This is one of the most underutilized parks in Austin. Even after it was devastated by the Halloween flood of 2013, it is still beautiful. It is maintained by the county rather than the city, which is perhaps why more people don’t know about it. I had been to the park a few times before started playing kickball here regularly. It’s a bit of a drive, out towards the airport, across from the south terminal. Nestled on the banks of Onion Creek, Richard Moya has ball fields, basketball and volleyball courts, a playscape, covered pavilions, grills, trails, and the historic, century old former Congress Avenue bridge. I have seen some of the best sunsets at Richard Moya, the creek babbles along, the meadows are perfect for frolicking in. This park gives me a sense of serenity, I really do love it.

Playscape, large green spaces, dogs allowed, old Congress bridge for photo ops. Bathrooms weren’t too bad(with small kids this is kinda important!)

Great park. I just go because the Austin Sports and Social Club hosts its Kickball seasons out here and I play. They don’t water so during the summer the fields are basically dead grass, but otherwise its a nice little park. They also have a more recreational side and have trails to walk/run.

In town on biz, this is a nice open park near the airport. Clean, family friendly, lots of grassy areas to chill out on. The paved trail along the river goes up to the road on the west side. Park trail is maybe a mile along the river.

This park is best known for its bridge and no it is not a bridge on the playscape. There is a bridge that is made out of 3 spans of what used to be part of Congress Ave bridge — See my pic. This park is just 20 minutes from downtown on the SE side on the border of Onion Creek. It is covered in hundreds of old pecan trees has a baseball field and basketball court and playscape and can be reserved. We reserved it for a potluck picnic lunch — there is a sign that designates the area RESERVED. There is a paved hiking trail that is easy for those new to hiking/walking and it is smooth for those pushing a stroller.
