My experience at Tekilas, which is a horrid name to begin with was unpleasant for the most part. When we walked in the music was blasting so loud we couldn’t hear each other talk. I had to ask them to turn it down. Next to us were 6 drunk rednecks sexually harassing the servers and using profane language. This explains why the music was so loud so they didn’t have to listen to their ramblings. The server could barely speak English and spoke to us in Spanish most the the time. The food wasn’t bad for Tex-Mex and all I really liked was the salsa. My girlfriend wanted a flan and they were out. They were out of every dessert in the menu actually. There’s way too many options in Austin to waste your money on this place.

Be careful! They make unauthorized transactions to your bank account. Happened twice. Charged my card even though we was not there or didn’t place an order.

Girls were cleaning and moving things when I came in. Service was friendly but fairly slow. Salsa and guac were not good. Pricing was a bit high for dinner and the reason they didn’t get three stars… Wait for it… wait for it… They changed their name to something different recently and then refused my use of their certificate I had just purchased. Carne asada was pretty good and their horchata too.

This place was horrible! The waitress didn’t speak or understand a word of English and seemed very confused when we asked for bean and cheese and carne guisada tacos. These are basic Mexican tacos! The carne guisada was gross and my daughter didn’t even eat her second bean and cheese taco because the first one was just so bad.

While I was on my way to the(9:00AM appointment) Auto Dealership for a oil change and 7 point check I decided to stop in at this location for a fast breakfast Taco or two. As I was walking in I was greeted by a cheerful/friendly waitress and took me to my table. Walking to my seat I noticed that only two tables had patrons with four persons in each. One table already had their food served and the other was still waiting. So I knew I would be in and out in no time… at least I had thought I would. I was asked what I wanted to drink and gave my order. As she returned to the table she asked if I was ready to order and I said yes. I asked if they had Barbacoa tacos(cheek meat) that day? and she asked if I also wanted it with cilantro and onion? I said yes. Then I asked if they had Machacado con huevo? She said yes and how many… So I ordered two Tacos de Barbacoa and one of Machacado. This was at 8:05AM!?! at 8:35AM my order was finally at my table. Knowing that I had a five minute drive to the auto agency and only 20 mins left I started to eat. Now for the review of these tacos… The Machacado con huevo(Dried Beef with egg) was in a home made flour tortilla that looked ok but a bit stiff. More like it was left outside and got air dry. As I opened the taco to add some salsa(good salsa BTW) I could not help but notice… The egg was burnt. I mean it was dark brown and very dry… as if they walked away from the stove top and forgot it was there… it was obviously burnt… so I added LOTS of salsa to help add some moisture to the taco. After a couple of bites I decided to completely pass on this taco altogether… Heart Burn in the making stuff… I picked up the Barbacoa taco and took a bite and realized it was not good. So then I opened the Barbacoa taco to add some salsa and noticed a strange smell. More like a stench that would kill any appetite at best… It was 60% meat and 40%-fat. :(After picking out the fat I had a much smaller taco and smelled it again… Still bad and I decided to just eat the bill and walk out… so with over 8 bucks I learned a lesson… NO more tacos from here… Now I don’t know how the rest of the menu items are so I can’t comment on that but for Machacado and Barbacoa tacos I will pass.

Definitely authentic Mexican food! Our waitress didn’t speak English very well but she was very sweet and very attentive. My husband tried cactus for the first time and really liked it. My sons decided to order off the breakfast menu… they loved the breakfast tacos and the pancakes were fluffy and incredibly good! I got enchiladas… they were good but had a green sauce that I didn’t love.

Hidden treasure. Great authentic Mexican food. I had soup called zapole. Delicious. The location is a bit remote and when I attempted to bring a group of folk later the same day, We were turned away. I was told by a staff member that they were open til midnight we got there around 11:30. It’s small and homey otherwise with a sm. bar.

I’ve been staying at a hotel within walking distance for the past week… Food was good, until today, I order the pollo con mole and knowingly they give me a tiny chicken thigh, and over compensate on the refried beans. I call and let them know I am not amused by the size… I walk back over and I speak to the same fucking moron I spoke to on the phone… I show him my food and he says it’s not his fault. Don’t charge people that amount of money when I chose your establishment over the Burger King next door for a whole week. He then blames the waitress for not telling me the size before hand and says that if I want an extra piece it will come out of her pocket. Fuck your fucking customer service and I hope that bastard gets fired and the service will get then better. Fucking bastard made me walk back to the restaurant only to piss me off more… Fucker!

not bad… but not great. a bit below average for me… was looking for something close to my hotel, reviews sounded good. but I was a bit disappointed. waitress«no hablo ingles» y yo hablo un poquito espanol. which led to me ordering tea instead of the coke I wanted because she said yes when I asked if the coke was canned. turned out it wasn’t, free refills listed on menu. enchiladas suizas had a faintly sweet taste from maybe cinnamon in the pollo guisada filling. didn’t seem to meld well with the sauce and cheese. excess salt from enchiladas was needed by the beans. and if you don’t like peas and carrots in your Mexican rice– u really aren’t going to like the veg-all they use :) service was lackluster, maybe from my lack of Spanish. other patrons at the time were fluent. tortillas did taste homemade. restaurant is an old Pizza Hut. I passed it and had to park at Burger King. based on my visit, definitely not someplace I would go out of my way to eat at. maybe other menu items are more successful. but I usually judge a Mexican restaurant by 3 things: beans, rice and tortillas. 1 outa 3 ain’t bad, but it’s not exactly good either!

We came to use a certificate. They would not take the mobile option. You have to print it out. I reported it to Restaurant.com’s Customer Service. They only had four items on the children’s menu and they were out of two of them. The food was not good. I feel certain we will not be back. This was our first and last visit.

Yea about my previous review… the service is now so slow that you can no longer eat in a lunch hour. We sat waiting 40 minutes for our food and are now driving back to our office to eat as quickly as possible with take out boxes. This time I got the enchiladas de camaron. Ew. It is full of tiny little, less than half inch, poor excuses for shrimp. They want to charge $ 10 for this crap? I am disgusted. This is the worst meal I have had maybe ever. I can’t remember being this disgusted and disappointed with a meal. I wish I could give zero stars.

We tried this place because it had 4 stars on Unilocal and we didn’t know that area of town very well. The restaurant itself looks like an outdated waffle house that’s been«Mexinized» on the inside. We sat at what looked like a booth but was actually a rickety portable table covered with a plastic table cloth. The menus were sticky and hadn’t been wiped down in a while. Okay fine. Let’s order… We start with the classic margarita on the rocks. HELLOJOSECUERVO Gold, I’m drunk! It’s my least favorite tequila, but at least I only needed one drink to last me through dinner. The queso was queso, but the chips tasted like they may have been warmed in old oil. However, I do have to give props on the tacos. I had the carne guisada and carnitas tacos on flour tortillas. The carne guisada was a little sweet, which was unusual to me, but actually quite tasty. The carnitas was fatty and had a good grilled flavor. Sprayed with lime… mmmm mmmm. Will I come back to Tekila’s? Probably not, but the tacos were cheap and delicious, so I won’t discourage others from at least trying it once.

Cheap food, open late. I like the chicken fajita tostada with beans, avocado, sour cream for $ 3. $ 2 margaritas during happy hour on Tuesdays(I’m 90% sure it’s Tuesday), which is awesome. I just don’t like the atmosphere. It’s too bright and it’s always FREEZING! Bring a sweater! This place gets a very solid 3-stars because it’s decent, but nothing to write home about.

Bumping them up a star for their consistently good tortillas, salsa and green sauce. Most inexpensive breakfast tacos in this area.

Cute location, guess it was named something else before. Pay at the register. We shared a camarones diabolos — not bad and taco al carbon,. Extra guacomole tastes pretty good — comes in a cute little cup. They also sell mexican candy at the checkout desk. Friendly staff and quick service.

What can I say? awesome food! This place is one of those places you stumble upon and are glad you did. We were hungry for a light lunch so just shared some appetizers, and holy cow they were good! If you’re around Austin(south Austin I guess more accurately) go give this place a try. You won’t be sorry.
