This store is nowhere near the size of the flagship store on Fifth Avenue, but we’re in Miami and people do things a little differently here. Being raised mostly up north I was excited to see the signature brown and white stripes and popped in here one day when I was on the hunt for what I’ll call an «airplane bag». I found exactly what I needed. The blonde salesgirl was fabulous and we even chatted for a good 10 minutes about our dogs(don’t ask me how we got on that train of thought?) but I could have easily walked out with half the jewelry in the store if I was so inclined. The style and me just get each other. They really take care here to package things nicely for you here, giving you dust bags and tissue paper and the whole nine yards which is nice when things aren’t exactly discount store pricing. I appreciate that the associates are just the right balance of «Hi, can I help you?» without being irritating about the fact that they are obviously on commission and smothering you. I like having them at arm’s reach when I need them. I signed up for emails and now I get the catalogs-so now I have some credit I need to burn-so let’s see what I end up with next go round…

Henri Bendel is a great alternative for those looking to shy away from the trendy designer bags that EVERYBODY is carrying right now. DISCLAIMER: Dear purse, just because you’re in the«trendy zone» right now doesn’t mean we won’t carry you again. We just like to have something that’s a bit different sometimes. This is not a breakup… we’re on a lil break. I visited the Aventura Mall location yesterday and they had a large selection of beautiful bags and at great prices –some even 40% off. Gotta check Lennox for the matching wallet to the purse I bought(Number 7 quilted black– LOVEIT!!!) If you like a great bag and haven’t heard of Henri Bendel… You’re Late! Get over there and check it out.

Henri Bendel is offering the best service and great products if you are looking for a nice gift for a friend or relative. I learned about Henri Bendel through my daughter a few years ago and since then I’m a loyal returning customer. I always order online and the products are great, nicely packaged and never had any issues with delivery. Excellent service and great quality

Walking around Aventura Mall yesterday with some friends, we walked by this window and, it’s so nice, that we had to go in and check out the store. It’s a very nice store full of color and things. They have a great variety of bags and accessories, candles, scarfs and many other things. The girls were great showing my friend and I different items and trying to find our size of awesome rings that we were trying to choose from. The prices are a bit high but their quality and attention is very good.

I really enjoyed this place. Of course it is a far cry from the New York City department store, because it is not a department store! It is basically like an accessories store, with great bags, jewelry, a few shoes, toiletry and jewelry bags, and jewelry boxes. I love the brown stripe print, and I couldn’t get enough of it. I bought a toiletry bag when I was there two weeks ago, and I have gotten a compliment on it from every single person who has seen it. For someone who rarely gets to NYC :(, I will gladly take this store for a little Bendel’s fix.

Sadly, the Florida outpost of Henry Bendel is a far cry from the original Fifth Avenue location in NYC and the former store in Chicago, IL, which closed almost a decade ago. Like the San Francisco store«Gumps», which was once locally owned and was a fixture on the Bay Area shopping scene, it was purchased by a catalog retailer and all the personality was stripped away, it is now simply a glorified brick and mortar catalog selling high end dinnerware, jewelery and assorted up market brick-a-brack, which brings me back to the Aventura location of the recently opened Henri Bendel. While primarily focused on women’s fashion and accessories, at one time, the New York location carried home goods, which was a nice break for the guys in the crowd, however, even the NY store now focuses exclusively on clothing, jewels and other assorted women’s products. The Miami location appears to be more focused on handbags and every item that I spied had the Henri Bendel logo embossed on it. It was akin to the tacky tourist shops in Las Vegas, whose merchandise shouts out that you’ve been to Sin City. It is a real shame that the owners of Henri Bendel have moved in this unfortunate direction, I can only hope more outposts in other cities do not follow.
