spent 23.99 and then some on the family fiesta fajitas and I got more rice and beans then I did any of the meat… we literally had enough meat for four tacos and that’s it. the sad thing is I won’t waste my money on this place ever again. oh and not to forget we had two onion slices and one slice of pepper in there. disappointing to say the least.

Microwaved slop that not even an astronaut could choke down. Way over priced and it’s like taco cabana but ten times worse, plus the décor was awful.

I was super happy to find this place in Austin. When I was at Baylor for undergrad. Rosa’s was our Tuesday weekly dinner. Just 1.99 our tummies all full. The price is higher now but still a lot of food. And the best tortilla yet, it even better with honey. Unfortunately this location is nothing compares to the one in Waco. Cashier is not that nice. And I felt rushed.

Just horrible. I prefer taco bell I don’t think it’s going to last. What a waste of space.

Was surprised when I walked in to see you have to go through a line and order, then pick up your own food. The restaurant is large and nice, so was expecting to be waited on. I ordered the cheese enchilada plate and was disappointed. The cheese was not melted at all. They were a bit hard to cut up and eat. Beans and rice were ok. Rosa’s Café isn’t good enough for me to come back. If anyone else had a good experience here with their food, I’d like to hear about it.

Go on Tuesdays, cheap taco meal for $ 4.39! Super filling. I got 2 crispy tacos and one soft taco. They put more in the soft taco, so if you’re hungry get the soft taco! As for the taste, tastes like a generic taco. Nothing special. I’d only go on Taco Tuesday, not for a regular outing meal.

My family and I went there for dinner and it’s basically pricier Taco Cabana only Taco Cabana’s food is better. The shredded lettuce had a funky odor to it. The cheese enchiladas was served cold and it was hard. To say the least we are not going back.

Not quite as good as Taco Bell. Didn’t expect such low quality food based on the appearance of the restaurant from the outside. Fast and friendly service though.

Good for fast food! The service is always great & the staff is always working so hard to make sure everyone’s visit is awesome. Taco Tuesday’s are such a great deal! I’m happy we live so close!

Upscale Taco Bell. Food is out of a can. Yuck. Service is self service in many ways where there should be help. we won’t be back.

This place is ok for drive thru food. Taco Tuesday gets you 3tacos, beans, rice and tortillas for less than $ 5. It’s good and easy when you get off work to just get it and go. The sides including chips and salsa are pricey. It’s hard to stand out for Mexican cuisine in South Austin.

We stopped by for some quick tacos to go. Went we opened to wrapped tacos we couldn’t believe that lack of fajita meat and guacamole in the tacos. we will not return back to this place. NOSTARS!

Imagine eating at an upgraded version of taco cabana… don’t get me wrong though, the food is Delicious and tortillas are Spot On! Actually their tortillas are a Lot Bigger than normal sized ones. Love the enchiladas, fajita quesadillas, and burrito dinners! Originally I came in thinking it was gonna be an actual restaurant… sit down and order style. For as big as the place is, the staff does a great job keeping it clean & tidy. There aren’t any waitstaff but bussers keep all of the tables clean. This place is Spotless! 3 Stars… it was Okay, but I definitely would come back. More than likely for a To-Go order.

So many people were like you gotta try this place out. So today I did. I pretty much prepared myself to be disappointed and this place delivered. I had foot surgery recently so I am limited on my availability to get out of the house. I sent my husband to this place and he ordered a family order(feeding 2 – 3 people) fajita meal for like $ 25. I mean this order gives you 12 tortillas, salsa, sour cream, cheese, guacamole, beans, rice, and meat enough for two tacos. Now once we overly stuffed our tacos with beans and rice we managed to make two tacos each. This was not worth $ 25. Maybe any other meal from the place is worth the price but not this meal. Now I have all this extra tortillas and beans and rice to last us for the weekend. #Lame

Ugh. That’s the moral of this story. Rosa’s food is the quality of Taco Cabana at best and they claim to be a real restaurant. I had to try them since I drive by pretty regularly. The queso was ballpark nacho cheese and my cheese enchilada was the same served at Cabana. Not worth the money at all. If you want microwaved slop and to not pay much for it, head to Cabana! Atleast you know what you are getting there and the price isn’t as bad!

Today I decided to give this place a second try. I was craving fajitas and based off another Unilocalers recommendation I’m here. I went through the drive-thru this time. Wow, it was one of the nicest I’ve seen. They had a trash can where you can throw your trash away(which is always a plus). The employee taking my order was sweet and did not make me feel rushed. By the time I got around to get my order it was ready. There was no wait time. Probably one of the fastest services I’ve had. I came home to find three huge homemade tortillas. They were pretty amazing tasting. The fajita meat was good, could have been more tender. The rice was amazing and the beans were average. I was able to fill up two of the three tortillas. They did not give enough meat for three tacos, but they were a good size. In my head $ 6/taco seemed a little steep still. Plenty of rice and beans left over and tons of veggies(which I has placed on the side). Overall my impression was much better this time. I would try this place again.

The product doesn’t justify the price. Maybe this place would be worthwhile if you were more than five miles from a Taco Cabana or a Casa Garcia’s. Hell, there’s even a Dario’s down the street. The tortillas here, do taste like they came out of a factory, but a rubber factory, not a tortilla factory. The sopapillas, which are usually a total weakness of mine, were pretty weak: not enough cinnamon sugar and served with that honey-flavored corn syrup instead of real honey. Despite doctoring them up when I got home, with real honey and more cinnamon/sugar, they still tasted generic and un-compelling. The beef fajita taco had me saying, ‘Where’s the beef?’ while the chicken fajita taco had me saying, ‘Is this cooked all the way?.’ And the beef enchiladas were reminiscent of the kind they’d serve in a school cafeteria. The refried beans smelled like dirty rags but sadly, these were probably the best thing out of my whole order. The rice was soggy. I went on a Monday – maybe this is my fault – and why most Mexican restaurants are closed on a Monday. But even then, if it’s a Monday and all the good places are closed, just save your cravings for a Tuesday and another venue.

I was waiting on my order to come up and was sitting by a family that was taking up multiple tables, when one mom says to another, «Hey this place is like a step up from Taco Cabana!» Then the other mom says, «yeah and their food is pretty good!» Nailed it! I totally agree with those moms. Rosa’s is just a little more on most things than Taco Cabana. The atmosphere and dining is a little more upscale and nicer. The food is a little better and seems to have a bigger variety. The service is actually way way better in my experience as well. I grew up with a Rosa’s in my neighborhood in Fort Worth so I am familiar with it and I am glad to see that they have expanded to Austin! Rosa’s is definitely A-OK and I will be back.

Just as everyone says… this is basically a Taco Cabana with aspirations. I got excited when I saw the construction so close to my house. When I saw the other reviews, I was disappointed. When I got inside tonight, I was… just… whelmed. The is a look-up-not-look-down-to-order restaurant. You look up at a menu above your head, like you would at a fast food or fast casual restaurant. Your choices tend to boil down to variations on burritos, enchiladas or tacos. They’re not anything to write home about, especially in a town like Austin where you can find outstanding versions on every corner. The salsa bar is impressive, but oddly, the tortillas from the self-proclaimed«tortilla factory» are not. They’re oddly chewy. The word that comes to mind is medicore. Even the sopapillas seemed a little boring, and I am never bored by sopapillas. The parking is limited, and the décor is Mexican Garden Ridge-meets-swap meet, with high-intensity interrogation lighting. Seriously; I’ve had dental exams that weren’t as bright. As snarky as I am right now, I don’t hate this place; I just wouldn’t ever go out of my way to go back. And my way is only like ½ mile.

I used to live with a former Midlander. Rosa’s is big in Midland. And every time he went home, his last visit on his way back to Austin was to Rosa’s. He would stock up on Rosa’s burritos, probably bringing back 10 or more every time. I kid you not! And always with a bagful of their hot sauce. He never shared! But, I figured with that kind of devotion this place must be good. So, I watched and watched as the progress on Rosa’s Slaughter Lane location came closer and closer to a finish — eager to see what this Taco Cabana/Taco Bell fusion place was all about(I gave it that description after my visit). They have a drive through, convenient! They have a fresh fixin’s bar, a la Taco Cabana but with a very limited selection of salsas. They make fresh tortillas in house, way prettier and more uniform than Taco C’s but not as tasty if you ask me. Still, my enchiladas were decent and not covered in the usual thick Tex-Mex gravy most restaurants slop on. And the cheese seemed real, not velvetta-esque. My crunchy taco was also tasty, though I wish the shell was a bit less generic. All in all, I think it’s an okay place but it probably won’t win in a pinch over my beloved Taco C.
