Jim is literally the best out there. I used him to inspect my short sale home a few years ago. I bought the home from a developer who ran out of money for his project. I was worried the developer cheated and cut corners. Jim carefully assessed all areas of my home and gave me a HUGE report on the areas that needed to be improved. I am glad it was HUGE because it told me whether to move forward or not with the home. His report includes pictures for each comment. He spent over 4 hours in my home.
I am writing this review after a few years from the time I used him because now I have another inspection company to compare him to. I am selling my home and the buyers inspector only spent 1 hour in my home! He also did not take pictures and did not fully enter the attic! Although I have not seen this person’s full report, I automatically know that the inspector is not detail oriented.
Also, I just had my new house, which is in Houston, inspected. The inspection person there was not detailed and had taken no pictures and did not check all outlets for GFCI or shorts, etc. I had to push him to do this (except for the pictures since he didn’t have a camera). Also his comments were not clear and were written in almost a different language. I have since asked for a refund. I did not ask Jim to inspect this home because it was so far away but I wish I did!
HIRE Jim because you will feel better that you did!

Jim Inmon IS «as good as it gets!» Not only is he a talented, knowledgable & incredibly professional inspector, he also CARES about his clients and the house they have chosen. I am a Realtor, and have seen the work of many different inspectors, and in my opinion, there is none to surpass Jim. He is a straight shooter, and calls it like he sees it. He has saved some of my clients from making a costly mistake!
And, BTW, he is easy to communicate with, but he doesn’t read emails while doing inspections — and many inspections last 6 — 7 hours at a time.
He gives his full attention to the matter at hand, and only then, returns emails.
I rate him a 5 +.

It’s my first time buying a home so I read some books and asked Jim Inmom questions about EVERYTHING! He is a very knowledgeable professional who enjoys his work and sharing his knowledge. Highly recommended.

Jim Inmon was incredibly professional, objective, and thorough. I used him twice, once before closing on a new home and again a year later, to see if there were any issues I needed to bring up with the home’s builder before the builder’s one year warranty expired. Only reason why I am not giving him five stars is that it would be great if he were a bit easier to reach with regard to e-​mail, etc. At the time I used him, he only communicated via phone (which for me, is less than ideal.) Otherwise, he was, like I said, a consummate professional.
