Sundek of Austin

Working with Sundek was easy; they are friendly and professional. The representative showed up on time, walked us through their process, made recommendations based on our feedback and gave us a quote at the conclusion of the appointment. A few days later they delivered samples of the deck material and color so we could make sure that what we picked out met our expectations. Their contract was straight forward and appropriate. The crew was able to start a day early. They were polite and answered my questions. They protected everything around the project. They worked diligently They completed slightly faster than predicted. As a result our patio is gorgeous and exactly what we wanted. Thank you Sundek (Scott, Kevin, Sarah and crew)

In July of 2012 we had Sundek redo our pool deck. The coating done by another company was deteriorating. Sundek assured us they would stand behind their installation. Shortly after the installation was complete my husband called regarding a few minor issues. Scott came out and looked at the items and said they would take care of it. Nobody ever showed up or contacted us. The decking has deteriorated in several places and needs to be repaired. My husband contacted Sundek in October 2015 and they set up an appointment for Scot to come out. He called the day of the appointment leaving a voice message saying he was sick and asking us to call and reschedule. My husband called and left a voice message for him to call to schedule a date for the inspection. No response from Scott. I called and Scott answered his phone and said he was driving. He said he would phone me when he got to the office in 15 minutes. He never phoned. Totally disappointed in this company! If they stand behind their work it is so far back that you will never see them again.
After posting this review Sundek contacted us. They came out and agreed to fix the problem areas. They did come out in December and did a very good repair job.

We built our pool in 2004, and we had Sundek for all our decking. I wish we had never used this product. It started peeling off within the 1^st year. They came and tried to «repair» the decking by patching it. What a disaster. The surface is chipping everywhere! Do NOT buy this product. I have taken pictures over the years. Our entire deck surface needs to be replaced, and it really looks horrible. After the substandard job they did and the «repair», I would never call them again nor would I recommend this product.

I wish I had read these reviews before I went with Sundek to install my patio finishing. Immediately after getting this installed, the surface began chipping. When you look at the patio you can tell they did not get the top coat on evenly. I have emailed and emailed multiple times. I was told over a month ago that someone would be out to make the necessary repairs. As of today, NO ONE has shown up. I called again and told them how disappointed I was and they said they had been really busy. It appears to me that once they got my money, they were gone. I was on my own.

Do not go with this company unless you only want your new concrete coating to last for a couple of years. We had it installed and shortly afterwards, began to experience deterioration. The company came back to make repairs for the first couple of years and then stopped. Five years since the installation — we are in the process of having it all replaced and it will be costly. When we attempted to talk to the individuals involved in our original work, we were told the company had been sold. We were told to contact the previous owner in Texas. In other words their motto: «You stand on it; we stand behind it» is a farce. Bottom line, you get what you pay for — this is an inferior product and they will NOT stand behind it unless you want to continue to pay for repair and replacement costs. Our advice: don’t make the same mistake we did.

I am a pool builder and use Sundek of Austin consistently for all my pool deck coatings. They do what they say and have always been on time and on budget. The finish is very functional and my clients love it! I will admit to having tried other companies to try and save a bit, but we came back to Sundek of Austin and now standardized on the Sundek system. We have had two other competitive coatings companies never return a call and did awful finish work. With Sundek of Austin we know they will be around if we need them and the Sundek finish is of the highest integrity. We saw the poor review here and felt we should stand up for Sundek as we have worked with them since they began over 15 years ago and they really are a great bunch of people and do great work, so im not sure what might have happened.

We were very excited to begin our deck project with SunDek. The salesman was very nice and helpful at first. Once the project began, they were immediately behind schedule. When all was said and done, they were about two months behind schedule.
We had an incredibly difficult time getting a hold of our rep once they already had our money. When we did get a hold of him, it would take days or weeks for them to come out to do very basic touch-​ups or repairs.
Not only did our project come in WAY over budget, the customer service was horrible. I would not recommend this outfit to anyone that wants to maintain their sanity while working with a service provider.
The reason I gave it one star and not zero stars is because the final outcome was attractive and functional. However, the experience of working with these folks was so miserable that I would strongly recommend that you consider another company for your decking and outdoor construction needs.
