Second pizza, red sauce(meat lovers type). My second favorite type of pizza, so it’s not as good as the bbq chicken, but wow was it good! Fresh, fresh fresh. Really nice flavors, sauce doesn’t have the metal tinge you get from canned sauces. So, 2 pizzas, and I can’t think of a bad thing about either of them(the bbq chicken was still even good the next day cold). So is this the place to go for pizza in the Avon area? 100% YES!(even if someone back there is a Rangers fan, but can’t fault for team preferences haha)

Lately I’ve been on a bit of a pizza kick and so I’m trying to branch out a bit. I am a recent transplant to Hartford and am still exploring food options and have to say I’m really pleased at this surprise find that I found out about through Instagram. We had a Caesar salad, small meatball grinder and a small E&D special pizza. Everything was super tasty and good sized portions. It’s a little bit of a schlepp for us but I will definitely go back when I want it mix things up again.

I stopped in for a couple of slices for lunch — felt like I was back in the neighborhood, New Haven style — the only thing missing was Foxon Park soda. The table next to me ordered subs and they looked awesome. Next time I’m back in this area I’m ordering one of their subs(great selection) and taking a couple of pizzas home to the family to be a Hero !

Stopped in yesterday for a pair of pepperoni slices. The price is a bit more than a typical slice(but not quite what you pay for a slice of Frank Pepe’s at a sporting event at Mohegan Sun). Can’t say E & D pizza is New Haven style, or NY style, or Greek style. The slices just taste fresh, overall it is decent pizza. I’d stop in again if passing by.

As good as it gets for CT pizza. Highly recommended for pizza and salads. The meatball sandwich(to me) was average, however the Italian combo was excellent.

Outstanding authentic Italian pizza! Finally a place to go where the pizza is true Italian, just delicious! The salads are fantastic as well. If you eat in, the background music is conducive to a pleasant dining experience which is not the case in many restaurants these days. We love the way that Mike the owner/chef comes out to greet you, he even remembered our names. Now, when we are in the mood for pizza E & D Pizza is first on our list. I highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed!

The best pizza in Farmington valley! We had the white clam pizza and was looking forward to eating the last piece for lunch the following day… awesome quality ingredients. Can’t wait to try other specialty pizzas. We are hooked, our new favorite pizza restaurant!

I love EVERYTHING about E&D. The food is outstanding. I have tried the Neapolitan, Caprese, Carnivoro and plain cheese pies with various FRESH toppings and they are all delicious. Consistency is key in a pizza joint and the pizzas are cooked to perfection each and every time. Their salads are entrée portions at side salad prices! Particularly love the caesar and spinich salads! A large pie with a side salad can easily feed a pair and leave plenty for lunch tomorrow. For the grinders I have tried the Combo Italiano and The Chief, both are great, but I have seriously have a difficult time passing on pizza when dining at E&D. Aside from the outstanding food, the service is attentive and always smiling. The owner, Mike, has high expectations in the performance of his restaurant and it really shines through in the care his staff takes when dealing with the guests. The space has two booths that seat 4 and two tables for two, they also provide take-out. Restroom and dining area are kept in pristine condition. I CAN’T FORGETTOMENTION: BYOB!!! There is a liquor store right next door! In an area filled with mediocre pizza joints, this truly is the diamond of the valley. Bravo, Mike.

I’ve never had a bad experience here! Not only is Mike one of the nicest guys ever, his food is phenomenal! I eat here probably 3 or 4 times a week. The grinders are amazing, the pizza is some of the best I’ve ever had, and the salads are filling and delicious. The first time I had a a grinder I could instantly tell the quality of the food, real chicken breast cooked to perfection! Definitely the best place to go in Avon for take out or sit down. Small but quaint seating with a couple booths and a couple single tables for 1 or 2 people. I definitely recommend E&D!

GRINDERREVIEW: I stopped in to order an Italian Combo grinder to go for dinner last week on Tuesday. While the service was friendly and quick, I was disappointed with the sandwich when I got home 5 minutes later. There are certain things I like on my grinders – crunchy lettuce, a good ratio of meat. While my grinder came with leafy green lettuce and a little more meat than I like, I was able to deal with that. However, the one factor that moves a grinder from okay to delicious is ultimately the BREAD. I have to say, my grinder roll was somewhat flat, and a little dry. It added nothing to the sandwich. I always prefer supporting locally owned businesses over chains, and there’s really no reason to drive more than 2 – 3 miles to pick up a grinder. But I’m still looking for that local place that gives us a grinder comparable to Franklin Avenue or New Haven delis. It’s all about the bread.

Very solid take out pizza. Ordered a small Italian grinder and a small Margherita pizza for take out. Order was ready right on time, impressive for a Friday evening. Staff was very friendly when I came in to pick up. Price was solid(about $ 23 total with tax). Pizza was a little lukewarm when I got home but I live in West Hartford, so there was a drive. Nothing a quick stint in the oven couldn’t cure. Pizza was great, nice and crispy and not too heavy on the sauce or cheese. Grinder was loaded with meat, and was not drowned in oil which is a pet peeve of mine. All in all, will definitely be going back to try other pizzas and grinders!

Been coming here nearly every week now since a few months after they opened. Absolutely love their grinders, the buffalo chicken is incredible, thick juicy chicken breast nice and hot. They’ve got a couple new grinders now too I can’t wait to try, a meatball and a tuna, but tonight I tried their soon to be added chicken parm… and let me tell you, it was bangin. It was thick juicy grilled chicken breast, roasted red peppers and fresh mozzarella, it was amazing. I also added some jalapeños, I highly recommend doing so. Definitely keep an eye out for it on the menu.

Friendliest pizza place I’ve ever been to. We gave this new business a try and loved it. The pizza was excellent, and we are pizza snobs from New Haven! The space is bright and clean, and there are large televisions for game viewing. Salad was excellent and fresh. I hope this business continues to do well!

Awesome pizzas. Closest I have found to my New York pizza I miss from back home. My only complaint is its on the salty side. But it’s so addicting you won’t be able to stop eating it! Can’t wait to go back again!

I can not say enough good things about this establishment! First off… its BYOB Located in a great easy access location off of Rt 44 in Avon, they have recently expanded their menu to include grinders which is awesome. My first experience was had at a friends house that had ordered the Polo Diavolo, which is a chicken, hot sauce and Gorgonzola cheese pizza. I was very impressed. A little different they your typical buffalo chicken pizza, and it really is the Gorgonzola that makes it…- just a great idea to change it up and give it a great flavor. Since then, I decided that I had to try a red sauce pizza and ordered the Carnivoro. Sausage, pepperoni, bacon and hamburg. I order with a little extra sauce and this pizza is amazing! I have probably ordered it at least 10 times in the last month. It is so good and it is consistently the same every time which is really what makes Mikes place worth the visit. I can confidently recommend it knowing positive results. So far we have ordered salads, grinders and pizza and everything has been quality. Take for instance the buffalo chicken grinder. Its all white juicy chicken breast. Again a little different then the normal greasy grinder. Much cleaner and healthier. Again, great place, great freindly employees and right next to M&R Liquor store, you can go order your food, grab some beer or a bottle of wine and have a great meal. Look forward to returning

When we ordered a meatball pizza, the manager said: a) «If these aren’t the very best meatballs you ever had you can come back and punch me in the face» b) «You’ll love the meatballs, my mother-in-law made them» c) «The meatballs are great, I buy them from Brooklyn three times a week» Give up? The answer is «a». E & D is the latest pizza place to pop up in the Farmington Valley. Its located on the northbound side of 202⁄44 in a small plaza with DeAngelos and Deepwater Lobster. It has a real small dining room with just two tables and two booths. Basic pizzas are $ 13 for a 14 inch small and $ 17 for an 18 inch large. Lots of great looking pies on the menu — one caught my eye– it was called Pollo Diavalo and included roast chicken, hot sauce, and gorgonzola. They also have five salads and ten grinders. So how was our meatball pizza? It was quite good with a thin crust and Neopolitan style, great tasting sauce, very good cheese. And how were the highly touted meatballs? They were also quite good! Great taste and texture. Turns out they are bought from a food purveyor in New Haven. Did E&D serve me the«very best» meatballs I ever had? Hard to say. But did E&D offer me the most outrageous and confident product guarantee I ever heard? Yes indeed.

So, does Avon REALLY need another pizza place? No. But, I tried this place recently and have to say that if we’re going to have another place, it’s pretty decent. The positives: Flavorful crust, VERY generous toppings(with primo pepperoni), and decent sauce. It seemed to me that the crust was a bit on the«light-baked» side. If you like that type of thing, it’s a good fit. I tend to like mine a little more New Haven-style, like the type that Naples or Da Vinci pizza has. The price for the pizza is also a little on high side. We also got a spinach salad that was a little more expensive than it probably should be, but was a good size and good ingredients. Service was friendly. The décor on the place is new, but it’s small with just four tables up front. Clearly a better take-out place. I will say that the owners of the store front(not the pizza shop owners I should note) need to do a better job clearing snow and ice off the front. It’s a little treacherous walking. But overall, an enjoyable pizza and good for the owners for trying to enter a very crowded field of pizza places. Still not my favorite but very far from the worse either.

I ran late last week from work and made a last minute decision to try this place out. I stopped in and ordered the clam pizza to bring home to the wife. I asked for a drink while I waited, but they don’t have a license to sell alcohol. Conveniently, they have a liquor store right next door. I was able to grab a beer and sit in the pizza shop while I waited for our pie to be ready. I felt the service was friendly and quick. The clam pizza was great! We really enjoyed the quality of the crust. I forgot to ask if they use the clams from the Deapwater Seafood store next door, which has great seafood. We also had the spinach salad. It had fresh produce and great flavor in the dressing. We are looking forward to trying some of the other pizza and menu items in the near future. I would recommend giving this new business an opportunty in a town lacking in good pizza options.
