Two words of pure excellence: Ray Boyd. Ray has done wondrous things to my drab and coarse Asian hair. He has cut new life into my hair. I can get volume and style without having to resort to my crazy Asian hair cut/​looking like a rat chewed on my hair past.
And he is a great conversationalist. By great conversationalist I mean he’s a Harry Potter fan. Yep, that’s all it takes. But seriously, the man can take my hot mess of hair and turn it into hot in about 40 minutes. That’s a freaking miracle! Total follower am I!

Sarah Horne at Salon on 5th is just about the best hairdresser ever. She is fast & her work is always fabulous. The salon is small, comfortable & quiet & they offer sodas, wine, etc. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great cut & color at a very fair price.

David does a GREAT cut! And I have difficult hair that is somewhat naturally curly, quite thick, and often unruly in the heat. I’ve been loyal to him for over five years — so much so that despite having moved to Houston, I still travel back to Austin for haircuts. His shop is clean, friendly, and cute, and everyone there is fun to be around. I’d recommend him to everyone!

I’m new to Austin and a friend recommended Salon on 5th for all of my hair needs. The salon is very trendy and cute. They play pretty contemporary music and if you’re the only one there (as I was since I picked a random Monday afternoon), they will play whatever you want. Molly was great, we discussed my hair color as it relates to my skin and eye color. She also cut my hair and did a phenomenal job. Of course the best part is the shampoo and Molly did not skimp or rush through it. Everyone loves to have their head rubbed and when I told her this was the best part, she said, «it better be, or I’m not doing my job right.» Overall it was a great hair experience, I highly recommend it!
