Lifeline Animal Project

Rescued my pup from Fulton, which is run by Lifeline. They are very compassionate and really care about the animals. They’ve done so much to bring down the euthanasia rates in Atlanta and I hope they continue to do so. Great place to donate as they really can use all the support they can get. They receive so many intakes and need more and more room (plus better quality space) to support all the homeless pets. The dog I adopted from them is my best little buddy and I would not have found her if Fulton hadn’t picked her up and shared her story on Facebook. I’m a huge fan.

I was unable to take in another cat and Lifeline came to my rescue. They spayed the kitten that was frequenting my yard and did a full round of vaccinations for a fraction of the price of a private vet. They save lives. I feel so much better knowing that she’s protected from disease (at least for a year) but mostly that she won’t be getting in fights, mating and adding to the outdoor population. Please (if you’re able) support this place with your own pet’s needs but also with additional donations for the animals that aren’t as fortunate.

It is not open door, you have to look at the animals online and make an appointment to see the animal you want. Thats a good thing to know before coming. Also, it smells very strongly (yes i know «animals smell» but most animal shelters I’ve been to don’t smell that bad. Ive been to some that smell very clean) and its very cramped so dont come with small children who need a stroller.

I got my cat Normaus at Lifeline Animal Project and it was the best decision I have made in a long time. The people who worked here were extremely nice and helpful. My cat is FIV infected and in any other phacility he most likely would have been euthanized. I’m so glad that he ended up being saved by Lifeline and now into my life. Thank you LIfeline Animal Project.

Great facility, wonderful animals. I went here to look at foster dogs and got the best one (I’m thinking about adopting him!). A few days into keeping him, he sat on a bowl and broke it (dogs, right?) and I had to take him in to get stitches. The staff was friendly, helpful, and saw my dog quickly and compassionately. I would definitely adopt or foster another dog from this location.

Great place if you’re looking to adopt a pet. Everyone is friendly and appears to be passionate about animal rescue. I have not used the spay/​neuter services.

We just fostered and adopted our bulldog from Lifeline. I agree with the other reviews that they sincerely care only about what best benefits the animal. I will definitely recommend them to friends looking to foster and adopt a dog in the future.

Got our dog from here. Have taken him back two times for annual check up and shots.
On adoption: he was already trained, they walked us through their training methods and showed us how to use them at home. Also, before we could take him home, they came to our house to meet us and check out the home. They care that much about the dogs!
As for the shots and facilities, yes: low cost. But saw nothing to cause any concerns on my end. I’m highly allergic to cats, and have never seen the cat facilities.

This place is great! If you can look past no sign on the building, a stench like no other when you walk in and a bit of overcrowding, they really care about your pet. I had my cat spayed here for $ 60. Impossible to do anywhere else, but that and vaccinations is mostly what they do here. They make owning a pet affordable.

Great people, great project! We took a rescued dog to Lifeline for neutering — they also offer vaccinations and even put in a microchip — all at the fraction of the cost of a vet clinic or animal hospital. The Lifeline Animal Project staff and veterinarian were WONDERFUL. I highly recommend this place. If you go, be ready for the parking lot and entrance to not be as nice as a regular vet clinic. All their funds and energy go into caring for animals!

We are so lucky to have a place like this in the area. I have taken all of my pets here, and my rescue pets.

Desperately needed to get my cat spayed since she loves running out, and we’re always fearful that she’ll return with more than what we bargained for. So after having my cat for over a year, we finally took her in to get fixed.
They are DEFINITELY LOW COST, and very helpful. We got her spayed, de-​wormed, and had rabies shots down for only $ 65. Other places that we checked that, that would of been the price to just get her spayed, especially since she was in heat while she was spayed.
Drop off time is from 8 – 8:30am and pick up is from 4:30 — 5:15pm. We didn’t bring our cat in in a carrier, but they were still friendly with us, and made everything work. They returned our kitty in a box carrier to make transporting her easier.
A vet comes out right before you pick up your pet to discuss post-​surgery care, and she was very thorough. Covering everything from the first 3 days, to the next 10 days, and what we can do to make it easier on our pet.
If I ever need to spay or neuter another pet, this is definitely the place I will be going to!
BTW, when you walk in, brace yourself. The stench is horrid.

The GOOD:
My dog looked great when I picked her up! The staff was extremely genuine and really seemed to care about my dog. They took the time to discuss her procedure and post op instructions. A very nice older woman walked with me to my car discussing any questions I had a long the way. I really wish I could remember her name because she really was sweet and helpful. I want to say her name was Mary or Kate.
My 1 year old Boston terrier was awake and alert when I
I picked her up. We are now on day two after her surgery and she doesn’t show any signs that she even had a surgery. She is just annoyed that she needs to keep a comfy cone on her head.
The prices are incredible! $ 110 to get my dog spayed (who was in heat). Her yearly vaccinations and extra pain medication. This would have cost me $ 500 easily at our regular vet.
Now for why they received 4 stars instead of 5.
It was very difficult to get someone on the phone prior to her surgery. There were a few times I literally had to call all day to get someone to pick up. I also never received a phone call back to set up her appointment the first time I tried. That being said they are understaffed and are a non profit agency and I know there is only one girl at the desk trying to 5 different things at once and after seeing how busy if was yesterday I understand why she was unable to pick up. I recommend if you get them on the phone have all the questions you think you may have ready to be asked on that one single phone cAll. She is very pleasant to tAlk to once you get through on the line.
I was also a little hesitant when I dropped my dog off. It was over crowded. Someone took my dog in a blink of an eye and then I was handed a clip board and paperwork to fill out and I just didn’t feel at ease leaving her there and i was worried all day but they sure made up for it when I picked to her up and I couldn’t have been happier!
Side note: I was told if anyone wants to volunteer there is information for you to fill out on there website.

Excellent! Looks like a hole in the wall but more knowledgeable than my own vet. Has no other prerogative other than the benefit of the pet. I didn’t heed their advice on keeping the «hood» on my dog and she took out her own stitches. They fixed her up and replaced the stitches with antibiotics at no charge. They are worth their weight in gold!!!

This is one of the best groups in Atlanta working to help the pet overpopulation. They offer super cheap spaying and neutering for dogs and cats. I just found a puppy and within 2 days of calling was in and he was neutered and given the first round of vaccines for a total of 150. That’s quite the deal compared to the higher end vet clinics.
They also do feral cat spay and neuter for 25 bucks if you catch them in a trap. I have brought 8 cats to them and they are always courteous, on time, no problems.
I highly recommend them as the first step in pet care– low cost vaccinations and spaying/​neutering. Unfortunately they only offer that initial service. For regular vaccinations and vet visits you will have to choose a regular vet.

I love Lifeline Animal Project; oops I should prob mention that I foster for them occassionaly. That being said they have a super nice and clean shelter behind Avondale Pizza in… wait for it… Avondale Estates. They have a cat room where you can go in and get some one on one time with all the cute kitties, most of their dogs are trained while waiting to be adopted, and they have a kick butt low-​cost spay/​neuter program, as well as low cost vaccinations (just make sure to book your appt way in advance). They also have a feral cat spay/​neuter program as well. The people who work for Lifeline are very nice and will help you find your perfect pet. Go check out the shelter and meet some animals or go to their website and see all the great things they do for Atlanta’s pets. I promise you will become a fan.
