The Madison

I feel like this place has so much potential. The few times I’ve been here, it’s been mostly empty, which is really surprising. The décor is unique and looks awesome. The bartenders are all super friendly. Every single time I’ve been here, the DJ has been great. Great space for dancing and hanging out, I’m definitely a fan.

My reviews is for the Madison as an event space. My friend hosted an event here and this was a great venue for it. It is kind of hidden but still in a good location downtown on 5^th St but away from the typical E./W. 5^th St shenanigans… errrrr fun. There is a parking garage (Chase garage) across the street and cheaper parking down the street.
The décor of this venue is pretty funky and swanky. The floor is black and white tile with some red furniture. The front room as you enter has a bar and some seating along the wall. As you continue walking you enter a good size room with seating along the perimeter and what could be a dance floor in the middle and a DJ booth up top. Keep going back and there are the restrooms along with stairs to take you up. Once you’re in the balcony area there is another bar and some seating as well as an open space (to dance or wait in line for a drink. It was pretty warm in the balcony area the day I was there. Also, if doing a private event where you will be talking down below on the main level, the guests upstairs will have a hard time seeing and hearing and feel separated from the main group.
The staff and bartenders were pretty nice. I didn’t have any issues with my drinks or tab. All in all if you’re looking for an event space be sure to stop and check out the Madison!

ENVIRONMENT:
The club was popping for the entire night from the moment I got there until I left at 3am. The place was packed and for the most part everyone was having a good time considering how crowded it was. I’m not sure who the Dj was but he was on point the entire night and when he dropped some Texas H Town tracks the whole club went crazy.
I will be back soon.

This place is amazing! We had reserved a VIP section last night to celebrate a friend’s birthday and it was a great experience. The owner, Justin, was prompt in responses while setting up the reservation and he even came to our section and introduced himself. The bottle service with attentive staff was superb. DJ Hellayella did not disappoint with the music. The club is plush and trendy. I plan on celebrating here again. Definitely a spot Austin needed.

I agree with Melissa W.‘s comments. I also used the Madison to host an event, and it went great. The owners and staff are easy to work with, responsive, and kind. Also, if you get the chance try out their place next door– The Roosevelt Room

Recently had a private event here and I can’t say enough how easy it was to plan and execute. The owners are responsive and professional. They’re happy to do whatever it takes to provide a perfect event and they’re economical as well. I looked at many different event spaces for a 100 person party and the prices were outrageous. This was one of the only places that seemed fair in cost.
I received a lot of compliments about how nice the venue is and how awesome the bartenders and staff was during the event. Whatever issues happened during the event the owners were happy to make it right and offered to reimburse dollars if there was anything I was unhappy about. Not to mention the location is fantastic.
Highly recommend for private events!

Probably one of the coolest looking interiors I’ve seen in Austin. I know they do ladies night, 80’s night and 90’s nights; but if you tryin to get turnt go here on a Saturday. Best crowd dj and mc Ive seen out in a loooong time. Seriously just do it. No bro’s, no fights just people a lot of people dancing and having a great time. A nice change of pace from the 6^th street sh*t show.

This is one of the few nightclubs in the city and probably has the most interesting look inside. Every time I go somebody asks who Madison is and I guess she’s the face on the logo.
Once inside, the dance party can explode with loungey couches and different music from the standard «Top 40“that plagues every other bar and club in Austin. I’ve heard 90’s Hip Hop, EDM, and even period Pop songs from the 80’s and 90’s as throwbacks.
We may never know who Madison really is but I do know she has a heck of a club.

Best experience yet there this weekend! Fun atmosphere, attractive/​attentive bartenders, cool music and fantastic drink specials! I’ll definitely be coming back next weekend!

The scenery here is amazing and the service is excellent. If you want exceptional service with an awesome atmosphere, then the Madison is the place to be!

I really used to hate visiting the Madison every so often. But I hadn’t been in a very long time. My experience this time was better than all the others and I think it’s because the bar seems different in a good way. I’ll definitely be back more often and bring a ton of people with me. The bar staff is also way better. This is most definitely a higher standard of service compared to many other venues in the downtown area. The music could use some tweaking. Too many old songs that attract the wrong type of people. But overall this place is definitely headed back in the right direction from the crap it used to be.

80s dance night was OVER THE TOP. what a place. Groovy Baby !! Excellent vibe — nice crowd. Bartenders were friendly and always kept my glass full. Will be back.

The Madison was the perfect venue for our company event! We have parties for our 200 employees and their +1s every quarter and have never felt so at home, well taken care of and felt the affects of positive ROI so strongly as we did at The Madison. The new management of the venue is very attentive to detail and highly communicative. I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a group outing our a fun night out on the town!

The new ownership for this venue is totes awesomesauce. We hosted a company event at the venue, and the event went off without a hitch. Prior to the event dealing with management was SO simple and straightforward. They helped us come up with interesting specialty drinks, worked with us to provide the DJ some options, and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. During the event the staff was very attentive and friendly. Being treated well is one of the most important things to our group! I highly recommend The Madison for group/​corporate events. I also highly recommend the 90s HipHop Dance Party.

Booked my sororitys’ formal here and the new owners made it so easy, offering us a dj and catering for a great price!!! This place is amazing. It has a great vibe, very clean and good set up especially for a private event. The food was amazing, we got the desert bar and cheese platter, lots of variety and enough for everyone! The dj was really good too! Kept my sorority dancing the whole night!
Could not have asked for a better venue. They made everything so stress free. Can’t wait to go back for a normal night out!

I tried to book a private party here, or at the least talk to someone about doing so. Based on the website, which did provide a good bit of detail, it seemed perfect for my event, 6 months away — they could even provide a DJ.
I called and left a voice mail, then submitted my info on their website contact form on the same day. A few days later, when I’d heard nothing, I called again, got Adam, told him about my event, and he said the event planner was in a meeting but would call me that afternoon. When I had not heard from her the following afternoon, I called again and this time spoke with her. She was very nice and helpful, said she would confirm availability for that date on her calendar, and email me some info right away.
Two days later, I’d heard nothing so called and left a voice mail. Another 4 or 5 days later, I both submitted a note on their website contact form and emailed at the address listed on their website, asking that they get back to me by the end of that week (2 or 3 days out) so I could move forward with plans. That was 10 days ago and I have still heard NOTHING.
If they’re booked, they’re booked, but LET ME KNOW! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. And it’s a shame, b/​c the place and their structure & pricing for private events seemed just perfect. I am now looking for a venue, again.

This place has so much potential! Dark, slick, sweet lazers on the bangin dancefloor and stiff drinks. But whenever I’ve been there on a regular Saturday without any specific event going on, its half empty.
Great place to go with a group who wants to get down and dirty to some really club-​y dance music, which can be tricky to find in Austin outside of the gnarly dirty 6^th bars. Will definitely check it out again, especially if they put on some drink specials to get a bigger crowd through the door.

I hadn’t even heard of The Madison until I was invited to a private charity event they hosted. This does limit my information on prices and drink choices since it was a limited open bar. However, I did get to experience the service and to location, and I have mixed feelings.
The inside of The Madison is pretty awesome. It’s for a decent sized bar area and the inner room is spacious to say the least. The music choices, while really good, are blasted to 11 leaving any chance for small talk eliminated. Then again, who is really trying to have a conversation when you’re dancing up on the nearest person.
The bartenders are nice enough, if not a little unsure of their drink selections. Ask for a Fireman 4 and you’ll get a look of uncertainty from some of the staff. I would like to experience this place on a regular night. I could see it being a fun place when I’m craving a night out boozing and dancing.

Just meh. It is gorgeous and hip inside, just like a hot club that you will find in any big city but The Madison just doesn’t deliver the way it should.
I’ve never seen more than than 20 people here at any given time and on my last visit it was a Saturday night and we were the only ones there so kept getting free drinks — I think the staff was just so bored they were grateful for someone, anyone, to be there!
They play AMAZING music here and it would be a great spot to go if you don’t care about crowds and just want to dance your heart out.
