Just ok eats here but a nice spot on the pier. Fish & Chips that cost way too much for 3 small pieces of average tasting fish and fries. With tartar sauce that’s just passable. You’re paying more for the beautiful view then the food. There are much better dining options in Avalon.

Hello! I visited Fish and Chips back in December of 2015 and I was far from being disappointed. The food was tasty, with just the right portion to keep me going for the afternoon. I had the battered cod with an order of french fries. I liked the fast and friendly service. The location is also very convenient with awesome ocean, mountain, and casino view(s). This will, once again, be my very first stop the next time I arrive on the island.

Food was really good but slow. They didn’t give us the tacos on our order until I produced the receipt and then made my brother, who ordered after us wait 10 minutes on his tacos and told him the people before him(us) stole his tacos. My brother got his food about the time we finished our meal, but we stayed in the direct sunlight and waited for him to finish.

I had the fried scallops. It’s really easy to overcook scallops and turn them into little hockey pucks, but these were *perfectly* cooked. The portion was generous too, with a half dozen sea size scallops and more fries than you should want. Prices were«island normative» — higher than you’d pay on the mainland, but that’s to be expected.

The Fish and Chips are a 5.0 star, Chowder a 3.5 star and the«Sitting outside with the aggressive panhandling Seagulls» tables a 3.0 stars. The staff is the best and very friendly. One woman had a Seagull attack her food when she got up to throw away something and they replaced in gratis. Good on them! I can’t blame the Seagull for wanting it as the fish is firm and the batter not heavy and thick like most places. Had Fish and Chips at a fancier, more expensive place at Avalon and these guys smoked them. Should have gone here first!

This is a simple beer and fries kind of place at the end of the pier. The first time I ate here, a portion of my meal was comp’d. They said it was just because they appreciated my business!(I think that they might’ve know I was a part of a giant group that came through that pier, daily). Incredibly friendly and seemed to sincerely enjoy their work. The food is good but simple. You’ll get exactly what you expect out of it.

Got the fish in chips, which was alright. I’d get something different next time. My girlfriend got the tacos, a way better choice. Everyone around us got the sword fish and they couldn’t seem happier so next time we know better if we go back. Had a good beer choice, and they had fast and nice service.

This place had decent food but smaller portions than what I was expecting. It’s in the middle of the pier so you’ll be able to eat with a good view of the marina all around you. Ordered the Fried Scallops and fries and Poke with Cabbage. Both items were not that fresh but it wasn’t bad. The 4 stars is for the view mostly.

Probably my favorite meal on the island. A little pricey but expected on Catalina. Had the fish and chips, chili cheese fries, clam chowder, shrimp and fish tacos, and a Bloody Mary. The tacos were my favorite but the others were very decent as well. The fish and chips were decent, the clam chowder was not too salty or watery, and the chili cheese fries were tasty enough. The Bloody Mary was nothing to write home about but satisfying before the boat ride home. Being from the LA area, I realize how spoiled we are in regards to food as none of the food on the island was really THAT great. It was fairly good here though. Going back to Catalina for a visit in a few weeks and will definitely have another meal here.

Great clam chowder bread bowl! Didn’t have a ton of clams, but had great flavor. Fish and chips were pretty good as well!

We wanted to grab a snack, before going on the submarine ride and I am glad we did. I had the fish taco and the fries, I will just say it was a nice snack. The fish taco was fresh and I wish I would’ve asked what kind of fish was in it, because this was the best fish taco I have ever had; I think it was because of the type of fish. My wife had the fried zucchini and if you like thick cut pieces, then this zucchini is the one for you. It held the heat long enough, that we did not have to eat it fast. Great place for a snack and possibly more.

The lobster was rubber and served with bided rice pilaf and frozen veggies. I was horrified. The $ 9 metal tables outside didn’t help. Never again!

The yellow tail grilled fish was very fresh. Good Bloody Mary. Great location on the pier. Fun and there were some healthy grilled options. Margaritas are meh, but if you like Rose’s Lime you might like them better than I did. You’re there for the seafood though and it’s good. Fish is breaded with just a bit of corn meal in the breading and tasted great. Friendly service.

If you are looking for a decent place to eat in Catalina, then having lunch here makes the grade. The only complaint I have is that it is pricey. But then again, so are other places to eat.

My boyfriend and I LOVED the fish and chips from this place. It was recommended by our tour guide from Catalina Transportation Services, his name was Greg. I am so glad we asked for a recommendation for fish and chips because this place made the best that we both have ever had. The breading/batter was super thin which we loved because you know they aren’t cheating you out of your money and providing more fish than batter. Unlike here in San Diego, where they heavily dip scrawny pieces of fish in an overwhelming amount of batter(gross and a rip-off). Wishing I didn’t live all the way in San Diego because I would eat this any day. Highly recommend it!

Regular fish sandwich was the bomb. Tip: add the cole slaw to the sandwich. This place makes some nice slaw! The added creamy crunch and freshness is the perfect balance with the crisp fried fish and soft sesame bun.

YEs YESYESYES Ok, yes… its the pier, it crowded, its loud is almost and organized chaos, it is NOT a sit down restaurant, Its an «enjoy the day, the view and have a bite» type place but hands down one of the best fish and chips I have tried in a long time. Not greasy batter… flaky, delicious… DONOT take too long to eat. It is the pier and food WILL get cold. They have many other items, but if the restaurant its called Fish and Chips… well…perhaps you want to order a burger somewhere else… Mind where you are… and have the appropriate expectation which is clear… happy, like a bar without a roof!
