Very disappointed!!! I walked in on a Sunday morning to grab breakfast Tacos and was coldly greeted by the young lady behind the counter. A simple question of do you have coffee had the same response as if I asked her to kill someone… just disgust and frustration. When I got my Egg bacon and potato tacos the eggs were super runny. I sat eating and drinking my coffee with her moving the chairs around my table to sweep and then bleach the floor. The place was empty so why she felt the need to clean under my table as I was eating really surprised me. I could understand if I came in right at closing but this was 2 hrs before !!! Let’s just say that the smell of bleach under your feet adds no flavor to the runny eggs. Combined with the cooks radio, the store radio and the tv going all at the same time I will definitely pass on the Taco Shack next time I visit Austin. The pics didn’t attach correctly but you can she her washing floor under my table and the bucket of bleach beside me.

Great breakfast tacos. They get all the details a bit off, but the sum of the parts adds up to a fantastic taco, which really hits the spot. And they’re not small!

This place is convenient to most of its customers that’s why its busy. If you walk 2 more blocks up you can get a better breakfast or lunch at 7 – 11 oh and much much cheaper, the heavy set Hispanic guy at the register in the mornings is rude and never looks at you, he makes you feel like you are bothering him, I think he over charges as well, the prices are never consistent. When I do HAVE to make an office run for some of my coworkers I wait until I know Anna will be at the register she is sweet and always has a smile. I bet I would like the food a little if they would get rid of Mr Grouchy Pants.

Ate lunch at Taco Shack today. Ordered the two fish taco plate. Very tasty and affordable. Came out quickly, too. Tasty and budget friendly.

Solid for the price. Not the best breakfast tacos Austin has to offer, but still pretty decent. One of the few places you can get a hearty breakfast burrito, though, that is absolutely stuffed with breakfast essentials — for less than $ 6.

This was my first time to the Taco Shack and I LOVED it! Cheap and filling breakfast tacos and so many different ways to order them the way you like. Most customer order their tacos to go, so there is more than enough seating if you choose to eat in. My only real complaint is because it’s in downtown, you’d have to find pay parking if you wanted to sit down and eat for a while. However its perfect if you already work or live in the downtown area. I definitely recommend the breakfast tacos, which are delicious! I’ll be coming back next time we’re staying in downtown again!

Solid breakfast tacos at a good price for our group visiting from out of town. We headed to this place as it was near our hotel and a lot of the other places nearby had run out of breakfast tacos by the time we got there. Had a delicious taco with black beans, avocado, egg and cheese on a flour tortilla. Simple but delicious.

Solid breakfast especially for the price. Flour Tortillas are solid and you can’t get a bigger more Texas(hook em) sized breakfast than the Bevo Burrito. On a different trip I tried the bowl. It’s a small bowl but I think equals two to three taco fillings. Great low carb no tortilla option that you build yourself(4 fillings).

Meh… They are ok if you are downtown and need a quick bite. I had the Texan and a Migas taco. Both tasted ok but the store-bought tortillas left a lot to be desired. Maybe I am biased being from south TX and used to good, homemade tortillas. Also, the fact that they are way overpriced($ 7 for 2 tacos) makes me less likely to go back. I would say they are just ok. Definately some better tacos available in the area for lower price.

Going to Austin and not getting a breakfast taco is like going to Miami and not getting a cuban sandwich — it would be craziness. Scoped out places near my hotel when I was recently in town, and was delighted a taco spot was close for breakfast. It did not disappoint. Each breakfast taco is $ 3 and change, stuffed with quite a bit of happiness. My husband got the burrito and couldn’t finish — my recommendation is to try the rainbow of selections on the taco menu and eat happy. The best, which made me get up and re-order was the Texan — perfectly seared generous portions of steak with scrambled eggs.

**5STARSFORBREAKFAST !!** The main reason this place gets 3 stars, is that their lunch plates and lunch items just don’t stay up to par with breakfast. Granted, I eat more breakfast than lunch here, but typically don’t enjoy lunch as much.

Always fast and fresh! One of the only spots that put a full strip of bacon in per taco! Staff is alway nice and attentive. Favorite breakfast tacos downtown!

Bland, boring, overpriced. Our party ordered three items from the menu… none were memorable. The help yourself salsa area needed help. Mainly refill the empty salsa containers. The diet coke was the highlight of our meal.

For downtown food, this place is one of the cheaper options and while it won’t wow you, it does do a serviceable job feeding someone hungry. I got a beef fajita burrito with rice and though not massively huge, had your standard pliable tortilla, some refried beans, mexican rice and some fajita meat. Nothing outstanding but it certainly wasn’t bad. The green salsa is fireballing hot, so watch out for that!

Taco Shack has been my go to spot from work for years when i’m in the mood for tacos for lunch and I don’t want to drive or spend more than $ 5 – 6. You won’t get fancy here, but you will get crunchy taco shells, decent ground beef and toppings and you’ll only pay about $ 1.20 per taco. Simple and old school, but sometimes that is all you want or need. The breakfast tacos are average here as well, and you could do worse than getting the bacon egg cheese tacos here for sure.

Ugh. Wait… double ugh! It’s been about 1.5 years since I tried this place. Back then it was ok — not worthy of a review either way. This time… see the previously mentioned ughs! Today I ordered the lunch special. They have a little sign hanging HIGH above the cashier. If you can squint and read the fine print, you notice it’s three crispy beef tacos with rice, beans and a fountain drink for 5.99. wow! great price! Not so fast penny pincher mcScrooge. you get what you pay for. I ordered said special to go. And by the way… put the lunch special in an easier to read spot. Not all of us are Yao Ming tall. On a visual display at my desk, the meal look ok. The tacos were so soggy on the bottom that when I took one bit the center fell out. All three tacos… same results. .25 star for consistency at least. The food was lukewarm at best. Rice, beans, tacos… all lukewarm. I work three blocks from the restaurant. How did the entire meal in a styrofoam container get lukewarm in three blocks?! 0 stars for lukewarm food. The flavor… well, let’s just say LACK of flavor. I actually stopped eating the rice and beans because they are bland. I get if this was a Tex-Mex restaurant in Mississippi or Alabama where they might not understand flavor, but for crying out loud you are in Texas! 0 stars for flavor. The fountain drink(remember that was part of the lunch special) was good. I chose Coke. I recommend Coke. Perhaps though, get a Coke at a different location. .75 star for Coke. Thus 1 star. Oh, yeah, I forgot. UGH!

Yum, get the El Nino breakfast taco. There are better b-fast taco places in Austin, but if you’re downtown and want to find a quick place that’s walking distance, Taco Shack is the place! The prices are fair, the salsa’s tasty, and the tacos come out quickly. They only have a red and green salsa, but I will forgive them.

This place is pretty disgusting. The cashier didn’t even know what Horchata was! Got served some sloppy cafeteria food, the avocado and fries were frozen cold, the tortillas were the store bought chewy ones, and the coffee tasted awful. It’s a waste of a good location.

For breakfast tacos, this is my go-to. They have never done my breakfast tacos wrong and the tortillas are of a quality that blows my mind. However, they are smaller and they do close pretty early in the day, making it not the most reliable taco joint for your every day taco needs. I think we praise them for what they are, an amazing small taco shop in the busy downtown section. By far the best(and cheapest) breakfast tacos you will get downtown.

This is my go-to place for breakfast when at SXSW(and when theres no sponsored free food around). Hands down the best breakfast tacos in downtown Austin(and close to the convention centre). And also well priced.
