The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas

The WFFT has so many great events: Tour de Vin, Big Reds and Bubbles, the Stephen Pyles Scholarship Dinner, Taste Washington etc. The prices range from dear to a steal, depending on the event, but every event is a winner. I’ve been a member now for several years and can thank them for many a wonderful evening. WFFT brings you fine pairings and wonderful speakers so you are guaranteed to be entertained, educated and very well supped. Perhaps it’s time for an update…
WFFT still puts on some killer events, but the last few were overbooked or overpriced. A few events seem to be mainly for sommeliers. To me, sommeliers are not celebrity chefs; sorry. I would like to see more winemaker’s dinners, featured chefs with wine pairings and wine expos that highlight regions or varietals. The Ribera expo was fantastic. In short, focus on food and wine in the community. The big, overly crowded galas are fine once in a while, but more intimate, more modest food and wine events are often more satisfying and I hope to see more of those.
