I was not sure what to make of YOLO at 1st. The impression was the YOLO was opened as something else and the facility was rescued and converted into the YOLO Grille. I went ahead and gave them 5 stars as I appreciate Matt & Jenny as they hustled about and would stop and make sure things were good, I decided that it is more Mom & Pop sports bar that has a great menu and regularly offers a specials menu too. The kitchen seems pretty busy w/staff rattling about as the YOLO offers more than the usual pub gub. My 1st visit was a nice lamb stew w/wine. They also have a regular, quieter dining room, but I typically choose to watch the TVs at the louder bar. Various flavors of rock n roll are played there. I Liked the Ahi tuna w/rice and veggie it was consistently good w/wasabi & loved the pickled ginger. The salad was pretty good and a nice wine may be suggested by Matt. Sometimes would have a slice of pie for desert w/coffee & Kahlua. The wait staff was pleasant, if sometimes inexperienced, so there was room for improvements. Thanks Matt & Jenny

Eaten here multiple times, food Is great as well as the beer selction, service can be hit or miss sometimes, management did comp our meal once when the service was terrible, but overall, the food is good enough that we continue to go back

Variety of options, food is always great, pub chips are amazing, and fried mozzarella is the best i have EVER had. I come here at least twice a month and they never disappoint.

This was our first time there and the food was pretty tasty. We ordered The Best Greens in Town– this wasn’t that good, Traditional wings– good size, flavor, and best of all it came on a bed of fries that took on the Garlic Parmesan flavor! For our meals we ordered Ahi Tuna Steak and the Lamb Gyro. Both orders of Ahi Tuna steak were perfectly seared and rare as requested– this was the best menu item of night! As for the side dishes, portions were good and flavor were ok. The service was excellent. Our waitress was energetic, attentive and friendly. We will definitely return.

This place was very tasty. We ordered the Youngstown cheese and pretzels for an appetizer. Both were delicious. They were a little stingy with the crackers but brought more out when we asked. We had the Fun Guys burger and the garlic chicken gyro. The burger was a real burger, not some pre made frozen thin patty. The chicken was delicious. Our waitress, Maddie, was very good and very attentive to the kids. The food came out promptly and was hot.

Ordered the Yolo burger. Wasn’t expecting much, perhaps unfairly, but it was really good. Nice atmosphere and good service. Would try again.

I have been wanting to eat at Yolo’s for a year now. I liked the pictures on Unilocal and the menu in the website. BUT… I could never find the place. Tool is in the plaza off Mahoning ave behind Ruby Tuesday. They should put that on their website. Anyway, the food was great, the service was great, and unfortunately I only took a picture of the BBQ garlic wings on a bed of fries, that were large and cooked perfectly, after I started to eat. And I will be back. And back. I sometimes just know I will like a place based on the menu. This place was one of those. And the menu in Yolo is not the same as on the website. It is better. Great selection of apps, entrees, wraps, and burgers. I have not written a review where I really liked the place so much, as this review with Yolo, in a long time. Hoping for many years of great meals.

Went here for dinner with my mother on 10.17.2015. Was a little apprehensive because the Unilocal reviews weren’t so great. I got wedding soup app, and the Jumbo Scallops, Prawns & Baby Lobster Au Gratin entrée. My mom had the wedding soup app, and Filet Ala Jett(Twin medallions of Certified Angus Beef filet wrapped with applewood smoked bacon, topped with creamy bleu cheese sauce). I was pleasantly surprised. Both the soup and the au gratin were very good. The au gratin had sliced potatoes topped with scallops, shrimp, and lobster in a rich, creamy, cheese sauce. I also had a bite of my mom’s steak. The filet was cooked perfectly, with creamy cheese sauce, and crisp bacon. It was delicious. Wish I had gotten a picture of it. Service was friendly and attentive. AND we got 15% off by checking in with the Unilocal app! My only complaint was that it was kinda chilly in the restaurant. But it was the first really cold day of fall, and it had just started to snow a bit. So I don’t blame them for not having the furnace kicked up yet. I will definitely be back.

I miss both their old menu and their old location. YOLO used to be one of my favorites in the area, but each time I’ve tried the food at the new location I’ve been disappointed. The old menu was far more original and the quality of the food was better. Don’t know if I’ll try it again or not.

Places like this are getting hard to find outside the city’s. Sure excellent food can be had all over the country but it’s typically the same old story. Pizza/pasta, burgers/fry’s, Mexican.. .. .and well you get my drift. Now«Yolo Tavern». Sure, they have that too for those who crave comfort food they feel safe with. But Yolo go’s far beyond the typically beer & burger place. 1st, no business we could find in town even came close to the selection of craft beers these guys stock. Me being a well seasoned traveler & brew/food connoisseur from So. Cal. I was blown away with the«big city» craft brew selection.(IPAs & Session IPA s for me) Then there’s the menu. Seriously. Greens appetizer? So good & healthy too. The list go’s on. To have any kind of pallet in this town & not patronize this place would be. .. . well, for a loss of a better word crazy. Ya, this place ROCKS. In the city I give them 5 stars. But out here SIXSTARS ! :-)

This dining experience was TERRIBLE! We stopped for apps/sandwiches & a couple of drinks. My husband had a beer so they couldn’t screw that up but my «sangria«was really a Shirley Temple with some very sweet wine in it… we ordered the pretzel dippers & they were pretty good, fried… My son ordered a grilled cheese sandwich & soup… it was served on very thick Italian bread that had a slight char from the grill. The cheese was about ½» tall inside & not melted at all. The«soup» was the exact same stuff that was served to dip our pretzels in. My husband’s «Cuban«sandwich was more like a chicken quesadilla… nothing about it resembled a Cuban sandwich, his«sweet potato wedges«we’re really just a sweet potato cut up into about 5 slices after frying… really gross! I ordered the«crab cake slides» — they were supposed to be served with pesto, avocado, & lemon aioli. They were also supposed to come with fried spinach. The plate had 4 sliders that each had a ¼ of an obviously pre-frozen crab cake with some jarred pesto & a little mayo. between each slider was 2 spinach leaves(not fried) sigh a few chopped tomatoes & a few drops of balsamic glaze. I ate the crab cake pieces & left the rest behind, my son was able to eat about ¼ of his sandwich, & my husband opened up the tortillas & ate the filling with a fork. We told the waitress that it wasn’t good(especially the charred not-grilled-cheese) & she offered to bring a new sandwich but that first one was a real turn-off, we never saw a manager & they made no attempt to adjust our bill in any way. Very disappointing… we will NEVER go back & will be sure to tell our friends the same… yuck!

The bread was really good. They ran out of my favorite beer, ran out of the soup I ordered. The other soup was cold. The Mac and cheese was really good. It was well organized and very nice to be able to relax. I may go back and try it again in a few weeks. Maybe just an off night?

Spectacular it wasn’t, but Yolo served a quality meal at a fair price. The Tuna apatizer with spinach chips was the highlight and was on the verge of spectacular, the greens were not the best around as the menu stated, but the deep fried pickles were delicious(I’m told, because I can’t stand pickles). The pizzas we ordered were delicious but my Bestest salad was almost more fruit than salad, good but way to sweet. In all its a good meal served by excellent waitstaff.

Food is essential but taste is rare. Yolo taproom and grille tskes pride in taste. Go there and enjoy. Build your own burger or challenge the chef/owner to make a mouth watering dish.

I try to be understanding with those working in the food service industry but last night was one of my worst dining experiences. There was honestly nothing redeeming about my meal, the service, nada. OK, my Dr. Pepper tasted fine. Our waitress was obviously having a bad night and taking it out on everyone in her path. We were treated so disrespectfully and with utter disdain that every time she came towards the table I wanted to hide from her. She brought out the wrong wine, walked away for 15 minutes before coming back to take our order, and then forgot to bring out my order with the rest of my party’s meals until we had to flag her down and ask. She acted like we were severely inconveniencing her and we felt very unwelcome. She did not earn her tip that is for sure. Usually bad service can be redeemed by good food, but not in this case. The food was so bland and flavorless. If you are looking for great Mediterranean food there are much better places to go and they will actually treat you with courtesy and respect. Sorry YOLO, I will never be back and I will never ever recommend your restaurant to a living soul. Good Luck.
