I got acquainted with this jewelry store through Ebay. I saw a watch that I was looking for in an auction and noticed they were nearby. I contacted John the owner and arranged to come see the watch in person. This was a Breitling watch and was advertised on Ebay as «Mint condition». When I got to the store and met John, he told me the watch was 7 years old. I could see that watch was clearly not in mint condition. The watch bracelet and case were in very nice condition, but there were visible polish marks. The anti glare on the crystal had been just about completely polished off. That which remained had some very small scratches. Had I received this watch in the mail from the Ebay auction, I would have been disappointed. I pointed these out to John, and he did give me some credit towards a new crystal and subtracted the amount he would have paid in Ebay fees, so I made the purchase. John and I had a conversation in which I told him I was getting into watch collecting as a hobby, wanted to learn more and looked forward to establishing a relationship with him, and could become a repeat customer. John seemed nice and advised that I learn as much as I could by reading and researching. I started by researching as soon as I got home. I found that the watch I just purchased was NOT seven years old as I had been told, but rather 16 years old.(Which meant the older, less accurate movement) I was not happy I had not been told the truth. According to the Lavish Collection website, I was supposedly covered by a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. I contacted John and advised him that I wanted to return the watch according to his published guarantee. I was told he would take the watch back, but he was going to charge me $ 150 to do so. I was definitely NOT happy about that, but I was in a hurry to get this done, as I had found a complete Breitling watch of the same model in true mint condition, 8 years newer, with the box and papers for the same price as the older watch from Lavish Collection that came without those items. I wanted to avoid any hassle, so I didn’t argue with John. In the end, John seemed to be a nice guy, but does not seem to describe his items accurately or stand by his word when it come to his customer satisfaction guarantee. I would NOT purchase from him again.
