The Little Wine Shop

I love this little store! They have a very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and while it’s not an enormous shop that has everything, they have an outstanding selection of wines in the $ 20 — $ 40 range. This is a great place to stop by and pick up something to take to a party.

I have never stopped at this cute little shop before this past Friday. Honestly, when they first opened a few years ago, they had some wines for tasting at an AE event and I didn’t care for what I tasted, so it turned me off. Big mistake on my first impression indeed.
It’s the nicest looking building in «downtown» Avondale Estates (yes that’s the full name of the town, people, we aren’t putting on airs). If only AE had more places like this, it would be my dream town.
Ok, so the place looks good outside and in and walking in, it has a great feel too. Very simple and nicely laid out. I believe it must have been the owner «on duty» when I stopped by to pick up a quick «wine gift.»
I observed as he helped two women select the perfect wine for their dinner and he patiently and simply explained what to expect from the wines and steered them away from their usual pinot grigio (which he had) into something different. They seemed excited to try a new wine.
When he described a wine as «minerally» tasting to the women and they were like whuh? He said, «I can only say it’s like having pebbles in your mouth in a good way» none of that snobby superior wine attitude here. I loved that description because I knew exactly what he meant and could even «taste» it in my memory.
In that moment, I fell in love with this place. I picked something out myself (in a bit of a rush) but in the future I’ll consult with him — and I’ll definitely attend one of their tastings next time.
Bonus — they have fun and necessary wine accessories — corkscrews, pourers, stoppers, and others. They don’t sell glasses (except «plastics») but this dear fellow actually gave me a couple of promo glasses for my «welcome to the neighborhood» gift.
Okay, I’m yours now! Can’t wait for my next visit.

I ran in to grab a bottle of wine and the customer service was amazing. I’m happy to have such a wonderful shop in my neighborhood.

Not the biggest selection of wine, but a very thoughtful one. The very knowledgeable salesmen helped us pick out a few bottles to bring to Antico (which is B.O.B.) ranging from $ 12 – 25. And of course a bottle of sparkling rose’ to pre-​game.

Went here on a living social deal for a wine and cheese tasting, and it was one of the best experiences! The wine selections for the tasting were really varied and interesting, the staff was very knowledgeable, and the cheese and meat pairings by Kevin of the Spotted Trotter were really really amazing! This is a great spot to go for one of their many tasting events, or to grab a bottle of something special! We left saying we’ll be back at least once a month for one of their tastings, it was a fun way to meet new people and try new and unique wines! Such a gem of an establishment to have over on the East side of town!

One has to visit the shop to believe it. They’ve done incredible work on a beautiful building, creating a perfect environment for wine. Their inclusion of great bread and cheese makes it a perfect destination for grabbing a great evening’s shopping all in one stop, or just great wine overall. I can’t recommend it enough!

This wine shop, which just opened up in Avondale Estates, is a wonderful addition to the Atlanta Wine scene. I grew up in Avondale, and live near it too, so a wine shop makes my holiday shopping a lot easier.
When I walked in the door I was greeted by TLWS’s Wine Specialist, Marty Shaver. The first thing I noticed as Marty showed me around was that even though all of the wines looked delicious, the bottles average around $ 15 — $ 20. I brought that up to Marty and he said we understand the current consumer in this economy. We want to bring good wine to the community and we believe that it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg to do that.
They even have a wine of the month club where each month they have six new wines that you can buy as a package. That would make holiday party wine buying easier for me!
So, they believe in helping out their customers and they even have a cute event space upstairs for different wine tastings and any kind of wine tasting party you can think of. This place is adorable and I will be coming back here as soon as my next pay check comes in.
