I decided to give it another try. The same waitress got us as last time and she did an outstanding job. Much better service. Also best breakfast tacos in Austin. The salsa is perfect amount of spice for the tacos.

Small hole in the wall kind of place. Consistently good food. I would give them 5 stars except for parking sucks and if you have more than 4 people in your party seating can be difficult. Other than that this place is great!

This is a mom and pop Mexican dive restaurant in an old building that serves Mexican home cooking. The food is cheap, the portions large and the quality surprisingly good for a Mexican dive restaurant. The only exception is the quacamole, which is rather bland and expensive. The refried beans are surprisingly good and flavorful and one of the best I’ve had. Good refried beans are hard to find as most places have refried beans that are just ok or bland. The chicken enchiladas are good and the chicken is tender and lean. The service is decent and you seat yourself. Parking can be a pain during peak hours.

Great breakfast spot! Go by to try anything I’ve almost had it all. No powdered eggs or microwave bacon here. My wife loves chilequeles. Coffee isn’t bad either. Kind of strange for local spots like that. It’s always packed in the mornings so be prepared… If Mexicans like it you know it’s good Mexican food. You don’t see Mexicans lined up outside taco cabana do you?

Decent breakfast tacos, average flour tortilla sized, the default red sauce is mildly hot. parking is awful. I would come back but it may be easier to just über/​lyft and get dropped off bc parking there is not going to happen.

Definitely not Mexican and very cheap food. I’d like to point out that I am Mexican and this is basically Taco Bell quality food that’s too Americanized. It’s not Mexican and it’s not Tex-​Mex. The guac is flavorless and has the consistency like it comes pre-​made from a bag. I would not recommend this place unless you have no palette and want «authentic» Mexican food. Oh, it’s also way overpriced. 9 $+ for a lot of meals…

This place is one of my favorite places to eat! Everyone is friendly. The food is inexpensive and quality. I love their crispy taco plate! The rice and beans are delicious and I am SUPER PICKY about my rice and beans. Their guacamole is simply and fresh. My kids love their breakfast tacos while my husband prefers the beef fajitas. Their chips and salsa are good too. They won’t let you take your chips home though… they want to charge you $ 3 to take them even though they are just going to throw them away when you leave anyway. I asked for a to go bag and she said she would have to charge me… but whatever I will just eat them there. The parking is not good here but the food is very good. Except their enchiladas-​tried them once and the sauce was off putting but my mom loved them… I am very picky about enchiladas too… but everything else is great!

Athentic mexican food and its DELISH! Love Dalali! «Not Delilah, De-​la-​lee» lol. She’s sweet and a really good server.

Had a late lunch. the pastor plate. very delicious tender pieces of pork, refried & rice added. also some chopped cilantro and onion. The chips are crispy and the salsa is smooth, spicy and very tasty. will be back.

Excellent authentic Mexican food in Austin.
Very friendly service, delicious food (especially the tacos), big portions and unbeatable prices.

This is based on just one visit so adjust accordingly. The enchilada plate I ordered for lunch was fine, pretty average but I thought 2 enchiladas with rice and beans (both tasty but small portions) for $ 9.50 was overpriced. The chips were OK, the ‘salsa’ was very saucy and rather bland, no bits of tomato, onion or peppers to be found. My companion’s Chalupa plate was somewhat more substantial however the tostadas had no beans on them, only some chicken, cheese and salad. There was no lunch menu either, same prices all day. Sorry but at these prices I’m not encouraged to return.

My good friend and I heard about this place and decided to check it out… The menu has several good options. I ordered tacos al pastor, and barbacoa. You can’t have tacos without salsa so asked for salsa verde because the nacho salsa wasn’t really my thing… The waitress told us that there is a $ 2.25 dollar fee for salsa verde! My mother has a food truck and when I told her this, or anyone I’ve told this to has been floored, and shocked that a Mexican Restaurant would charge extra for salsa! It’s like charging extra for ketchup, or mustard at a burger joint! Never been to a Mexican that charges for salsa !

After Mike V.‘s ROTD for this place, I definitely had to come check it out. The other reviews were not kidding when they said parking was scarce — I was lucky and got a spot easily, but definitely keep it in mind that you might be searching for a place to park. Totally worth it, though, even if you do have to search. Trust me — just make the parking happen and Vazquez will reward you with delicious Mexican food.
The salsa was great and they serve it to you in a little pitcher so you can eat as much or as little as you want. Brilliant. The level of spice was perfect and it’s a smooth salsa — no chunks here! Just like I like it. Chips were fresh and all of it was devoured within a few minutes because yum.
I got the Sarita’s Enchiladas, which comes with two cheese enchiladas with carne guisada gravy, rice, and beans. So. Freakin’. Good. I’m usually a painfully slow eater, but I practically inhaled this because it was delicious and I hadn’t eaten all day. The carne guisada gravy comes with nice chunks of carne guisada. Yum, yum, yum. The rice and beans were super tasty, too, and you won’t find any bland food here.
Vazquez looks like a small town, hole in the wall Mexican restaurant, and I love that. It’s how I know the food will be great.
If you’re having difficulty finding this place, it is right before Chicken Lollypop.

This is one of my favorite breakfast joints in Austin. They have pretty good food all around, but I feel their specialty is in breakfast food. Their omelettes and breakfast taco’s are very yummy. It is in a small old building in North Austin they might fit the definition of «hole in the wall». The space is a little small and they are very busy during peak weekend brunch hours, so keep that in mind if you go. Also, one small drawback is that since it is a old building, the ventilation is not great, so your clothes will definitely smell like Mexican food after eating there. But then again that adds to the overall experience.

This place rocks!!! I have been to all 4 but am reviewing this one since I frequent it most. So I have lives here for almost 5 years and have been here at least once every other week since moving. Its awesome, I dont know how they get their meat so tender and delicious but they do an amazing job. I love the beef fajita tacos with guacamole. Its definitely a hole-​in-​the-​wall but you’ll be glad you stopped. I always recruit new customers for them and tell everyone at work where my tacos are from. See you soon!!!

We’ve been to several Vazquez locations in the Austin/​Round Rock area, but this one is not our favorite. It’s probably the biggest one we’ve been to, but has the smallest parking lot. We’ve only attempted to go on the weekends (still early, too!) and have to drive down the side street and park in a neighboring business’s lot in order to eat here. We suppose that’s ok, there’s a sign that says «Vazquez Parking.» But sadly the food we’ve had here isn’t as good either. The bacon in our bean/​bacon/​potato breakfast tacos was undercooked to the point it wasn’t anywhere near brown.
So we’ll continue to head north to the Round Rock location or west to the Research/​Lake Creek Parkway location where we have yet to be disappointed in parking AND food quality. Maybe it was just this one time, but considering we’ve attempted to eat here several times before and weren’t able to park anywhere at all, it’s not worth our time to continue to try.

Ok. Its finally time to let you in on my favorite, hole in the wall, Tex-​Mex restaurant. Vasquez has been the go to lunch spot for my team from Samsung for years now and it never dissappoints. Chips and salsa are fantastic. My kids call the salsa volcano sauce because it can be quite spicy, but tons of flavor. Just get one of their massive glasses of water and try not to ruin your appetite.
The portions are huge and generally under $ 10 so it’s great value. I love the carne cuisada plate and I get 2 huge tacos out of it and have a leftover carne cuisada salad afterwards. Problem is, it’s so good I end up cleaning my plate and leave absolutely stuffed.
Everything I have ever tried here has been wonderful so just take your pick. Well made food with good service. Parking is a bitch as it is small and cramped and gets very busy, but make the effort. It’s worth it.
If your a little farther north, there is another location in Round Rock off of Sam Bass road. Same great food, slightly better parking but even smaller inside.

Absolutely magnificent! A small Ma & Pa joint with kind service and very tasty food that packs in the people.
Don’t miss out on this place if you’re in the area. Shoot, it’s even worthy of coming out of your area for.

Vasquez slams, hard.
Portions are large, prices are low, customer service is good.
Parking can be crowded and very tight
The food is typical but well executed.
I have one major complaint — they don’t make their own tortillas. It’s a pet peeve of mine, but a home made tortillas is the difference between commonly good mexican food to 5 star, really f’ing good mexican food.

Well no wonder I couldn’t find parking right away, and had to walk what seemed like a half a mile to the front door! The food is very authentic and amazing!
I like to judge a Mexican or Texmex restaurant by a few simple things: their salsa, guisada, pastor, and ambiance.
The guisada is perfectly seasoned, and very tender. The pastor was perfectly cooked and the fresh cilantro and onions complimented the pork well. The salsa they delivered to the table in a small pitcher, was not only tasty, but had just the right amount of heat, not so much to overpower the flavors of the other food. To top off my experience, I had Texas’s, own Selena’s Como La Flor, blasting in my ears while I enjoyed my awesome tacos!
If someone told me I was going to have a TACOGASM, this early on a Tuesday morning, I would have called them a liar!
Hole in the wall, maybe… But I will definitely be back to further explore the menu!
