Please be careful about using the containers at Snap Kitchen. On Monday, May 23rd, 2016, I put in a BIson breakfast bowl for the normal time and went upstairs. All of the sudden, I smelled smoke. I ran downstairs and my microwave was on fire with flames. I only had the container and nothing else in the microwave. I have attached a picture for reference. I called Snap. I had never had this happen before. I have used them for a couple of years. Snap Kitchen still hasn’t gotten back to me or apologized. I have destroyed microwave. My kitchen could have caught on fire. I was completely freaked out at the time. I had to use my fire extinguisher for the first time. Thankfully it worked. I am not sure if this happened because of the recent change in their containers or if this was just a one time fluke. It had to have some type of metal or foil in the container. I am now scared to use any containers. In addition, I am upset that I didn’t get a response to either call or my email. I would hope I would get some type of acknowledgement, apology, something… I am a very sad and disappointed customer.

I like pre-made meals with healthy ingredients. Highly recommend the turkey chili, kale salads, deviled eggs with hummus, and sweet chili glazed salmon(my favorite). I love their trail mixes and desserts too. I use to go to My Fit Foods before Snap Kitchen. My Fit Foods was always hit or miss. Snap Kitchen is SO much better. At both locations off Bee Caves and in the Triangle you actually see people in the kitchen cooking. It doesn’t feel like a dark cave like My Fit Foods. There is natural sunlight pouring through. Great customer service with familiar faces that doesn’t change every 6 months. I hope they do as well as My Fit Foods. I think they are rocking it and doing a much better job at making a customer feel welcome and offering a better selection of tasty food options.

Never had heard of Snap Kitchen before I went searching for a place on Unilocal to eat a quick lunch(on an unfamiliar road.) Ordered the chicken chopped salad with citrus sesame vinaigrette and it was super fresh, tasty and filling. The individual veggies were uniformly chopped so nothing over road anything else. The dressing wasn’t heavily sesame– which was good– so it was light and refreshing. I’d order this again. Well done!

Really like this place! So nice to have a quick place with quality ingredients. Tried most lunch/dinner things by now and pretty much haven’t had a bad meal. Just wish they would PLLLLEAAASE bring back the quesadillas with side of tasty bean/rice mix! That one was my absolute favorite along with the super delicious key lime pie dessert. Please never change anything about the key lime pie — LOVE that it has a little bit of tart taste and is not nastily sweet like so many key lime pie desserts.

I think this will be the place I’ll be going to, to get breakfast-dinners! This was my first time going here and wanted to try it out. The staff here are very friendly. I was greeted very professionally and was given a mini tour! There is so many things to choose from, and so many things I wanted to get. The price may be a little bit expensive, but the food tastes really good! I tried the veggie fettuccine and was so delicious! The portion sizes are just perfect!

I’m eating the ginger chicken, which is technically a dinner, right now. Screw the rules. I love the food and the concept. Everything is fresh, and leaves you feeling like you’ve done the right thing for your body. I’ve been to several locations, and at most of them you can see the kitchen and it’s impeccably clean. This means a lot to me. The staff is friendly, and super good at helping you find what you’re looking for. Lots of choices so it’s hard to get bored. It should also be noted that I’m just as likely to eat pizza or a burger for dinner, so this isn’t coming from someone who has dietarily backed themselves into a corner and thereby HAS to eat at places like Snap. It’s good because it’s good. Not because you’re trying to convince yourself that it’s good.

I was shocked to realize I had never written a review for Snap Kitchen. I absolutely love everything about them: their food, their philosophy, their friendly employees(who are SO nice they *might* even drive you home when you jump out and run in so fast that you lock your keys in the car!) I am very particular about the foods I put into my body. I am gluten free and follow a mostly paleo way of eating. That usually means I am cooking most of my own foods and there are days where it feels like grocery shopping, cooking and clean-up are their own full time job. Snap Kitchen is like a welcome break from all of the fuss. No thinking required. They have definitely created a niche for themselves and it’s exciting to see this brand growing across Texas! Current favorites: chicken and green chile enchiladas, over easy bison burger, burgundy beef, mayan beef, caveman quickies nut mix and ALL of their juices!

I have to admit that I had some reservations about Snap Kitchen given my general leanings towards to unhealthy, greasy, meat-laden meals. This location happens to be pretty conveniently located to my house, but before this weekend I always seemed to find a reason to drive past it. For some reason, I just imagined some bland and unfulfilling refrigerated meal akin to frozen Lean Cuisine dinners. But since my wife won — or should I say purchased — a gift card from a silent auction at our daycare, I figured I might as well give it a shot. The store itself is brightly lit and each refrigerated section(dinner, lunch, breakfast, drinks) contain a good amount of options and well described selections. I very quickly realized how wrong I was about this place after looking over the refined meal choices. I ended up taking home the Moroccan chicken bowl and the large meal portion of ginger glazed chicken. The latter came with roasted kabocha squash purée, and gingered green beans. Even though all the food sounded healthy from the descriptions and their ingredient lists, they were chock full of complex flavor. They were also things that I’d likely order if at a restaurant. I’m now actually looking forward to using the rest of that gift card to see if the food is all consistently good here or if I just got lucky in my picks.

I’m in the middle of moving and was feeling lazy, so I decided to head to Snap to pick up a couple days worth of meals. I entered the store, began browsing their meals, and then had this exchange with one of the employees: Me: «So does the green leaf icon mean that item is vegetarian?» Employee: «It means it’s plant powered.» Me: «Okay, so does plant powered mean vegetarian? I’m looking for vegetarian meals.» Employee: «Oh, we’re not into labels here.» Me(internally): fjslfjdslfncklvnkerjwekflsnlksdjfksfARGHHHHHHH Me(out loud): Okay, so items with plant powered labels do or do not contain meat? That’s all I want to know. Employee: «They do not contain meat.» So with that somewhat frustrating conversation done, I made my selections. I got a couple Malaysian Vegetable Curries, the Creole«Eggs & Grits,» and some spinach mushroom enchiladas. The Malaysian Vegetable Curry was delicious and spicy. The Creole«Eggs & Grits,» a dish made with scrambled tofu and egg«grits» was also delicious. I wasn’t a huge fan of the enchiladas — they tasted sort of off to me. Each of the items I purchased ranged from $ 5.25 — $ 7.25. The employees were readily available for questions while I was making my selections, but not overbearing, which I greatly appreciated. The only real concern I have with the food is that the calories are super low. I know this is a health food place, but bear with me for a minute. If I ate a breakfast entrée, a lunch entrée, and a dinner entrée from here, it would come in around 800 – 900 calories, and cost around $ 20. Eek. Not a great dollar-to-calorie ratio. I ate a protein bar with my breakfast entrée and added rice to my lunch entrée, and I still barely felt full. To get to ~1500 calories/day, I’d likely have to spend at least $ 30-$ 35 per day, which is definitely not in my budget. Anyway, I’d probably return here if I was in the neighborhood and needed to grab a quick, light bite, but I don’t see myself becoming a regular here.

Stuff I like: –It feels like you can eat constantly, all day long, and never be full, and if you’re tracking your calories, you’re still in a caloric zone that can facilitate weight loss(or at least not gain). –I love the time I save not driving to lunch or cooking dinner, etc. Eating out is essentially my favorite thing ever, but for the day-to-day stuff, it’s nice to be able to zap Snap meals in 90 seconds or so. It’s hard to work full time, have a toddler, try to have hobbies and friends and such, and also cook all the time. –Generally, I can wash and reuse the containers, which is pretty awesome. Sometimes the stickers stick to the containers, but usually they peel off very easily and cleanly. –The ingredients are impressive. I’m picky. I’m foodie-ish. And I’m impressed with the quality and freshness of Snap’s offerings. Moreover, they aren’t shy with the flavors. They use nice curries and spices and seasonings and such, unlike flavorless«health» food at a lot of places. –If you eat Snap exclusively for a day or two(and track it), you’ll notice that your proteins and fibers are generally fairly high, while your sugars are extremely low. Essentially the entire menu is gluten-free. I’m not gluten-free, but I will say that I feel better when I’m not eating much of it. I’m not doing a paleo diet, but you could easily do that at Snap. You could also easily go meatless at Snap, although that’s not in the cards for me. –I’ve lost weight, trimmed up, gained muscle mass, increased my running capacity to double-digit miles per day, and otherwise gotten healthier eating Snap on a regular basis. Without Snap, I’m not sure I’d have time to work, run/exercise, and eat right. And with me and exercise, it’s a whole chicken/egg thing. If I’m not eating right, I’m probably not exercising. And if I’m not exercising, I’m likely not eating right. So Snap helps me with this virtuous cycle. –The store is spacious, well-lit, laid out efficiently, and the whole experience is extremely pleasant. Stuff that is meh: –It’s easy to rack up a fairly big tab, especially if you’re buying for multiple days for multiple people. That being said, it’s easy to spend even more if you’re eating out and doing the higher level fast food thing constantly. –Having a seasonal menu is great, but sometimes I miss items that are temporarily retired and don’t like the new items as much. –The freshness is unequivocally great, but that also means the shelf-life is only a few days max, which means you can’t exactly shop for the entire week in one trip. Competitors: –Better than MyFitFoods. At MyFitFoods, the quality of the food seems slightly inferior to Snap Kitchen. MyFit employees are more in your business and more pushy at times, whereas the Snap folks are just helpful. Bonus: When Austin instituted its stupid bag ban, the Westlake location of Snap initially followed it, but they’ve recently implemented nice new paper bags. I was glad that the Snap folks seemed to listen to their customers on this issue. Generally, I’m a fan. Now, how do it invest in this company?

Pros: Inventive foods, seasonal menus, perfectly-portioned out health grub. Options for all sorts: paleo, vegan, kid friendly, gluten free, low carb, low sodium, etc. Cons: some meals have a rather high amount of salt, cost adds up pretty quick

Love this place! This location is right across the street from my work and I usually visit the store at least once a week. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help explain meals and suggest different options. I love this place for lunches and snacks — I usually stop in on Monday’s and pick up my lunches for the week. It is a little pricey, but if you get a snap rewards card, you get $ 50 back after you spend a certain amount. Fav things are the fresh pressed juices, turkey chili, egg salad and the soups. Highly recommend this place to anyone in a hurry that wants fresh, healthy food.

So I’ve started their 21 day commit and have been going to multiple locations in order to find the one that best suits my needs. The location in Westlake is awesome! I showed up today to pick up my first 3 days of meals and there had been a snafu with the other store about my order. It was quickly remedied and the staff were so helpful. So far I’ve had breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and let me tell you they are all delicious! I am not a fan of Kale, makes me want to gag, so they made substitutions for any item that included kale in the recipe. $ 87 for 3 days of meals and snacks is WAY less than I usually spend eating out 3x a day. Will update after I have a chance to try more items on the menu.

Last night my husband and decided to make a stop at Snap Kitchen for dinner. We had heard great things about it and wanted to check it out. We walked in at about 8pm and we were greeted by Kerry, the store manager. Kerry was awesome! More people in the food service industry can learn from him. Kerry was über friendly and easy to talk to. He was very knowledgeable about all the foods that Snap Kitchen had to offer. He made great recommendations based on our food preferences if I could sum it up I would say his service was impeccable. And the food was healthy and flavorful. The store is small but very bright and clean. They have a small dining area and of course microwaves and utensils for your dining convenience. So we ate our dinner there, then we ordered some food for breakfast and lunch the next day. Definitely worth it if you want healthy, delicious food and don’t want to cook! Come check it out and ask for Kerry!

Snap to it, if you’re thinking of kickstarting a new healthy eating plan. The staff is great — Kerry really listened to my picky concerns and got it all right the first time. The food is pretty spot on — I’ve liked almost everything and the juice options are a little different that what I’ve tried in other places but I like them all — especially the Tumeric Elixir which makes me want to drink it in the Casbah with Rick and Elsa — oh wait, that’s a movie review. The price works for me as I don’t have to make a single stop at the grocery store for 3 weeks — I end up buying things there I don’t use, end up throwing away, end up guilty about those things, yada yada… Snap is working for me and I’m delighted to have it as part of my Austin arsenal of feeling good and making some good changes just for me.

Quick and healthy lunch options are so important on a busy work day. This location is clean. Quality of food is good and can be a nice break from their competitor when you need it. Staff seemed uninterested in my arrival. It was my first time ever at a Snap Kitchen but luckily a co worker of mine advised me on how it works and what was good to eat. I even asked for the rebate card since it wasn’t offered to me at the end of my check out. Shame shame. If you know the product or can research a bit before going, the food quality is worth it.

Ugh. I need to lose weight. Like 15 pounds worth, maybe a bit more actually. So while driving home I passed Snap Kitchen and decided to go in and check it out. I like it way better than My Fit Foods because there aren’t helicopter staff buzzing around me and the food seems geared a little bit more for a food lover’s palate. I love to cook so much I even made a blog, but I really need to just stick to a strict calorie intake without sacrificing flavor. SK has been a winner so far! I must note that I hate the taste of microwaved chicken or beef unless it’s ground, so I usually reheat my meals in a non stick skillet. Another added bonus is that 98% of their meals are gluten free. Here’s the downlow on the meals I’ve had so far: Beef Stroganoff with rice pasta– wow! For diet food, 5 stars! Chicken Tagine– lacking somehow. 2 stars Naked Chicken– winner winner chicken dinner! 5 stars Naked Beef– my roasted cauliflower was burnt to a crisp. I barely get to eat as it is so burning over half my meal is so not nice. Beef tenderloin was good, but wish they’d sell it rare so it doesn’t over cook when reheating. Turkey Meatloaf with mashed sweet potatoes– I needed to add some organic ketchup for flavor but it was good and microwaved well. 3 stars. Grass fed beef hash– hearty breakfast and I couldn’t finish the small size. 4 stars Cheesy egg cups– delish!!! Did not taste like diet food. 5 stars Egg whites with goat cheese and spinach– savory goodness! I don’t like sweet breakfast stuff so this is a savory food lovers find. 5 stars! Quiche florentine– very good! I added a grate of fresh parm because I just had to. 4 stars Chocolate«mousse» YUM! Heavy with orange zest flavor, reminds me of those chocolate orange balls wrapped in orange peel looking foil I’d always get at Christmas when I was a kid. Very good! 5 stars. The juices are steeply priced at $ 8 a pop, so I either make my own or go to Juiceland. Let’s hope this deprivation from cooking pays off and I look fit for my Maui trip dammit.

And yet another Snap Kitchen opens in Austin this time in the West part of town off of Bee Caves near The Grove. I checked out this newest Snap Kitchen at lunchtime today. The staff was very cheery and seemed excited for their recent opening. This location is similar in layout and food options as the new location of Snap Kitchen off of 183. If you want the full menu offerings you will however need to go to the flagship store at the Triangle. They had most of my favorites and I especially noticed the fresh salads and juices were stocked. What I did see missing was the mineral water they carry at all the other locations was AWOL(and I was really craving one). For those who have not been to a Snap Kitchen before they sell pre made, portioned foods and suite many dietary needs such as gluten free, dairy free, paleo diet and raw. The nutritional information on each container. They accept the free Snap Rewards card so if you don’t have one yet get you one!
