Ed, the owner of The Refinishing Shoppe, is a one man show. This dude is a genius when it comes to refinishing, repairing and commenting on the value of antique furniture. I met Ed when he won a bid to refinish several items during my time working on the Capitol Restoration. Every item he worked on turned out beautiful. Initially, I had two thoughts about Ed because he could not stop talking about how much he loved furniture and all his refinishing experiences. 1. «This dude really loves his craft» and… 2. «Whoa…the fumes from the stains have affected his brain» The truth is, Ed is incredibly talented and is doing what he loves. I’m not sure why the«shop» in his business name is spelled«shoppe». He is not a formal kind of guy at all and he is located on south 1st street. Not really an expensive snooty neighborhood.(I mean this in a most loving way, my south Austin friends.) And I’m always surprised at how little he charges for such great work. Perhaps your grandmother’s antique hope chest is in desperate need of some tender loving care. If so, Ed’s your man!
