Hiring Quality Handyman Services was a HUGE mistake. I found them merchandised on Angie’s List with what looked like good reviews. I contacted them and they provided the lowest bid I had received to pull up some carpet and install peel and stick flooring in my rental, something I could do myself but wanted to ensure a clean, professional look. I spoke with Steve Lee(owner/operator) on a Monday and made it very clear that it had to be done that weekend Sat/Sun as I had a new renter moving in on the following Monday. He assured me repeatedly that it would be completed — no problems. We emailed/spoke a few times that week and he met me promptly at 8am that Sat. He told me that he had contracted out to a family member(Dell) who was there too. I assumed it was a family business so had no problems with that. We spoke for a bit, they looked through the materials, and then they re-committed that they would be done on SAT and got straight to work. Steve also told me that I needed to go get some transition pieces for the existing tile to new laminate flooring and I told him I would. After going to 4 stores, I was able to find what was needed, purchased it and brought it back to the property. I never heard from him so Sunday I stop by the property at about 1p and the floor was maybe 10% complete and looked ok. I called him and his response was«we couldn’t get in.» I was like, why didn’t you call me, to which he had no response. He told me that they would go back first thing on Mon and fix it. To his credit, they did complete it. They never let me know they finished so I went back over on Tuesday and was APPALLED by what I saw. There were pieces already coming up, the edges looked like they were cut with scissors not even a straight edge, in some places you could still see the concrete, the transition pieces were never used so there was like a 34 in drop from tile to laminate — sure to cause major toe stubbing. Seriously, a child could have done a better job. Even better… the ENTIRE floor was crooked! Ill give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe that’s the shape of the room, but it wouldn’t be the first time and anyone with experience should know that they should hide any issues along the less visible wall not at the fireplace/focal point where there was at least a 1in difference the width on one side of the fireplace to the other. I really wish I could upload pictures on here. They are unbelievable. So I started contacting him very politely at first, emailing him pictures and asking him to please call asap and that I couldn’t get a renter in until it was fixed. I assume dhe trusted Dell to do a good job and hadn’t been supervising. And here’s the worst part — he didn’t even have the decency to call or email me back. Never, not once. And it gets better… it was such a nightmare, no other contractor wanted to try to fix what he did b/c no one thought it was salvageable. All while this is happening, I have an unrented rental. So basically, this guy comes in, wastes a ton of my time, over $ 1000 worth of materials, messes up my renter’s move in date, and costing me endless stress. Then doesn’t have the decency to even return my endless calls or emails. How he chose to handle me as a dissatisfied customer is a totally unacceptable way to do business. Especially when the dissatisfaction was clearly deserved based on the quality of work. I wholeheartedly recommend you DONOTUSE this company for even the smallest task.
