Ready Learning Academy

The team at Ready Firearms are awesome. Very friendly and outstanding communication. I have used them as a FFL dealer and have had the clean my weapons. I have an M1 and when Don was cleaning it, he found a broken spring. Instead of giving it back to me and making it my problem, he offered to buy the spring and install it… I was ready to pay over $ 100 dollars because it is an older gun, but it only cost me $ 21 for the replacement part and installation. These guys are all about customer satisfaction.

Very knowledgeable and experienced staff. The classroom setting is comfortable and one of the best educational programs I have seen. The range feels good and is well maintained. The follow-​up classes based on new legislation to keep us informed of new laws and changes to existing ones. I highly recommend them if you want to get your concealed carry permit requirements.

I rarely write reviews for products or services but I think this class is worth 5 minutes of my time to let others know how I feel about it. First of all I had very little expectation from the content or the quality of the class. That was a mistake on my part. Myself and my neighbor had signed up with READYLAC because it was the best deal in town and that was our mindset. Boy were we wrong? We get to the class sharp at 8 AM and we were greeted by a organized classroom with state of the art presentation technology, breakfast tacos, refreshments, study material etc. The instructor Mike was knowledgeable, respectful and used real world examples to explain legal mumbo jumbo which would otherwise be of little or no use to me if I had read them myself.
Mike and his colleague (I forgot his name maybe Don?) kept the class spirits up and interesting with great content delivery, necessary humor and attention to detail. The instructor also took time to answer each and every question without sounding condescending at any point in the 5 hour textbook class. Before we left off to the range he also explained in detail on various ways to correctly filling out the CHL application, prerequisites etc. The shooting range (where the shooting test is conducted) is located in Georgetown in a 1000 acre lot. The staff there along with Mike were very friendly and always gave clear instructions and direction. I was amazed by the level of attention to safety that was being demonstrated by these individuals! Overall a great CHL class recommended for anyone in the greater Austin area. Well worth the money and then some more. If I had known that this class would be so awesome and the rate was even double; I would probably have said «Just take my money». 5 Stars!

I am new to guns, just started in February 2013, and thanks to RLA I am no longer afraid of guns. I now have serious respect and love for them.
Well, I have nothing but good things to say about Ready Learning Academy. I not only took their CHL training course but also their defensive pistol 1 class. I was so satisfied with their professionalism, techniques and the way they taught the classes that I recommended them to ALL of my close friends. My wife and a group of about 8 close friends have also taken (or scheduled to take) their CHL and/​or PDP 1 class.
Mike and Dave are awesome. They take the time you need to understand the topics and to make you comfortable and SAFE. Oh, and they feed you well too ;-)
I will definitely be doing more training with them. I just went to my first IDPA match two weeks ago and I’m hooked! :-D
BTW. I used groupon for my CHL class.

it’s funny to see all these five-​star reviews. i guess groupon users don’t get that kind of respect. i was flaked on, lied to and dicked around for months. total bullsh*t.

I went to the CHL all day class last Saturday. This was actually my 2^nd time getting my CHL, as I let my license expire years ago after my 2^nd child was born. But now that they are old enough, I’m getting back into shooting. Mike did an EXCELLENT job in teaching the class! Not only covering the laws and consequences of using deadly force, but also the importance of dispute resolution. I HIGHLY recommend this course and right now the price can’t be beat. If you are considering getting a CHL, this course is one of the best.

I did a full day CHL class here last weekend. Mike the instructor was awesome. i felt engaged in class learning some things that would normally be considered dry. But he had videos and stories to illustrate points and really engaged the class in conversations. The range is not finished so it is hard to find and the road is not done. But then again I went to a finished range the day before and the road was not done. When we went to shoot I was nervous but Mike was our range master and he shouted clear instructions, allowed for finishing if you had a jam, and safety was number one the whole time. He broke down the instructions as if everyone was a first timer even though more than half the class had 20+ years of experience, which was exactly what I needed. I enjoyed my time in class and recommend Ready to anyone thinking of getting your CHL.

My husband Mike & I took the initial CHL course with Michel Avenel today, and I have to say I was so impressed with the professionalism of the instructor and the overall experience. I looked around for awhile wanting to get the best deal on this class, so when I stumbled across their new year special I jumped on it. I will admit that I was a bit skeptical about the quality of class since it seemed like they were offering it cheaper than anyone else in the area. If you are thinking the same thing, don’t. It was a top notch course. We learned more than we thought we would, passed the exams with no trouble, and actually enjoyed ourselves during a TEN HOUR course! The location was a very comfortable hotel conference room and we had plenty of breakfast tacos, pizza, and beverages to keep us comfortable throughout the day. I will be recommending them to everyone I know and we’ll be back for a pistol defense course in the future!
