I’ve been going to this salon since I was 6 years old, I’ve never been disappointed with the service here.

I had my hair cut by the same lady miles from my house scared to venture out for someone new. Then I found Hallie. And she’s a godsend. I was late, and she didn’t care. She still managed to cut my hair, better than anyone else ever has and still gave me a head massage and hot towel treatment. People like this make a business what it is and we need more people like her around. She’s very laid back and always smiling that beautiful smile. Very easy to talk to as well. I won’t go anywhere else… unless she moves to another salon. I love my cut and it looks better and better each day. Hallie you rock and your amazing at what you do!!!

Get you hair cut with Mondo!!!
I moved back to Austin after being gone for 20 years and have to say this is still the most reliable and comfortable Salon in Austin! I had my hair cut by Mondo and love it! He has been doing hair for over 20 years and did an awesome job! Thanks Mondo for getting me in before the holidays and it was great to see everyone again.

I have been going to this salon for over 20 years. Am I hooked? I would pull all my hair out if I had to go elsewhere. It is really all about building relationships and Beth is one of the most awesome human beings I have ever known. It is one of the blessing in my life that I have had the opportunity to be her client. And, my hair is great. She is a hair genius. Get in line. A client has to die before she can take on anyone new. I hope it wont be me!

In fairness, I will say I have a friend who is very happy with this salon and has ‘Great Hair,” as we say. However, my experience there wasn’t as good. I had my hair cut by the owner (or one of them — not sure how the salon is configured), and she cut it in a style we did not discuss. Also, she blew it dry while brushing it a certain direction, which was the opposite of the way she wanted the hair to fall afterward.
I asked her to please not brush it the wrong way — my hair is curly, and will get locked into the direction you’re brushing (which is different from straight hair). She insisted it would simply create lift for brushing it in the other direction. I tried again to tell her to stop, but she was one of those hairdressers who thinks she knows your hair better than you do.
The cut and blow-​dry was awful; I looked like I’d had a bowl put over my head, with the hair chopped off around it.
So, although this person might be great for some clients, she wasn’t a good fit for me. Oh, by the way, I am used to paying top dollar for hair salons, so price wasn’t the issue here. I would never trust her again with my hair.
My personal rating would be no stars, or one star at the most, however, out of respect for my friend who has had a good experience there, I rated it higher.

Brianne is awesome! Got my hair cut at the salon a few weeks ago and then went to dinner with friends, one of whom is also a hair stylist. They all said how great my hair looked. And this was AFTER putting it up in a motorcycle helmet to get to dinner. I always come to Brianne with scraggly looking hair and walk out looking Ah-​mazing!

I’ve been going to Melody for about 6 years now, since before she worked at Shear Madness, and she is super talented. I actually moved to D.C. and still make a point to visit her and get my hair cut and styled whenever I’m in town. She’s a true gem.
The salon itself is beautiful and comfortable, the staff is always welcoming and friendly. There is a small parking lot around back that you can use. Rest assured that they will take good care of you.

Wanna love your hair? I have a suggestion, go to Shear Madness Salon on West 6^th Street and ask for Darren Lewis. He has cut my hair for several years and I have never walked out of the salon unhappy. If you want an incredibly talented stylist who does exactly what you ask, makes you laugh, and feel gorgeous everytime you sit in his chair, then go to Shear Madness and ask for Darren. Your hair will look fantastic!

Darren Lewis is amazing! He not only does great cuts & color that really last, he’s got that rare talent of being able to create a style that fits a person’s face, hair and lifestyle. I’ve been going to him for many years & would follow him to any salon! (Plus, he’s just such a sweet guy.)

I love this place. Mando is my hairstylist and he is amazing and PATIENT! I have always left there feeling great and looking better!

Pricey, yes, but I finally found a place in Austin where they know what they’re doing. Now don’t get me wrong, I am completely enamoured with Austin and it’s creativity, but when it comes to haircuts most places are over the top. The hairstylists are creative for creatives sake and do not listen to what you want. When I first walked in I was a little concerned that it was going to be too conservative, but it’s not. The best haircut I had in a long time.
