My husband and I’s favorite place to get Chicken Teriyaki. We had no idea there was one in Austin. We use to eat at the one from Oklahoma City. I am kind of disappointed in the 3 years of living in Austin, we missed out on a lot of Sarku! We will definitely be coming here often, Lord willing. :)

My favorite mall food restaurant! Sometimes it gets a bit salty in the end with all that teriyaki sauce sinking to the bottom. I dont recommend getting double meat, it’s way too much meat. I always just order the chicken on fried rice with no veggies. If you order beef or shrimp, I don’t think it’s worth it, also it makes your wait time longer because those are items people generally don’t order and they have to make a fresh batch just for you. This is just my opinion because generally I am in a hurry while shopping, trying to beat the closing time. Overall the service is great and they definitely dominate the food court in Barton Creek Mall. Cheap too!

Been here twice and love it. I get the shrimp and chicken teriyaki with fried rice and vegetables. They give you more then enough to last two meals. I go there any time in at the mall and will continue to do so.

Good food, was surprised for a mall! Only thought was I wish it would have included an eggroll! Very polite service as well!

Sarku is always tasty and cheap. Be warned, the line can move either really fast or really slow! Today was a slow day but you get to watch those crazy chefs flip chicken bits into crispy goodness.

The first time I ever tried this place was probably about 6 years ago. I’ve been hooked since! I WILLNOT come to the mall without eating here! If I know I’m going to be shopping, I literally won’t eat all day so that I can make a glutton of myself here and devour the chicken teriyaki with noodles and extra meat! It’s a super cheap please to get full to the max and give you extra shopping energy! I never pay over 8 bucks! The noodles have got to be my absolute favorite. Steer clear of the 2 places next to these as they will probably only disappoint with freshness. They may have more variety, but what I like about Sarku is that they obviously have specialties and focus on that! YES! THOSENOOOODLEEEEESSSSSS! A sign they have up says over 20 million teriyaki meals served annually. Well holy crap! Duh! It must be freakin awesome! 10 stars!!!

Amazeballs Chinese. Worth the 8 mile drive. The 1 mile walk from bfe parking to get in line. The $ 8 price tag. The wait for the teriyaki chicken to be cooked. Worth every penny, every time. It’s top three for my comfort foods behind Turkey with fixings, and waffle house. The guys always stare at my fiancée. The service is ALWAYS fast. You can have it there or take it home. No Derivery. Get it hot, fresh cooked. To rorder. Kinda heavy though.

We used to live in Seattle and would enjoy teriyaki often. Since moving to Austin, Sarku is the closest thing to real teriyaki we can get. It is consistently good and it is made in front of you so you know it is fresh and hot. We love this place!

Ok, 5 stars for a mall restaurant? I know what you’re thinking… my elite status must be a fluke right? Wrong! I’m pretty sure the chicken here is laced with crack. The teriyaki chicken here is great bang for your buck. $ 5 for a huge thing of rice, veggies, and chicken, you can’t find anything more delicious at Barton Creek. You can also get double the meat portion for just $ 1.29 more. Anyways, about the 5 stars, its not the best food in the world, but based on taste, price, and convenience, its worth it.

The first time I came here there was a long line so I decided it must be good and this is where we ate. My hubby and I love the teriyaki chicken meal. I really thought we were lame because it’s mall food and sometimes we drive from Round Rock to this mall because we want teriyaki chicken(it helps that the Nordstrom is at this mall, too) and when I was preggo I made me hubby drive me to Barton Creek mall for some teriyaki chicken. Anyway after reading the reviews I see we’re not a couple of weirdos who only eat Americanized Japanese food… well maybe we are but then so is everyone else coz I see people in the line and on Unilocal like this place. It’s made to order and always yummy. Good service and pretty cheap, too.

Don’t be fooled by the mall food court — this is literally the best chicken teriyaki I’ve ever had. I make one off trips here to satisfy cravings. Get double portions for $ 1.29 more.

Hands down the best mall food I’ve ever had anywhere ever.(Ok not including Chick-fil-a) but Sarku really delivers on taste and value. They literally cook your food to order right in front of you while you watch. You get a huge pile of asian rice, grilled veggies and a heaping pile of chicken on top. All for less than 6 bucks. Add double meat for $ 1.50 and you could feed an entire family. It’s no wonder of all the places to eat at the food court in Barton Creek there’s always a constant line at Sarku. With 4 asian eateries, including Panda Express, right next to it Sarku is always by far the busiest.

I think that Sarku is the best value and healthiest lunch in the Barton Creek Mall. The food is prepared fresh, right in front of you, with chopped veggies and chicken. It is always cooked right and the rice is perfectly steamed. They don’t have a lot of choices, but you don’t need any choices here — just get the chicken and veggie stir fry. It is cheap, good and filling. The food is not sitting around in steam trays in goopy sauce with hidden calories. Just flash fried veggies and chicken with some teriyaki sauce. Yum.

Why I never tried this place before beats me. My decision today was between Panda Express, Ruby Thai Kitchen, and Sarku. So I consulted with Unilocal not expecting reviews for any of these places since they are in a food court in a mall, and saw the Unilocal-famous Errol M.‘s recommendation for it. I had to try it. The chicken teriyaki IS good. They give you plenty of it, too. The fried rice is not bad, and the vegetables consist of mostly cabbage, and cabbage tasting broccoli(I think I got two pieces total). But the chicken teriyaki is worth it. Seriously, try this place! I am irritated though, that the combo special today was $ 4.89. Did I pay this? No, I ended up paying over $ 7 because they charge you 30 cents for frying the rice, yes really, and they also charge $ 1.39 for a SMALL drink. Slightly annoyed, because I don’t like to be «nickled and dimed,» and I also don’t like to be hooked by a cheap combo deal, and then find out it’s really not a deal at all. But, ultimately, it was still worth $ 7.

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Their chicken teriyaki special is my absolute favorite as well as others I’ve observed. It’s about $ 7 and some change for a single meat, veggies grilled in buttery sauce and fried rice or steamed rice with a drink. So yummy! It’s what I always get from the food court other than villas pizza when I go to the mall.

I always order the double meat chicken at sarku. The chow mein is fantastic. For the price, Sarku is pretty unbeatable at Barton Creek Mall. That’s why it’s also the most crowded during lunch hours. Be sure to ask for extra sauce(if you can stomach it). Would’ve gotten 5 stars, but the very confusing system to pick up food was a turn off. The employees seem to get confused also. One time they wouldn’t believe that I ordered double meat, and rudely asked to see my receipt. I have no problem showing my receipt, but was a little upset with the attitude they gave me.

This is definitely my guilty pleasure and I come here at least once a week for lunch to indulge in cheap chicken teriyaki and vegetables. It’s only $ 5.08(with tax and no drink) for the lunch portion so don’t expect a gourmet meal. What you pay is what you get. I’m giving this less stars than I originally would have before today because I just found 2 hairs in my entrée. It might have been mine because it was black, but I highly doubt it and I’m beyond disgusted. I will still be going back though until it happens two more times. 3 strikes and I’m out!

As far as food court mall food goes, you can’t top this. This was my staple food years ago when I was a poor college grad, and still brings back fond memories whenever I eat it. I went there so often many of the people there still know me, and I’m glad to see that the lines are as long as ever. Oily, tender, dark meat chicken with lots of soft steamed rice and sweet teriyaki sauce. How much better can it get for fast, cheap food?

I was so impressed with my first visit to Sarku Japan that I wrote a poem about it: Roses are red, Violets are blue, I had lunch here today, And it was pretty damned good. Poetry is different for everyone, and so is Sarku, because they prepared my entrée when I ordered it, unlike every other Asian food-court mall establishment I’ve managed to avoid over the years. It would be easy to get a yen for their $ 6.47 teriyaki chicken special with a small soda – a good deal available all the time. Michelle C. is right: «Sarku is like the fast food version of Benihana.» And while you’re standing there waiting with other people, it feels like being at a Benihana without the chairs – six of us watched two entertaining and incredibly hard-working chefs, one of them chanting«Sauce, yummy yummy sauce,» while I was tempted to ask the other to try flipping little morsels to my mouth. It was definitely worth the wait. The more I think about Sarku, it becomes another ode to the power of Unilocal: I must have zipped past this place a thousand times without giving it a second thought, and I tried it today simply because of two reviews written by two cool Unilocalers – fun for me, and good for Sarku Japan.
