done on Wednesday evenings. I have been wanting to go check out Barn Jam litterally for years down at Awendaw Green. I even had a friend play there one night which I obviously would have gone to but had already committed to an evening of volunteering… boring. Some friends of mine were recently religious about going to Barn Jam on Wednesdays so this week I made it out there. What an amazing group of people who put this together. I think it would be impossible to not have fun out here. It used to be free with donations accepted but has changed to a $ 5 cover, which I will gladly pay to do whatever I can to keep this gem going. I even got to watch a pregnant goat just chow down on paper like it was her job! This is one of those place you almost want to keep to yourself so nobody ruins it, but I ain’t stingy — come enjoy. Make sure to BYOB though cause I only brought enough beer for me.

Awendaw Green has become one of my favorite places to go. Wednesday nights they have talented musicians from all over the country come and play live music. It’s only $ 5 to get in and it’s BYOB. Fire pits are strategically placed throughout the place to help keep you warm and to push away any bugs that may be in the vicinity. Food vendors set up on the side to provide delicious wood fire pizza, hot dogs, and burgers. Chairs, picnic tables and other seats are all in place so you don’t even need to worry about about bringing anything to sit on. Swings, a spinning carousel, a sand box and other items to keep your child busy and entertained are all provided and on site.
