Their redfish and oysters are to die for. I love their wine list too. We just don’t as often as we would like because like all other seafood places it is $$$$. I wish they had better prices on their oysters.

I eat here all the time so you’re damn right, I am biased. Great food. Great cocktails. Sit at the bar and chat it up with one of the bartenders. Plan on bringing your family? Lots of great outdoor seating for your chitlins to run around. The Pepita Crusted Mahi-Mahi is my favorite. I also order the muscles with chorizo but I cut the mussels and just eat the chorizo. Good stuff. You’re welcome.

First time and we loved it. The pasta and seafood dish was unbelievable. We started w the short rib tacos and wedge. All were recommended by our server Garrett who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend the same line up. The kitchen split everything for us upon a recommendation from Garrett.

Just… WOW!!! This has been and continues to be a favorite for us. We returned last Saturday evening and were seated immediately. I wish I could remember our servers name because waitstaff can always raise the level of enjoyment and that lady treated us very well. The food was what we have come to expect from Redfin, excellent. We were using an AMEX gift card that another restaurant could not process but our server handled it. Another excellent experience at Redfin.

My girlfriend and I decided at the last minute to go to Redfin — and are we glad we made the choice — excellent service from the moment we walking into the door, the owner greeted and sat us, then Jeff took over with 5 star service… Then the food arrived and we were more impressed… Every meal had a mmmm and ahha moment. So good we are going for the Valentine days special menu. Don’t miss this place Here 3 months later for their regular menu — a home run again

My boyfriend and I came back to try the dinner menu and brought a friend from out of state. We decided to start with a couple of apps and drinks before dinner. The fact they have drink specials on Friday’s is awesome!!! They has Mexican Martinis and Margaritas… Margs were AMAZING! We munched on crab hush puppies, which were the best I have ever had, and mine and my boufriends favorite, the calamari and fried okra. Dinner didn’t disappoint either… i had the Pasta Marisco which I highly recommend. My boyfriend had the Fruitti di Mare, and our friend had the house special, Blackened Redfish. It got completely silent around the table as we all enjoyed our FABULOUS dishes. Dessert was hard to pass up, we ordered the key lime pie and the Banana Zango… totally worth it! The food is wonderful, the wait staff are friendly, our server Matt was attentive and made really great recommendations, and the atmosphere is great! This place just keeps getting better and better! The only thing I would change is the parents letting their kids run all over the place and down into the patio area while people are trying to enjoy their meals.

Everything we tried here was excellent, and they have a modest but wisely chosen selection of beers on tap. I thought the pasta marisco was excellent. The patio and playground features lots of shade from the umbrellas and live oaks to keep things comfortable while watching the kids on the playground. It really is a nice place that is very family-friendly where you can easily relax for a couple hours over food and drinks without the kids getting bored.

Was really looking forward to eating here since before unopened. Too bad we had a Horrible experience with our food and service. They hardly ever appeared to see if we needed anything, we couldn’t even find her to wave her down. Food was just over fried(almost black), over spiced, and bland. Did I mention… WAY over priced! Ceviche was not impressive either. On a positive, the kids did have fun in the playground, it is gated so I appreciated that. We wanted to sit outside by the playground but couldn’t since there is no ramp for my family members wheelchair in order to get to the playground area where there are additional tables. Hard to believe there is no ADA access and it has not corrected. Not coming back for sure… Less then 1 star for sure.

My wife & I had our grandsons for the weekend(9 and 11 Years old) so we wanted a kid friendly place with good seafood. I found RedFin Seafood Kitchen here on Unilocal & the reviews were very good so we decided to try then. All I can say is why have I not been here before now. It was one of the very best seafood places we’ve eaten at outside of New Orleans. They have a outside play area for the kids plus a good selection for the kids meals. We will be back with or with out the kids. AAA+++ food & the service was even better then the food.

Cannot beat this restaurant… there is nothing better, especially in the burbs. Try the salmon dish entrée with mini short rib tacos as an appy and a LuLus Lemon to drink. DELISH!

I went here with a friend, as we had a few hours to burn prior to our flight leaving Austin. Thanks to the inaccurate GPS on my phone that indicated that this place was only 4.5 miles from downtown — we started our journey towards RedFin. Seeing the positive reviews on Unilocal I was looking forward to it. Well…20+ miles into it, and entering into quite a beautiful and surprising landscape of Texas [like mountainous /rocky hill sides… is this Texas really?] including mansions on the hills and a winding stretch of road that I wouldn’t want to take after dark — it look more like coastal Malibu. After 23+ miles I thought the GPS lady was playing a practical joke, I pulled into a parking lot. OH!, checked my phone map, …and great only less than 2 miles away at this point… the journey continues. We get into the parking lot: GPS lady: «destination is on right, turn Right then, «Turn Right!»…I’m thinking ok, ok… No restaurant signs say«RedFin».yet, until we took the 3-hour Mr. Magoo tour of the parking lot. At last! «The Redfin Seafood Kitchen»! We ordered bacon wrapped shrimp that was very tasty. Large perfectly cooked shrimp wrapped in bacon, served in a square shot glass with I believe a grain mustard /lemon aioli — Yum! high points here. We ordered fried Calamari+Okra –minus the okra. It was very over fried and the calamari may or may not have been prepared in house [the coating on it that is]. They were extremely shriveled up and crunchy, so as to omit any of the tenderness that calamari should have. I will comment that the calamari batter has just waaaay too much salt in it — hope they fix that. They did take off 50% of the cost of this– so that was a nice gesture. I was constructive in my comments and didn’t expect that. I was super happy with the fried shrimp and fries — wow the fries were dusted with a chile powder… maybe paprika? thick, square cut and very fresh. They went well with the sauce that came with the calamari. The Fried Shrimp was excellent. Highly recommend this dish. Use the lemon wedge and get a good squeeze! Nice combo of flavor layers. I ordered a tequila oyster shot, and my biz partner ordered Patron Silver chilled. I think I would chose the ‘bloody mary’ version of the oyster shot in the future. There was an over dominating tartness and tequila presence that made the oyster flavor become fully masked. Still, I will emphasis that the oyster was large, plump and of high quality. The tortilla soup was good — not great as I think it had way too much corn in it. A good amount of chicken. but I would have liked to have had more of the cheeses that are described on the menu. [there was only a scant amount] A good way to finish off tortilla soup is fresh cut; green onion, cilantro, tortilla strips… maybe a dollop of sour cream — avocado chunks [it did have a good amount of avo, so a plus there]. Overall, I do recommend the soup with all that said. When the waiter brought the soup I thought it was the ‘bowl’ — I had ordered the ‘cup’ — so, at $ 5 for this, I thought this was a really great price. This restaurant serves high quality food and their shrimp definitely demonstrated this. The lemon aioli is house-prepared and the restaurant is cozy although it is a decent size. This place is the dream of the owner — who wanted a cool restaurant like this for some 20 years as the waiter described it. So being planted in this affluent, «Four Points» area of Texas I am sure they are going to do very very well. You will feel that Texas hospitality here — kind and attentive wait staff — and original details coming from the kitchen. The Redfin is definitely worth a visit — just make sure your GPS woman isn’t going to take you on a ride to get there! Last comment, and this is mostly to the owner: Please consider changing up your music, it kind of killed the atmosphere. It was like the singer of Guns and Roses singing heart break — wrenching sad love songs /slash/I want to kill myself because you left me music… written by Adele. I was thinking to myself, «dude, pack up the truck with the car and the dog, she was not worth it!». Seriously, if you want your guests to enjoy –their– conversation you don’t want to fill the beautiful atmosphere of your cool restaurant with music with verbiage. I have to fight to stop relaying my attention from a ‘Bryan Adams-esque singer’ being shot in the heart –[sounded so dam painful too]- to paying attention and understanding what my friend was saying at the table. Cheers!

I really wanted to like this place, because it’s close and it’s seafood. I’ve tried it twice. In both cases, we all agreed the food was at best mediocre and over priced. Last time we were there, we had these«pistol shrimp» that were so overcooked they were chewy. And they were something like $ 9 per shrimp. Just outrageous. Won’t be back. Like ever.

I came with a group of 13 from a work conference, having encouraged the out of towners to go to a local place instead of Pappadeux’s. I picked RedFin based on location and good reviews, and we were not disappointed! The staff accommodated us nicely at a big table outside. Several ordered oysters as an appetizer, and they raved over them. My end of the table ordered the salmon with white cheddar grits and roared Brussels sprouts, and the food was fresh and flavorful, with the chimichurri as my favorite part. Others ordered fried oysters, a fish sandwich, and a hamburger, and they were all happy, with lots of empty plates at the end. The spicy fries were super and addictive. Desserts were good, though maybe not spectacular. Our server, Matt, was fabulous and cheerful and worked hard to take care of us, even with separate checks. The play area under the trees for kids looked inviting and makes me think it would be an excellent place for a family gathering. It’s a pretty casual place, with really good food. All in all, very satisfied with this outing!

So, yeah, if you like those slimey little slugs of the sea, oysters, you will love this place. They get em in fresh everyday but Sunday, and Mondays they are half price. Even though we went on a Sunday, Hubby was super happy with his two varieties, pacific and gulf. They even asked if he preferred sweet or briny oysters, as if they come in any other flavor than disgusting. He’s not allowed to kiss me with an oyster mouth. Also the gulf oysters were so huge, HEHADTOCHEWTHEM. I just threw up in my mouth a little. To each his own I guess. I was very happy with my mahi mahi tacos. You could definitely taste the grill on that fish and the accompanying refried black beans was fantastic. Our waiter was just short of 20 pieces of flare enthusiastic and one lesson to learn, be careful what you say at a restaurant as you may be eating next to the owner. I, luckily, had nothing bad to say before we found out that’s who we’d been chatting with all along. I know Hubby wants to get back here for Snot, er, Oyster Monday. I just wanna get back out on that patio and try out some of their dinner dishes, maybe have another one of those eyebrow singeing cucumber martinis. I think after a few of those, I *might* even let Hubby kiss me.

My first experience at RedFin was right after they opened and everything from the food to service was inconsistent. But, there was a lot to like that brought us back a second time. There is a unique vibe of modern upscale hipster meets relaxed family fun here. The interior is open with inviting modern rustic wood tones. There are several flat screen TV’s located throughout for sporting events. Inside can have a tendency to get a bit loud with the open format. Outside they have a lovely tree shaded, park like, eating area that is dog friendly, and boasts a large kid’s playground area. Their menu offers a nice selection of fresh gulf seafood and wood fired meats. They even have an extensive oyster bar. Their tap beers are served at a constant 29 degrees via a high-tech tap system. They also have a decent wine list, which features one of my favorite boutique eastern WA wines, Seven Falls Wahluke Slope Merlot. They have a full bar, so also have a list of cocktails. The appetizers are hit or miss. We were not impressed with the fried pickles, and the gulf oysters were OK. The short rib tacos though are amazing; bite sized crunchy smoked meat goodness, and the black beans they are served with have a delightful spicy kick. All the entrees we have had were good. The salmon entrée was delightfully fresh and moist, and the vegetables served on the side were not just decoration, they were tasty. The steak and short rib were smoky from the wood fire, and melted in our mouth. As I am not a fan of mashed potatoes, they were kind to substitute them with fries. Their fries are seasoned well, slightly on the salty side, skins on, and more on the softer side, but yummy. Our second visit had more seasoned staff, the first visit our server didn’t even know how to open a wine bottle. The service the second time was consistent, no long waits, and extremely friendly. I am glad to see that they have worked out some of their kinks. The word is out about this place, as there was a wait for a table, and they don’t take reservations. So they are definitely doing something right. Their lunch menu is different and served from 11−3pm. I wish you their dinner selection also provided their burger and sandwich option as I noticed they have gluten free buns available. The prices are reasonable for the quality fresh food. We finally now have a great restaurant for a nice dinner before a movie at Moviehouse & Eatery. They have weekend specials, if you want to know about them in advance join their email club online.

Had a house salad with seared Ahi tuna. Salad was $ 8 with a passable raspberry vinegarette, tuna added $ 6. Got six ¾“x¾″ square pieces of tuna that couldn’t have been more than 4 cm thick. In other words, about the size of a quarter. Sear was alright — not overdone, which is good — and flavor wasn’t bad. However, an $ 18 bill for a salad with tuna droplets and a Sprite didn’t sit well. I’ll be glad to go back and try dinner, though.

Man when I heard of this place I got all excited because I love me some Seafood. I went here for supper on a Friday night and it was too packed so we went somewhere else. We came back the following Monday for lunch. I was hoping for some crab legs, lobster, sea bass etc. Not happening here. To me this was more like a cajun gulf place with all the blackened dishes and po boy and gumbo and crawfish étouffée. If you like oysters you are in luck. Unfortunately, oysters ain’t my thing. We were both disappointed with the lunch menu. It offers eight options: blackened redfish sandwich; wood-fire grilled burger; mini mahi mahi tacos; shrimp or oyster po boy; fried catfish or shrimp; chicken tortilla soup. Sigh. We got the fried shrimp and catfish. Both came with fries and jalapeño hushpuppies. The dishes were just average nothing great about them. My catfish was good. Quite tasty, but, I really wasn’t in the mood for catfish as I had my hopes up for something from the Sea. Both the shrimp and catfish were good, but, like I said nothing special about them. The hushpuppies were also very good, but, they were quite small. The fries were a nightmare. I’m not a fry person the way it is, and, these things sealed that deal. They had a nice seasoning on them but they were greasy and limp as all get out. Gross stuff. Maybe they should crisp them up or just get rid of them and offer a side salad instead. Service here was real friendly. Our waiter was Olson(?). He was new to the scene and did a great job. Acted like he’d been waiting tables for years. We talked to the manager who ended up giving us two cards for free deserts. That was cool. The beer taps are nicely chilled and I’d really like to see more options on that menu, but, if you like cajun, oysters & mussels you are probably gonna love this place.

Quality seafood, great service, excellent bar program and close to home. I am a fan! The layout of the restaurant is very open. The corner of the bar highlights the raw bar where oysters are being shucked to order. Leashed pups are welcome on the patio and the vast outdoor area features a playscape shaded by towering trees. We stopped by RedFin the first week it was open and had a wonderful experience. We caught the tail end of happy hour and enjoyed $ 1 off a couple of appetizers to include the peel-and-eat shrimp and the crispy short rib tacos. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the house-made spicy sauce was good with a light kick. The savory short rib tacos had excellent flavor and the touch of sauce on each taco complimented the dish nicely. We also ordered the Mexican ceviche and the pan-seared crab cake. The Mexican ceviche was delicious and not too citrusy nor to spicy. I liked the mix of nicely marinated fish and shrimp served with ample tortilla chips. The pan-seared crab cake was plated beautifully with wild arugula, an incredible pesto sauce and a lush tomato shallot salad. I could eat a whole bowl of the sweet delicious tomato salad. The craft cocktail menu is creative, I was impressed with the wine selection(especially on what they pour by the glass) and they have several local taps. Notably RedFin makes many of their mixes in-house like the ones used in the blood orange martini. One of the wines by the glass/bottle that had me tempted was the Stag’s Leap Hands of Time. I didn’t go for it this visit but I did enjoy a solid Pinot Noir from A to Z out of Oregon and Jesse was happy with the Fire Eagle IPA. While we opted for the lighter menu items they do serve some great looking entrees. I look forward to coming back to try wood-fired grilled salmon and the fruitti di mare under«from the sea» menu. The braised short rib and the grilled bone-In ribeye with soy-caramel emulsion under«from the land» menu also sounds amazing. Happy hour is Monday-Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Happy hour drink specials include $ 1 – 1.50 off beers, $ 4 house wines and margaritas and $ 2 off select specialty drink. Food specials include about 7 discounted menu items from both the appetizers menu and raw bar menu($ 1 – 2 off). RedFin Seafood Kitchen is a wonderful addition to north Austin. It is great for happy hour after work at the bar, enjoying the patio with the family(to include he 4 legged ones) or having a nice dinner in the dining room.
