Their newest stylist, Morgan, is the best colorist I’ve ever had. I’ve been to some of the nicest places in Austin and she tops them all. Highly recommend her. The salon itself is cute, clean, and quiet. Great location.

I got my hair done for my wedding at Salon Cherie. The trial run went fine and my stylist was really chill and nice. Her name is Morgan and is very relaxing to work with. On the morning of the wedding, she ended up running late because of car trouble but got there and worked quickly and calmed me down. However, before she arrived the owner asked me if I knew if my mother in law was coming to her appointment because she was late at that point. I said I wasn’t sure and that she had said she might not show but I didn’t know for sure and I hadn’t set up the appointment. She started to stomp off and when I said that that appointment was not something I had any part in she responded with, «well that’s really rude!» and stormed off. I promptly burst into tears because that was the last straw on a pretty stressful morning. I couldn’t believe she said that knowing it wasn’t my fault and it was my wedding day. It was very inconsiderate and I was very hurt by her comment. I can’t recommend the salon because of that treatment though my stylist was fantastic!

Don’t waste your time or money at this unprofessional and unsanitary salon. Their aesthetician came fresh in from smoking a cigarette to wax my eyebrows and upper lip without washing her hands… disgusting. I would understand if a walk-in client caught you off guard, but I had an appointment. Now I’m looking in the mirror a couple of hours later and see all sorts of stray hairs and could have done a better job myself. Salon Cherie fooled me once but never again.

I’m so surprised the reviews are sooo bad for this place… I come here for waxing bc of convenience of location and flexibility of appointment times… However, today I got my hair dyed for the first time ever(bye bye virgin hair!!) and my stylist did a great job. She was patient and answered all my questions(I ask a lot of questions, just as a general life rule…) Maybe new management practices or whatever it is has put this place on an upswing since I’ve been coming this year — but it gets all the stars in my book! :-)

5 Stars! I have lived in Chicago, NYC&DC — and Salon Cherie is the best I have found. Cherie’s real clients will tell you that her salon is the best in the city, and that her results are unmatched. Her staff is trained in her method, and I have sent numerous referrals there who have had a 5-Star experience. «Best in Austin!» Please don’t give weight to some of the poor reviews written by Groupon’ers — I am sorry they had a bad experience but I can say in 6 years coming here I haven’t had one negative experience.

Kristi at Salon Chérie is friggin awesome! Do yourself a favor and have her do your hair… I am EXTREMELY picky about who cuts my hair… Not that I have some kind of fancy schmancy hair doo or anything, but I’m definitely not a «clipper-cut» kinda guy. I have always been the kind of person who finds someone good, and sticks with ‘em — Matter of fact, when I lived in Houston, I had the same hairdresser for 14years! After moving to Austin a year ago, I had major stress about finding the right person to cut my hair, and tried a several places in town, but was never really happy… until Kristi… I knew the minute she was done that I’d found my gal. Now she does my entire family, including my hair-hopping 12yr old daughter, who’s OBSESSED with her hair and changing it’s color and style every other week.(and, Salon Chérie is 5 min from my house — BONUS!

Like most people here, I first went with my Groupon a few months back. I have been looking to get my hair cut for a while. But I have A LOT of super thick curly hair, and after my fair share of bad haircuts, I have learned my lesson. Thus, I used my Groupon for the conditioning treatment to meet the stylist, and let her meet my hair. Kendra was Great! Not only did she cut of 19 inches for Locks of Love(yes… 19!!!) but I also have this super cute long bob now, which I adore. And considering the amount of time my hair takes to cut and style(1.5 hours) the $ 60 plus tip wasn’t all that bad at all! I have to say, I do love the atmosphere, and while some of the crew may lack professionalism, they are always very nice, and very fun! Long story short: I’d recommend Kendra and Salon Cherie to a friend

BEWARE.BEWARE.BEWARE I went to the salon today for a bridal hair trial. My appointment was at 9:00am. I arrived on time but had to wait for the hair stylist. She arrived and was not ready. She spent at least 15 minutes bending bobby pins. I just sat there and thought, «This does not seem right because she is charging me by the hour.» She starting fixing my hair and I told her that I wanted to try something else. She did reluctantly. I told her I liked one part of it and wanted to see if she could try another way. This was my hair trial after all. She said rudely that our personalities did not mix and she said that she could not do my hair. I said that I liked it and I just wanted her to try one more thing with one portion of my hair. She told me that she had spent enough time with me and asked me to leave. She had only been working on my hair for a little less than an hour. I was shocked and hurt. I had booked an appointment for her to do my hair the day of my bridal shoot. I also booked an appointment for her to do my hair and all six of my bridesmaids hair on my wedding day. She was not interested in pleasing me. She canceled all of our appointments and would not refund the $ 100 deposit. BEWARE of this salon! They have NO customer service skills and are extremely rude. My fiancé who is very level headed went to the salon to talk to them about a receipt and refund. They told him to leave and called the cops on him when he asked to see the cost breakdowns. Acting extremely pretentious, they told him I said I was a Bridezilla. I thought that was rather funny because the stylist’s two children were at the salon and her oldest child asked me if I was going to be on Bridezilla. I said«no» but that I might be one closer to the wedding and laughed. The people at this salon are NUTS. I am just in shock right now of how they treated me, I left in tears. I can’t believe that people can get away with being unprofessional and rude.

I made an appointment here for a facial and haircut because of my groupon. I had no problem getting an appointment, and when I got there I thought the place was pretty cute. My facial was with Lauren, and although she was really nice, it was probably my least favorite facial experience. I never really felt relaxed, I had no idea what she was putting on my face, she didn’t ask what kind of skin I had, and the massage was bleak. I also agree with the review below me, it totally sounded like she was washing dishes while my mask was setting. My haircut was a better experience, I like the way she did my hair, but probably not enough to come back. All in all, I expected way more from this place.

I went in to the salon today for a women’s haircut and a facial with the Groupon offer. Booking the appointment was easy, but later when I called back to alter the details of my facial and when I received my confirmation call, the speaker was rude and short with me. So I went in not really knowing what to expect. I had a facial with Lauren. It was so relaxing! I loved how thorough she was with the extractions. The only thing I would have changed is that I wish she had told me what she was putting on my face. I had to ask her for the name of every cleanser, mask and spray. It also sounded like she was washing her dishes while my masks set, which disrupted the relaxing mood of my treatment. My facial was followed by a haircut with Erica. She was a doll, but didn’t really know how to cut super-straight, fine hair(we’re talking stick straight here). Every cut mark shows in my hair, which means her texturizing and volumizing efforts are unfortunately no good. It looks a ton better than my split ends, but not as good as my regular stylist. If I can’t get in at any of my regular places, I might consider rebooking here. But I can’t say I’ll be jumping to book my next appointment.

Ugh. So disappointing. I got the Groupon to Salon Cherie because I was in the market for a new hairdresser. When I went for my appointment, I was a bit surprised to find the salon in seedy looking shopping center, but the salon itself is actually very charming inside so I felt a bit better. Then I got to listen to the staff bad mouth previous customers while I waited for my appointment. Danger sign. I was willing to forgive this lack of professionalism, though, after I got my cut with Cherie. It was actually a very cute cut though not terribly innovative, especially for a $ 75 price tag without the Groupon. I was not blown away but decided I’d come back for a second appointment because they offered another 20% discount. This is where the real problems start. I scheduled my appointment for a Saturday because I work crazy hours during the week. A few weeks later, I got a call saying that Cherie was no longer available that day, and could I reschedule. I understand people take vacations, so I rebooked. A week later, I got a call saying that Cherie had to reschedule again. Now this just felt rude but I really wanted to get my hair cut. I rescheduled again, and then got a call two hours before my appointment to say that Cherie had an emergency and couldn’t see me. Maybe there was a real emergency, but at this point it’s like the boy who cried wolf. I will most certainly not be rebooking, and I will be finding a salon that understands customer service and professionalism, which Salon Cherie clearly does not.
