Our first trip was for Sunday brunch. The menu isn’t your typical brunch menu. You may want to review it prior to coming. The staff is very friendly and tries very hard. The chef provided us a trio to sample on the house of some of his starters. My husband ordered the Uova Cotte. Which is a iron skillet with eggs, sausage, and grits. The eggs were a little soft for his taste but he made due. I had a hard time finding anything on the menu I wanted. I settled for the Margherita pizza. I wouldn’t order that any where but only thing on the menu that seemed ok. I ordered a Dr. Pepper and they do not have that. Got a Coke instead and came out in a 8 oz can they poured into my glass of ice. $ 2.5 for the Coke. No refills. Not sure why they don’t have a fountain machine since they do have a bar. Husband’s coffee was $ 3.50. They had some sort of bottom less mimosa in different flavors fro $ 10 which seems like a nice deal. However, we needed to be productive the rest of the day. Valet parking only. Free but of course you should tip. We will come back and try dinner but do not think will be back for brunch. I get trying to be fancy and different. Sometimes you just want the normal breakfast. I also wish people served brunch earlier. They serve it starting at 11am.

I have had the queen’s tea at the historic hotel on Victoria Island, Canada but afternoon tea at Visconti goes far beyond. The atmosphere of the hotel is elegant, the servers are very attentive but the tea and the food is amazing. My daughter invited me for tea for mother’s day and it was a wonderful experience. From the egg salad served in an egg shell garnished with caviar and gold bits to the scones with homemade grape and rosemary jelly to the artesian teas from the Himalayas — it was superb!

Called ahead to check if they were open for lunch. We were told we needed a reservation, so we did this. Upon arriving, there were only 3 – 4 tables that had anybody at them. Had the tagliatelle pasta. It was a little above average. When considering the price, it was just average. One of the people I was with had the porchetta. He gave it a 5⁄10.

What a hidden gem this restaurant is. Well worth the scenic drive from Austin. We ate at the bar on a Saturday lunchtime and the place was deserted. Nearly the entire menu is available at the bar and it’s refreshingly not egg-centric like so many places. We were looked after very, very well by Hannah, who spent 4 years cooking in restaurant kitchens before deciding to become a bartender. Her knowledge of the VERY authentic Italian menu items and drink ingredients was superb and she’s quite charming without being intrusive. She’s one of those bartenders you know are good because they never stop moving and keeping busy, even when they don’t have any orders to make. The salumi is made in house and was excellent. We tried the speck(smoked in-house), chicken liver pâté and coppa. All delicious. Bread basket was fabulous and full of surprises. The pulpo(octopus) had been cooked sous-vide to a silken softness and was the best I’ve had outside of Spain. The little rounds of potato in the dish had been made with a tiny melon-baller. The kitchen is obviously totally focussed on quality. On Wednesday and Thursday, starting at 4pm, there is apparently a happy hour with regular price drinks but a table of free food bites. I shall definitely be going back! FYI: It is valet parking only($ 10) and they don’t validate.

Just dined with four friends… sommelier and wait staff very helpful and prompt. Sea bass and veal delicious. Only disappointment was walking into the restaurant for dinner and no white tablecloths on the tables. Looked like the coffee shop.

Be prepared to pay $ 10 to park if you’re going to the restaurant. Meeting my wife for coffee, $ 20 before we walk in. This is pretty crazy! If you are about to spend money in the restaurant, charging for parking is ridiculous! Very short sighted business decision on the part of an accountant for sure. Good lesson in how to reduce sales growth. Now we will enjoy our $ 30 cappuccinos.

Nice cozy ambiance and everything we ordered was amazing. The service is over the top attentive and quality of food is second to none. What a great new spot in Westlake.

Brunch here was elegant and delicious. The place is a little out of the way, but that just makes it more special. And since the service was superb and the atmosphere magical, I didn’t even mind paying $ 10 for parking — you get what you pay for, and Visconti is upscale dining. The restaurant is new, bright and airy, and has a beautiful view. I recommend it for anyone looking for traditional, yet upscale Italian food.

Two sentence(fragment) review: Delicious food. Abysmal portion sizes. The food here is borderline Michelin star quality. The carbonara was excellent, though the pasta was cut a little bit too thin for my liking. The rendered fat from the guanciale provides the perfect fatty coating for the pasta. My brother’s chianti braised pork cheeks were wonderful. My truffle pasta special was fairy ordinary and I regret ordering it. The pork cheeks were better, but my rationale for ordering the pasta special was that the pork cheeks are a staple on their regular menu and I can order them any time; thus, I took a chance with the pasta special. The portion sizes, however, are extremely small. The carbonara was approximately 2.5 large forkfuls in size. One of my table mates ordered a double carbonara as an entrée and had dessert, and he was still hungry by the end of the meal. Now, small portion sizes are not necessarily a bad thing. You can always rectify this by simply ordering more dishes, and this is precisely what I will do in the future. Fortunately for Visconti they are situated near the wealthiest neighborhood in Austin, and so spending money doubling up on dishes is not an issue for 99% of their clientele. Uchiko uses a similar system where it’s typical for people to order 2 – 4 small plates during a meal. It’s important for people dining here to know that Visconti is similar. As a 6’0″ male weighing 160 lbs, one primi and one secondi at Visconti was not enough to fill me up. For someone of my height and weight, I would suggest two primis, one secondi, one side, and perhaps one dessert to share. I would’ve been satiated(albeit not«full») with that amount of food. The bread here leaves something to be desired. It’s mediocre, but frankly speaking most bread and most restaurants are mediocre. I’m eager to try out their bone marrow risotto next time I visit. Currently, Vespaio is the undisputed king of risottos in Austin.

After waiting 25 minutes for a drink to arrive and deciding whether to stay or go… we stayed. The food is OK but the service is terrible. Pour your own wine from an expensive bottle. Getting another cocktail was impossible. The pasta was a very small portion. We decided to skip dessert as we didn’t want to be any more disappointed than we were. A small party of 4 with 2 of us celebrating our birthdays this weekend(1 on Saturday and 1 today) and we wish we had chosen someplace else. Oh, did I say that the pasta appetizer was $ 20 and the main dishes were $ 50.

The food is WONDERFUL! The service is excellent and the ambiance is truly Italian! All of their meat is imported straight from northern Italy as that’s where the hotel owner is from and all of the fruits and vegetables are sourced locally.

I was so excited to try this restaurant when it finally opened and I was not disappointed. This might have been the best Italian food I’ve ever had! I definitely recommend the squid as an appetizer and the whole fish was delicious as well. Great place for a date night!

I dined at Visconti for dinner and was extremely happy with my meal. I had the gnocchi and whole fish. Hands down the best gnocchi I have ever had in my life. Fluffy and amazingly. The fish was also quite the treat. It was boneless which always makes for a pleasant fish experienced. Seasoned to perfection. The bread selection served before the meal was so tasty. I think we were served 3 or 4 types of bread! Excellent food at a very reasonable price for a fine dining experience.

Enjoyed my second visit to Visconti. The gentlemen I was with said it was an impressive place for a business lunch! Truly enjoyed seeing how quickly the staff was able to work out a few kinks I had seen on my first visit. Cannot wait to return!

Went there for lunch. Expensive menu items, too gourmet for Austin. Also, apparently we couldn’t sit outside, what? This is Austin, that’s what we do!!! I would recommend to management to make outside seating a priority — the hotel and restaurant has not embraced the Austin culture — a little stiff. Really nice grounds, hotel looked very nice, Love the new office structures for a cool un-named tech company… ;) Lunch dining recommendations: Change the menu, offer Austin-esque casual dining menu options, open up the patio — then you will see local business folks flock! ~Kevin

After anticipating the opening of Visconti and the Granduca for a year, and excited to have a high-end dining option in Westlake, I have been sadly disappointed on my 2 visits(breakfast & lunch) to Visconti. I host employee /client /vendor breakfasts & lunches several times a week and typically travel to the Four Seasons or another downtown upper end dining establishment. Visconti is just down the road from my office, so I was excited to have a solid option without the drive. Pros: Great location. Beautiful hotel. Easy valet. People jumping to help(everyone warmly greeted me and there are plenty of service staff smiling and welcoming). Great looking patio with comfortable looking seating outside. Staff that is trying hard. The bread basket — yum. You can see the details that went into the planning. Free wi-fi. Cons: — The menu. The menu has some excellent dishes prepared well, but the portions are very small. Further it is lacking variety. If you are not willing to select a gourmet Italian dish then you have no options. I would be hesitant to take guests to this restaurant unless I knew they were gourmets seeking a very particular menu. The menu further seems to fail to have considered Austin /Texas in its composition. I realize some of us do need to branch out in our dining choices, but I’d expect some significant changes in the menu will be necessary to bring in a larger lunchtime crowd. Austin has a culture and a vibe that is a part of those that live here and something desired by those that visit. — The patio looks nice, but I was told they are not serving meals there until the Spring as the staff is not trained to serve out there. Austin has some excellent weather November /December /January and patio dining can be in short supply along 360. When asked to sit outside I was declined. When at a high end service establishment, I would expect«sure we can do that for you.» — Service is still working out the kinks. My pasta dish took 40 minutes to arrive(and there were only 3 parties at the restaurant). At a high end restaurant, you expect service to be fluid and seamless. Visconti is still working out service elements and a bit elementary at this time. I“m guessing not much of the staff has prior experience in fine-dining(at least it appears that way). I’ll give Visconti a pass as I know its just week 2. Lunch was $ 75 for two people(prior to tip and with no alcohol). I’ll look forward to giving Visconti another try soon, but hope that changes are made to make this a 360 business lunchtime option sooner rather than later.

We would like to thank you and your staff for a tasty evening. We are confident that Visconti Ristorante will be a shining star in the Austin restaurant scene. We look forward to tasting more of Chef Parlo’s take on northern Italian cuisine. So many of the dishes remind of us our time traveling throughout Italy. It refreshing not have a same old same old menu that is often presented in Austin. This is a quick trip to Italy.
