Keep getting phone calls from this place and have never been a customer. Either they keep misdialing or someone is using our phone for their own use. They have been informed once already to stop calling.

Go if you have free time on your hands, on a budget and don’t care if your hair might not come out the way you’d like it to. I went it for just a cut. My apt was at 1:15 somehow I didn’t show up in the system but I got in shortly after. My cut took 2 hours. They will take their time to make sure it is correct and check with an instructor before moving on. However when I actually get home to really check my hair out it seemed choppy to me, I’m ok with that it’s medium length. I just needed a cut it’s been so hot out. Also, they have a deal for 5 $ off the month of August 2015. So my cut was Actually 5 $! However I’d probably would not return and would pay a few extra bucks for just a little better of a cut.

I have been going to Regency Beauty School on Ben White for my haircuts for the last 4 years. Everything has been fine up until the appointment I had on August 13^th, 2014. All of the managers that I normally deal with like Greg had left for other job offers. A new manager by the name of Henderson was at the front desk and was very combative and argumentative to me. I called to say I was running 5 minutes late and the receptionist told me to come by any way, Once I showed up at the reception desk Instructor Henderson refused service to me. There were only 2 customers at Regency at The Time I arrived and 8 hairstylists waiting for customers. I will never step foot in this location again unless I get a formal apology from this establishment. It was the worst customer service ever.

For a $ 9 haircut I was pleased. Sandrilla is right, it takes forever. But they have music pumping and my stylist was a sweetheart, so I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment. I had Domingue (sorry if I’m butchering that) and he did half my head, and his instructor did the other. Actually it was the other way around, she’d show him something, and he’s repeat. It was kinda cool actually — I learned something too.
I love my regular stylist, but this is a great in between place for someone on a budget with a basic cut (bob).

I go here for my all over color because it’s inexpensive and because it’s pretty hard to mess up but I can’t really say too many other positive things about Regency. I would never get a haircut or highlights as I’ve seen the mess they make of the peoples hair sitting around me.
The facility is new and fairly nice. Most of the students are friendly while I get my hair done but almost all of them are very unprofessional and it’s obvious they don’t teach the students about customer service which is really going to hurt them once they are out in the real world. They sit around talking and eating even when you are sitting and waiting for an appointment. They never do my hair the same way twice (i.e. sometimes they dye it wet and sometimes they dye it dry even though I always get the same dye).
The pedicures are sloppy, the facials leave your skin worse than it was when you came in. I wouldn’t go here for a cut or anything more difficult than an allover hair color if you care about your hair like I do. Also they nickel and dime you so don’t expect that anything they do won’t cost extra, even a blow dry which I get standard everywhere else.

This school has changed. I dislike the learning curriculum. They give their students ipads and make them watch dumb videos they don’t teach you anything. Please regency. Let your inductors do what you pay them to do and they love to do not done crappie ipad!!!

So something to remember before you make your appointment at Regency is that this is first and foremost a school! I’ve been here twice now and have been pleased both times (first time I layered my hair and the second I just had a trim). Although just a warning, the appointments take double the time because the instructors have to check and re-​check every snip the students make.
The facility is very clean, the students are sweet, and the price is beyond cheap. Although if you’re one of those people that obsess about every centimeter that is cut, than this place IS NOT FOR YOU. Spare yourself the tears and shell out the extra 10 bucks and go somewhere with more experienced stylists. Like I said before this is a school and mistakes are bound to happen. The teachers will fix it but it might cost you a few precious centimeters in length. (Luckily it hasn’t happened to me yet, but I’ve seen it happen – nothing major though).

Regency beauty students can provide a good pedicure for a pretty good price.
The experience itself is not much to write home about as they have removed their overstuffed massage chairs with the connected basins so you have to sit on a hard chair now and dip your feet in a small round tub to soak.
Even though there are not jets on your feet and you won’t get to work the kinks in your neck, the end product is worth waiting for, your toes will certainly enjoy the attention.

I’ve never written a Unilocal review but I thought my experience here deserved one. I wasn’t sure exactly what I should make the rating because I had both a terrible experience and a great one. I went in to get my hair colored a couple weeks ago. It was very dark brown and I wanted it lightened to a medium brown. I waited a half hour (after my scheduled appointment) to finally get in the chair. They suggested I bleach it then color over. To make a long story short… I walked out with orange hair.
I waited a week to see if the color would grow on me but it didnt so I went in to see what they could do about it. A woman from corporate was there and spoke to me about it. She was unapologetic and said what I should have done was get foils (which is what I originally suggested before being told to do the bleach). They set me up for a corrective appt for the next day. Go in the next day… wait a ½hr…the girl never showed. At this point I was pretty angry about how unprofessional the company is — and when I say that I mean the supervisors… not the students (for the most part).
The good part– I got an excellent student to fix my hair. Amber did exactly what I wanted and also gave me a hair cut. I highly suggest reserving an appointment with her.
I’m dissatisfied with the company but very happy with Amber’s skills — that would be the only reason I am not writing this place off.

I got highlights and lowlights from a Regency student and am very happy with my hair. The color looks as good as what I’ve gotten from high end salons, and the cost was far lower. Services do take longer at a beauty school since the instructor consults with the student during the process, but that’s to be expected. The location was clean and the staff was very courteous.

I’ve been to Regency twice now and both times have had a good experience. Appointments will take a very long time, as they do in all school settings, but I went in expecting that, so it was no big deal.
Both times I have gotten my hair cut and colored… and both times the students were extremely supervised… The instructors actually did about 75% of the cutting, I would say. Now, I have pretty easy hair and I’m not very picky, as I’ve had it pretty much every color there is… but I’ve really loved my color both times.
All in all, I really like this place, but hey… THERE’S A REASON IT IS SO CHEAP!
Geez people… These students are just that… STUDENTS, so don’t go in there expecting a quick job. They take their time to make sure its right.
I went in on my day off and got a cut, color, conditioning treatment, Sebastian Ignite Shampoo AND Conditioner AND Hair Whip, and a pedicure… for $ 105. Pretty awesome.

I love it here!!! It’s clean, cheap, students are friendly and one of my new friends goes to school there, he did my haircut last time and its super awesome! I normally check my hair before I leave because I’m picky about my haircut, but I forgot. As soon as I got home I checked my hair in the mirror to see if he missed a spot but nope, it was perfect!

I went today to Regency to get a facial. When I entered, the school had a very professional look to it. I arrived at 9:15am for a 9:30 appt. and signed in. I was asked it I would like some tea, water or coffee (that was nice of them). I waited till about 9:45 when a young lady came to get me for my session. I was taken to the spa room where there are three bed separated by curtains. I filled a questionnaire about the problem areas that I have and what kind of products I use. Then the young lady went to talk to her instructors about the treatment. She came back and started the facial which lasted about an hour. The atmosphere in the room was very relaxing and I enjoyed myself. I did notice my skin look immediately brighter and my eyes were not as puffy, and for $ 20.00 I can get one every 6 wks. I am so happy with this place and plan to go again. I spoke to the receptionist and she said that they are always busy on Fridays and Saturdays (so be prepared to wait).
I loved this place can’t wait for the next time I go again

I went in to today, knowing that it was a school. i will admit I was a tad bit nervous, but told myself…“Its hair, It will grow back” I walked into the doors and was greeted by a young lady named Brittany. The she sent out the student, who was going to be taking care of me today. The young lady that took care of me was ROXY! She was amazing!!! Honest to God, she made me fell very comfortable. She asked what i had in mind and we discussed some things. Then the instructor came over and made sure we were all on the same page. i had originally gone in for a trim, but ended up deciding on a new hair style and some panels (highlights on foil). Roxy did an amazing job. When was the last time you had a shampoo that made you melt in the chair? OMG! Roxy gave me the best shampoo ever! I had chills the whole time.
I read some not so great reviews about this place, but I am here to tell you to go try it out! It is very reasonably price, the students are supervised and it was all in all a great service. i highly recommend this!

Lets face it; This is a beauty school, NOT a high end salon. With that being said, It doesn’t necessarily mean that its not worth checking out. When making your appointment, keep in mind that these are students who will be servicing you. So take the experience with a grain of salt. Like any salon in Austin, you have your excellent stylist (which in this case would be your dilligent, well rounded students) and your crappy stylists. I would recommend, as with any hair service, do your homework if you’re iffy about going to a school. Ask around, find out who the better students are and give it a go. You may be pleasantly surprised. Once you find a student you really like, stick with them. The experience will only get better with time. Request Roxanne; she’s a badass with highlights and cuts… just saying… ;)

I’m just going to give it to you straight.
I went in on a Monday at 4PM to get a haircut (as a walk-​in). The hours on the door say they take guests till 8:45PM. I walked in and told them I just wanted a haircut. The girl at the desk says, «Well you’ll have to come back at 5:30.» She claimed they were «changing shifts» and couldn’t take clients until 5:30. Interesting because all the stylists were hanging out around the counter… there were no customers being serviced or waiting.
I really really needed a haircut or I would have stopped at this peculiarity.
I picked up my two kids who are 4 and 7 (well behaved for the most part). They’ve been with me to other salons (expensive ones too!).
I went back to Regency at 5:25PM was briefly greeted and told to wait for ‘roll call’. 15 minutes later a woman came and got me. My kids wanted to follow me back, mostly because they didn’t want to be left alone up front. The woman takes the clip out of my hair and talks to me for a minute. She leaves and comes back with her «educator». Who also looks at my hair and gets and explanation of what I want. Then she says… «Do you have someone to watch your children?» And I say, «No.» And she says, «Well they can’t wait here on the floor (meaning in the salon area) because its a safety hazard.» She continues to ask me if I have someone to watch them over and over to the point where I almost cried in front of them.
I’m a single mother. I have kids. They aren’t wild. If it was a problem then don’t waste my time with pretending to see me. Have this RULE stated in the front office before you make people wait. I wasted 2 hours of my time and NEVER got a haircut. Not to mention the audacity of this woman to berate me about my daughters who were in no way causing a problem. Especially since I was the ONLY PERSON in the salon. This place made my day awful and they never touched my hair. To all you single mothers out there… I took one for the team today because I would have gladly told these inconsiderate horrid women off had my children not been there.

This is a beauty school, not a professional high end salon, so don’t expect it to be that. My husband and I walked in without appointments around 1pm on a Monday (when most salons are closed anyway). Everyone was really nice and friendly. It’s a school so there were students walking all around chatting & practicing on wigs, so it didn’t have a «professional» atmosphere, which wasn’t a problem for me (I’m pretty laid back) but it could be for others. They made sure to know what I was going for — not just a trim but a new ‘do. I had two students work on my hair, a newer student & a more advanced student who went over techniques with the newer one. If you’re going in for a special cut, something requiring more skill be prepared to be there for a while. My total time there was about 2 hours (consult, wash, combing, cutting, layering, drying & styling), while my husband who just needed a trim was done within an hour (including consult, washing, cut & touch-​up from the instructor).
Our cuts were $ 9 per person and they turned out great! I don’t think I would’ve gotten the same results from a pricey salon either. This is definitely a go-​to place for a cheap cut.
Side note, if you want to tip you need to bring cash.
And to comment on a 1* reviewer, seriously who would take their wedding party to a beauty school to get their hair done.

I don’t even know where to start because this place was an absolute train wreck! My friends /​fellow bridesmaids went there Saturday to get our hair done for a wedding that evening.
My gut instinct was a little hesitant upon booking the appointment as it is a beauty school and NOT a salon but since all the girls were doing it I joined the party. The day before they called to tell me that they had doubled booked my person (i didnt even request a person) and my appointment was canceled, of course I was less than thrilled but called back and scheduled with someone else. I was already showing up there with two strikes but here I am. We showed up before our appointments at 1:00 in good spirits with two bottles of Champagne ready for some pre-​wedding fun. Within five minutes the manager had us poor out our champagne. I should have left than as this is seriously the ONLY place that does hair that has ever made me poor out a drink normally the salon is offering ME alcohol, I provided my own. I may have let that roll of my back but as we sat that for over an HOUR waiting to get called my anger was just building and building.
Finally at 2:00 the first one of us got to go back to get started. Slowly after that we all got to go. Let me just say, SCHOOL not SALON — these are students working on your hair and students is an understatement. I am not sure how much training they have to have before they can «do up do’s» but seriously it cannot be much. Luckily, there was one girl, Shelby who was my saving grace. She did my friend’s hair and it turned out great and she could see the pure struggle and anxiety in my face so she came and took over and did my hair after she finished my friend. So Shelby thank you.
The management was absolutely horrible. I do feel bad because the students were doing the best they could do to help us but they just didn’t have the skills yet. There were SO MANY PEOPLE STANDING AROUND when we had yet to be helped. The instructors and manager made no apology for us having to wait so long.
There was absolutely no sense of urgency when we were running way late! We actually missed the first round of pictures for the wedding because we couldn’t get out of there. Had it not been for Shelby I was two seconds away from leaving going home, showering and just putting my hair in a bun. My one friend ended up having to do her own hair because they couldn’t figure out how to do a pretty basic bun and time was not on our side by this point.
Do not go there — yes the prices may be cheap but it is not worth it at all! Terrible, terrible manager. Seriously the worst customer service ever.

This school offers full salon services from the students. Although, very cheap, BE VARY LEARY! I have to be nice because these girls are just learning, but I’m so sorry they are no good at it and that’s why they are at school!
My wife and I went there to get our hair done. Appointment: 9:30am on Sat. We didn’t leave until 4pm and my wife’s hair STILL WASN’T done! The reason why we left is because we were hungry! My haircut was fairly quick and what a disaster (I have to go get another haircut tomorrow to fix it!). MY WIFE’s HAIR A COMPLETE DISASTER! She wanted a cut and hair color. BIG BIG NO NO! My wife bought a kit on way home to «try» to fix what was done. She has since made another appointment at a «real» salon to fix the mess. I would have felt better about crapping on 70 bucks and flushing it than paying them for the job.
I highly blame this on LACK OF SUPERVISION!
Our «cheap» haircuts will end up being the most expensive
haircuts…ahhh the irony. But, those who read this, please realize I know they are students and I don’t mean to be mean. Just informing people to be careful when trying to save a buck.

If you’re like me, at the idea of a beauty school you might imagine a handful of Vegas dancers lining a stairway to the malt shop in the sky, encouraging you to go back to high school because you can’t color hair worth a flip…
But you’d be wrong. Sort of.
Regency Beauty Institute has only been open at this location for about a month, but they have already garnered a fair following among their student community, which I gathered sitting in on a class there. I chose to work with Regency after less than a day of corresponding with Lesley, their campus manager. I made it clear I needed a professional to apply my makeup for a rawk event that same night, possibly at a more affordable rate. She explained I would be able to come in as a ‘model’ for one of their instructors to demonstrate on for their class, free of charge to me. This sounded somewhat risky, but reasonable. She told me the instructor who would be working on me that day was Udy, and she had already seen the jpeg files I sent with a previous email illustrating the look I was going for: mainly big, dark, and sharp. When I arrived I met Udy, who had already prepared a folder of images she could recreate and asked me to look over them while she prepared her work space. After I stopped drooling over a few of the more surreal examples, her student Crystal took me back to the main classroom.
[Enter clueless Unilocaler]: the room is lined with mirrors along the perimeter, reflecting plastic heads with teasing-​combs lodged in their manes. Udy explains, «The girls are learning to perm this week.» Ohhh. She sits me down in a swivel chair, opens a few compacts of vibrant color, and calls her students to pay close attention.
Ever get the feeling someone is staring at you but you can’t tell from where? Try diverting your attention when 15 pairs are boring into your skull from a full 180 degrees around you. It’s weird. I hear things like, «That looks cute», «I can’t wait to start my own makeup», and «You look like a fairy!» I took this last one as a compliment considering my agenda.

. Exactly what I was hoping for. I thank Udy, Lesley, and the class for their time. Lesley encourages me to tell friends about their services, as they are in constant need of models to hone in on their beautification skillz. Ergo, Friend, I encourage you now. YOU may not have what it takes to highlight & style, but these chicks ain’t no beauty-​school-​dropout.
