My husband and I decided we needed a security system based on recent activity in our neighborhood. I did some research, and Smith Monitoring had a ton of good reviews, plus the pricing plans made a lot more sense than what we saw on competitors’ sites. We settled on the SMART Home + Energy package, which allows us to control not only the alarm but the thermostat from our phones, anywhere in the world. The thermostat seems simple but is highly programmable from the phone or web. The alarm is easy to use with a great modern interface and has several features that make us feel safe. We called Smith at the end of the day Friday, and Brock set us up for a next-morning install on a Saturday. Pete came out to install and complete paperwork and we couldn’t have been happier with his technical expertise and pleasant, matter-of-fact manner. In less than a day, we went from feeling vulnerable and exposed to feeling taken care of, at a price we are comfortable with.

Alarm System by definition is an early warning security device! But, if you go with Smith’s Monitoring, they’re eager to sign you up and provide Unreliable, unprofessional, and unacceptable service. I signed up beginning of April, 2 weeks later I ran into a problem and it is going to take 3 weeks and counting for a technician to come to fix the problem. I have a call log of 30 total phone calls made before I actually was transferred to a manager to get a technician out. When the technician called me to schedule an appointment, he said he called and TALKED to me and then left me messages, which didn’t happened and then he RUDELY insisted that he was right and that basically I am lying. Read the contract, you can’t cancel after 3 days! Please do your research before making a decision! I am writing reviews on google, telling my friends and their friends about my experience on Facebook, and I am calling the Better Business Bureau.

Unfortunately this is going to be similar to the other reviews. If I could give zero stars I would. We are 30 days with the company and one of our contacts/sensors doesn’t work and it says our door is open when it clearly closed. We have been trying to contact someone for almost 2 weeks and no one will call us back. We even told them we wanted to install a second pin pad and were willing to pay the 50 dollar charge to have it installed when the technician comes to check our door. Again no one called. They outsource the monitoring to CSG and we have called them and said we want to cancel and we finally got a call back today. Well we missed the phone call and I have called back 5 times in a span of 8 hours and the representative that left me the voicemail has been busy every time I called. Really you have been busy for 8 hours? Finally got escalated to a manager to call me back and well they aren’t available either to call us back. Seriously stay away from this company they are quick to sign you up and give you a great deal but won’t call you back if you need service. What’s the point of having a alarm if it only arms part of the home? You are better off paying a higher rate with a more reputable company or any company at this point. We will be reporting them to the BBB and try to cancel our contract since we are only 30 – 40 days into the contract and we have had a service issue that hasn’t been resolved less than 30 days into the contract. The one good thing a receptionist will answer and take your message unfortunately that doesn’t warrant more stars I guess it gives them the one they are getting.

Just like the other person said, it’s sad I can’t give them zero stars. I am unemployed and I’ve been left with no option but to sell my home, which will happen next month. I called to ask about what the cancellation procedure would be AND… THEREISNOCANCELLATION procedure. So, if you get this service and life hits you, you are out of luck. Their options are: transfer the service to someone else or keep paying the monthly fee with no service. That’s rich! Oh, and to top it off, when I asked the representative what the procedure would be for the system if I had no home, he said that the procedure would be to find«somewhere to live.» No joke. Direct quote. That was his answer. Really? WOW! Why didn’t I think of that! So all I have to do is find a new home with no job! These guys are geniuses! In other words: stay away. I’d rather pay a higher fee somewhere else if I have the option of paying a cancellation fee when I can’t keep the service anymore.

1 star only because 0 is not available. Don’t use this company. They use cheap equipment and it doesn’t work. It always thinks our doors are open so the system won’t turn on. It of course always works when I call them so they won’t send a technician. Their glass break gets set off by our dogs. Good equipment doesn’t do that and a good company would offer a good solution to fix it rather than saying they would have to charge us because it’s our dogs fault. They knew we had dogs when the system was installed. I have 7 months left in my contract and may just pay the fee to cancel it now. ALSO, if you don’t send them a letter, email or fax, at the end of 3 years, they sign you up for another year automatically and you can’t get out of it. Tricking your customers in to paying for your shitty system is a great business model. ******************************** I finally got through to a manager, he told me they would send someone out free of charge and also let me know I should change the batteries in the door sensors and that could help. I raised it from 1 – 2 stars because of that.
