Place needs an update, but if you want to hang out like the old days and don’t mind it being a little rusty and NO kids this is the ace to chill at.

I like SW a lot, but please, please stop the vaping! Austin went smoke free, so how are these e-cigarettes that create huge clouds of smoke happening again. The smell is nauseating.

I have played here for a while. NEVER had issues until the other night. I went to hang out with people I know playing on the Wednesday night league. This little sever girl I think her name is sam, or who honestly cares who she was had the attitude of a BITCH. when your job is to have customer service and SERVE, you do your job. I opened a tab at the bar cause I didn’t know who was working the floor and never saw a server for the first 30 – 45 minutes I was there. The bar had a very good worker, but that little one walking around I could have had her replaced in a hearbeat. DONOT ask if someone needs something and ignore just because I asked for a water. Oh wait, it’s not a «PRIORITY» to serve water to someone who doesn’t drink beer or alcohol. Discriminating me for wanting a water cause I’m not a drunk throwing out money left and right is uncalled for. The female Korean manager is another issue I have with the place, she comes out after I asked the other manager(who was off) to come outside since I WAS cool with the guy, and let him know my issues since the little girl that have as a manager had a piss poor attitude like her worker. After simply telling her I waited for a water TWICE she told me it wasn’t a priority for them. I had ordered 2 sodas prior, and a beer for my girlfriend, I usually tip pretty damn well, but I wouldn’t have tipped her a bag of shit since that’s all she was full of. I play APA or DID atleast, I paid for a full year which I honestly don’t give 2 shits about. The staff(not all) and the one female manager that looks like the kid off 21 and over need a good adjustment with a foot in the ass. Like they say, the customer is always right, well to them if your not shit faced wasted, you won’t get service. Screw that manager, and that place, hope people find a new pool hall to play at soon. Karma will be there REALSOON.

This pool hall is fair in my opinion. The pool tables need some maintenance, carpet looks really bad, and the place could be a little more clean in general. I will say that it stays busy with pool leagues throughout the week. The drinks are pricey compared to other pool halls that are in way better shape. On the plus side, the service is great and the staff is pretty friendly!

Dont put money in the jukebox. They will get skipped. Some speakers dont work and the waitress was somewhat rude.

This is a great place to hang out no matter your pool level of expertise. There are leagues that play and there are family’s that come to play to have a good time. The tables are normally full Mondays because it’s free pool if you buy a drink or food but the wait is not bad at all! The one fault I would say is the food isn’t too good. We got the burger sliders and the bread was over heated and way too crunchy and the beef was only warm. We also got the onion rings but those were okay. The drinks are better though so I will just order that from now on. I do love this place as a hang out spot so I’ll be back for sure.

Found this place while at a conference at the Renaissance as it was close to the hotel. Pleasantly surprised! When we walked in, we were greeted by the waitresses and the bartender immediately. The food was a decent pub food and our bartender Rob was great and very friendly. Monday was free pool and the waitress was friendly and attentive. The place was large, good space between the tables and clean. Great place!

Don’t order pizza there. Its a garbage. Manager doesn’t want to be bothered about it. They shouldn’t provide that shit to customers. It ruined my good time, and I am sick to my stomach.

Super Convenient location for me. There are not many pool halls in the north central Austin area. They are never packed and the service is always fair. they have great drink prices. I am not a big fan of their food. I wish they had a bigger menu other then just bar food. Over all, If you are looking for a good place in north central Austin to chill, this place is a good option.

Went here with 3 people and the tables are nice and there are a TON of them, but it’s expensive as F*CK. The pizza we ordered was meh. I guess if you’re serious about your pool you should go here, but for a casual player you’d be better off across the street at Buddy’s Place pumping quarters into the table and ordering your beer at the bar.

Liz is a wonderful waitress! She is just attentive enough to make us feel taken care of without being hounded on. There are plenty of pool tables to go around so it never felt crowded. The tables are in decent condition. This place would get 5 stars in my book if there were more 9 foot tables(there are only 2) and if there were real food on the menu as opposed to just bar food. But even the bar food was good. The pizza was delicious as we’re the chicken strips. Looking forward to starting league play here! Oh, and did I mention non-smoking? Yay! I moved here from Atlanta 3 months ago where there were only 2 decent places to play that did not allow smoking.

This place is a great place that the APA plays at for their pool tournaments and such but the unfortunate thing is that the windows are not tinted well enough to block out lighting. This means that when you are playing pool during the day here, your eyes are blinded by the sun and you can barely focus on hitting any of the balls on the table. Most other pool halls I have visited have had good tinting so that when you are inside, you can play on the tables with the assistance of the indoor lighting but this place has fallen short of this. I guess while I am mentioning flaws, I must say that the tables are not in the greatest condition and I have lost many games in league due to this flaw. Defensive shots are nearly impossible to make on certain tables and sometimes you can even hit a ball straight across the table and it will roll sideways! As far as the social aspect goes, if you are a «new comer» to this place then you need to come a few more times to feel welcomed because the staff is not too welcoming to people they are not familiar with. I went through the same experience when I first started visiting this pool hall so sorry to say it but deal with it and befriend the staff! Why I give it 3 stars instead of 2? The food is all fried of course, just like any other«bar food» or «pool hall food» but the prices are actually pretty cheap for what it is instead of costing you an arm and a leg for a basket of chicken tenders and fries. So if you are going to buy food here then you will pay about 30% less than other bars and pubs in my opinion. If you would pay $ 12 for wings and fries then here you would pay about $ 8. Mondays have free pool so stop on by and see for yourself!

I came in here recently with several friends and drank a few beers, played some of the arcade-style games, and of course played a few games of pool. I was surprised at the enormity of the establishment; there must have been 30 – 40 pool tables and even though most of them were occupied the place didn’t seem crowded. Wait service was quite good and food prices were very reasonable. I had some chicken tenders and fries for $ 7 that were filling and adequate. Parking on a Friday night was very difficult. Other nights it is wide open. I’m not much of a pool player but I suspect if I had some pool-playing friends visiting, I’d take them here.

Dirty little pool hall, cheap drinks, old tables… interesting crowd, lots of smokers outside. If you’re in the mood for that, it’s a fun time. Don’t expect anything fancy or new.

Free pool on Mondays if you buy some food… that’s not a bad deal at all. The food is dirt cheap as well. They were out of some stuff when we went so I couldn’t try the sliders. I ended up with a Frito Pie for $ 3. It was just OK. There wasn’t enough Chili and the Chili was not hearty at all… but hey, what do you expect for $ 3. The place is huge, and there is a metric assload of pool tables. The tables are full sized and the table we were playing on seemed perfectly level to me. The bartender was a little on the brusque side, but it was slow in there so maybe he was just bored as hell. All-in-all I don’t think I would go here on a Friday night to hang out and shoot pool. I would undoubtedly return for some free pool and some cheap food for a lunch on a Monday though!

We hadn’t played pool in ages so last night we decided to hit up the only pool hall we could manage to recollect in our aging minds. We’ve never been to this location, but we used to hit up Slick Willie’s all the time back in the day in Houston. It was fairly early on a Saturday, about 9pm, so there were plenty of tables available. We were greeted upon arrival, which was nice. The waitress walked by enough to get us what we needed and not enough to bother us. Plenty of room between the tables so I didn’t get jabbed in the ribs from a neighboring player. The music is decent(a local radio station). Unfortunately, we were there less than 2 hours and had one beer and one mixed drink and the total was $ 29. This is definitely pricey in our minds for two people who are out on a date and didn’t even get food. The point was to have fun, and we did, but we’ll probably seek out somewhere closer to home with cheaper pool, or maybe come on a Thursday when it’s only $ 5.

I come here a lot since this is the closest pool hall to where I live. That said, I wouldn’t go anywhere else for some pool time. Normally I come with a group of friends to have a good time, chat, and play some pool. So far I haven’t been disappointed once(yes, not once). My friend and I are regulars here and even the manager knows us. Their waitress are super nice and I find one of them super sexy, which is another factor that brings me back. To break it all down, this is my rating. Service: 4.5 Drinks: 4 Atmosphere: 4.5(only 29foot tables…) Food: 5, so far everything has came out hot. I burned my tounge once on their chilli fries… I’ll give slicks a 5 as long as my experience don’t change.

Last night I was lured in by the prospect of free pool. As I stood waiting for my turn, I thought, «you know, maybe I was too hard on this place with the 2-star review. It’s not THAT bad.» Then it hit me — the reason, the all-encompassing aura of hate that swept through the air — it was BOBFM playing early 90s techno… followed by loud ads. A fistful of cuss words can’t begin to describe the anguish. Sometimes the jukebox plays instead… it is equally bad. I understand that Metallica turns away foot traffic, but Pussycat Dolls is not my idea of pool hall jamz. Service: A Music: F Price: B Family values: C– It’s mostly 8-foot tables as far as I can tell. Still prefer the Grand. Free pool on Mondays is a big plus though. $ 5 wristbands all-u-can shoot Thursday(*not* Wednesday anymore) is also worth going to — make sure to ask for that special or you’ll pay regular rates.

The barfolk bring yer balls when you get there. Ok, well, mine did. She even racked the first set. That, my friends, is pool hall service. Maybe my standards are low(I dunno wtf you get at your friendly neighborhood pool hall, if you have one, but that’s what I got). There’s tables. A ton of ‘em. For some reason none of them have the little dot that you typically put the cue ball on if you choose to break from dead center, but that didn’t hurt my game none. Anyway. The music was not too loud, but still rocking from the jukebox. We went early when it was not quite so busy, but I would like to think the service would have been just as good. So I’m giving this Willie’s location the 4-star. Can I get some new chalk with that gin n tonic, babe? Thanks.
