We had such a good experience with Laura(owner of Welcome Home Realty) that I really feel strongly that other renters/prospective buyers should look her up. Here’s our story: 7 months ago, my fiancé and I moved to Austin and rented a house through Welcome Home Realty. We signed a year lease. A little over 5 months into our lease, I got a job in my hometown(on the west coast). We gave our landlord 30 day notice on October 31st, while planning on actually leaving the property on November 13th(not November 30th). Our landlord set us up with Laura to arrange showing the house to new tenants. In the course of corresponding with Laura, she found out that we would be leaving before the end of the month. She told us that it’s technically not legal for a landlord to collect rent from two tenants for the same time period and she told us that she would change the promotional materials to indicate an earlier«date available» to see if she could rent out the house before the end of the month. In fact, she quickly changed her materials and got the house rented started in mid-November — within 3 days of us leaving. It can’t be emphasized enough that our landlord paid her the same amount of money whether she rented the house out in mid-November or in early December. She had absolutely no reason to help us out in this way, beyond being an intrinsically helpful and kind person. I would absolutely encourage others to use her services because I feel it says a lot about her work ethic that she went the extra mile to save us money when it was clear she didn’t need to do so. In my interactions with her, she has been nothing but clear, honest, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. I would absolutely recommend that others work with her to rent or buy houses; if we were staying in Austin I would do so myself.
