As I log on to write a review for this place, Unilocal alerts me that it’s CLOSED. While I feel for the people who lose jobs and $$ when a restaurant closed, I’m not at all surprised at this outcome based on my experience there back in October. The theme seemed to be inattention to detail — it was unclear how/where to sit. We ended up sitting at the bar to watch the UT football game around 8 or so, and immediately noticed that behind the bar were several opened cardboard boxes full of miscellany and the employees’ belongings strewn about on top of them. Also, the bar was a glass piece laid on top of hundreds of side-by-side pennies. The notion that a thin glass panel is all that separated my food from a myriad of bacteria grossed me out. We ordered, and waited upwards of 40 minutes for our food. We inquired about our food and were told that the kitchen had gotten«backed up» and our food would be out shortly. Looking around the restaurant at the small handful of other patrons, I’m mystified how this is an excuse when successful burger joints like Hopdoddy handle wayyy higher volume and still manage to get food out in a reasonable time. I understand there are kinks to work out when you first open, but don’t BS me. The LOUD classic rock from the kitchen made it very difficult to hear the game on TV. I mean, pick one. I would assume that the employee’s music preferences would be secondary to customers’, but that’s just me. Food was good, but with the countless food options in Austin I see no reason to tolerate this sort of experience. Why post a negative review for a place already closed, you ask? Well, this was a negative enough experience that it will keep me from ever patronizing the other location still open.

Hmmmm… interesting to see what everyone else had to say. I’ve been here a few times and have had a FANTASTIC meal every time. The owner is friendly and laid back, the food is great(love the Willie N.), and there are only TVs in one of the dining areas. I’m not a fan of a TV blaring at me while I enjoy company and a meal, so I really appreciate this design. The fries are fresh and crispy. Ill admit that some of the burgers need a toasted bun unless you’re planning on eating a burger using a fork… it can get messy! Ill take messy and delicious over neat and average ANYDAY. Thanks Your Mom… Oak Hill needed this!

As soon as my friend and I walked in, we had no clue where to order — the front? the back bar? do we seat ourselves? When we were finally approached, the customer service was lackluster and honestly awkward. The Your Moms employee took our to go orders and handed me a receipt for BOTH orders, never asking if we wanted to pay separately. We prayed that the awkward experience wouldn’t translate into the food, but sadly the food wasn’t even good. I found a oddly chewy inedible mystery piece in my burger. Your Moms makes Culver’s seem like a five-star burger place.

The Veggie burgers here are fantastic!!! I loved that the veggie burgers came stuffed. I ordered the buffalo blue cheese burger and have to say it was one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had! I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other flavors!

Was very excited to try this place. We ordered to go after seeing the service was slow. It took us over 45 minutes to get our food anyways. We got home and our orders were not correct but we ate them anyways. Everything from the fried pickles to the burgers were horrible greasy. The pickles do not taste good even with them being made in house. The burgers, including my kids were pink in the middle. And I mean pink! It was very much so not worth the $ 40 we dropped there.

If you want to try a burger at this place stay home get 2 sponges and soak up a puddle of oil, stick an overcooked meat patty in it then dunk the whole thing in the toilet. This place is just awful. Hands down the greasiest burger in the world. You don’t eat the burgers here, you drink them. That’s how greasy they are. The onion rings are like overly fried overly battered rubber bands. The Burger Tex that used to be in their spot blows this place away and their burgers were just so so. Also their meat patties are NOT stuffed with cheese as far as I could tell. Everything was just a greasy messy slop that I wouldn’t feed to my dog if it were starving.

What an insult to mom! I ordered the Freida Kahlo — $ 7.99 advertised as a a half pound burger with monterey jack cheese, chorizo, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, and chipotle lime spread on a toasted bun… This all sounded delicious on paper — what I got was a greasy burger with some egg, what looked like guacamole, all the veggie fixins on a grease soaked bun. We’re talking so greasy that the bread was mush… it would literally turn into mush as soon as you picked it up. The flavors were decent if they served each component separately… We also ordered the onion rings. This was like biting into styrofoam, I couldn’t even taste any trace of an onion.

We live in Oak Hill. If I were to rate this place solely on their food then I would give it 4 stars BUT… the wait staff is as woefully inept as I have ever seen. Interacting with them is incredibly awkward because they just don’t seem to have ANY experience waiting tables. 3 of times we’ve gone they have been out of items and once they were out of KETCHUP??? HTF does a burger joint run out of ketchup? The tea glasses are too small and they never seem to have access to enough ice. Also you have to ask for lime or lemons for your tea and the limes were cut far too thin to be squeezed into the tea. The appetizers are too small for the price. Seriously this place needs to hire one good wait person to show their other staff how things SHOULDBEDONE! We have been there 4 times now and honestly we will probably switch to only calling them for take out. The food is good but this place needs a real manager and real wait staff or it will follow T&N into oblivion.

I LOVED the original location on E Cesar Chavez. The owner and his wife are great people. They helped out and catered an Real Estate office opening we had down the road from that location a couple years ago. With that said… I was super stoked about this location opening up so close to home. It’s got a weird unorganized feel to the place when you first walk in… Do I seat myself? Do I order at the podium at the front or the counter in the back? The staff was a little less than polite and not accommodating on more than one visit. The worst moment we had was when their credit card machine was down and they where out of their delicious gluten free buns. We had to not order any fries or sides because we only had enough cash for burgers(this is where most places would have thrown in a side of fries for the inconvenience). The server suggested getting a lettuce burger to my girlfriend that wanted the gluten free bun. She thought that would be a great idea, picturing a meat patty between to large leaves of lettuce. However, when we got home all she had was a styrofoam box with a hamburger patty covered with shredded lettuce! Hahaaa… it had been a long day and that was just comical at that point. Overall I still see the great quality product that I enjoyed at the original location but they definitely have a few kinks to work out. This would be a 4 star review with a little work on the staff and the confusing entry & order process.

I’m from Texas. I love a good burger. Naturally, I get very excited when a new burger joint opens up near me. The menu offers about 10 different types of specialty burgers with topping ranging from the everyday to fried mac n’ cheese. I ordered the Frida Kahlo: burger stuffed with monterrey jack cheese, topped with chorizo, a fried egg, guacamole and chipotle sauce. Be forewarned: it is impossible to eat this without making a mess. My boyfriend ordered the Willie Nelson: stuffed with cheddar cheese, topped with BBQ sauce, bacon, and an onion ring between Texas toast. We also ordered a side of onion rings(our favorite). Overall, the burgers were decent. The onion rings were horrible though. They tasted like the frying oil had gone bad. I would definitely not recommend them, even to my worst enemy. The servers were nice, but no where to be found at the end of our meal. We waited around for a good 5 minutes before I could finally wave someone down to get our check.

I am not sure what happened but this place was nothing like the awesome burgers served up at the location on E. Cesar Chavez. Perhaps, it needs time? Walked in and waited? Do I seat myself? I was confused. The staff was friendly but appeared disorganized. Burger was good but not great. I’ll have to try again in about three months if this place is still standing. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This is the worst service I have ever experienced! No straws, no lemons or limes. The floors are extremely slippery and the paint and ceilings are not finished out. Surprised the health department allows this!!! Will not be returning!!!

I am only giving three stars and not four for two specific reasons. Price and atmosphere. The burgers are really good. Nice unique selection. Good fries. Wait staff if friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. But please either choose btwn ESPN or the rock music, and not both to listen to. OK I am in my 40’s so maybe its my fault for being old. The other comment is price. $ 7.99 for a burger, no sides. Plus $ 1.75 for fries(single order, not a sharing plate) and another $ 2.50 for tea. Hmmm… with a tip that makes for an expensive lunch. I know they have a small lunch burger special which is a pretty decent deal, but please rethink your pricing strategy on the main burgers, or add fries for free or something. I dont see bringing the wife and kids for a $ 50 – 60 burger lunch on a Saturday.

I got a standard burger, the name of which I cannot recall. For all my love of food experience I always seem to get extremely simple options. I was happy to see that the establishment uses local beef but I did not see that it’s grass finished. We purchase grass fed beef, particularly ground beef that I make burgers with at home and I’ve grown spoiled. My first thought was that Your Mom’s felt like a less uppity version of hopdoddy’s. The burger was good, fun but unpretentious. The fries were decent and overall I found my experience to be right in the middle. I won’t be rushing out to eat here again but the food was good, the staff friendly and prompt. The quest for the best burger in Austin continues.

This place is amazing! Great burgers and THEBESTVEGGIEBURGER I have ever had! Irish nachos or fried potato salad are excellent starters an I am a fan of the John D. Rockefeller. Do yourself a favor and catch trivia and free beer! A true Austin specialty!

I’m always interested in trying new restaurants in the Oak Hill area, so when my wife told me that a burger restaurant had replaced T&N, I was excited to try it. When we walked in, I couldn’t help but notice that the floor was slippery, but not wet… more like slimy(a great feeling when you’re about to eat). We decided to start with fried pickles(chips, not spears), which I was unimpressed with. The breading was inconsistent(none on the sides and some parts had way too much) and neither the breading nor the pickle had that crunch you look for. For a burger, I had the Norma Jean, which is basically just a plain burger with traditional toppings, except that it’s stuffed with american cheese. It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t anything to write home about(or return for). The produce all seemed fresh, but the burger was under-seasoned and charred too much for my taste. On a more positive note, the staff was very friendly and the payment process(using Square, I think) is quick and painless. I appreciate not having somebody disappear with my credit card when I pay. Hopefully management takes notes of the issues and improves upon them, because I’d love a good burger option closer to home. I’ll stick to Five Guys and Wholy Cow for now and maybe try this place again in a few months when they’ve had a chance to get their kitchen together.

So happy that our favorite burger joint opened a nice space in the Oak Hill area. Although they just opened, the space has really been transformed from the old T&N. Great service, fabulous burgers(both veggie and beef), and for now they are BYOB. I talked to the staff and said a beer/wine license should be in effect in about a month or so. Nothing better than friendly service and a happy belly.
