Nola Kitchen

Chef Mike cooked for us as part of a bachelorette party at a house we rented in Austin, and what a treat! It was wonderfully interactive and we loved hearing about the history of Cajun Creole, the recipes, and how to be better cooks! Everything was delicious, from the baked brie appetizer to the crab roumelade salad, shrimp etoffe with asparagus, and the Bananas Fosters for dessert with a fire demonstration! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an incredible private chef experience! And to top it all off – he did all of the cleaning up at the end!

Just had a meal made by chef mike. It was amazing. He explained all about Cajun food and showed us how he made the food. If I lived here I would have him cook for me again.

Mike came to our house as a gift from our realtor. Mike cooked a special meal for us meeting dietary restrictions for several members of our extended family, somewhat outside his normal fare (i.e. gluten-​free lasagna instead of Cajun food). He told stories the whole time and kept everybody well-​fed and well-​entertained. A delicious appetizer kept us busy at the beginning; the main course was filling and very good; but the highlight was the dessert, where he ignited a Bananas Foster for us at the dining room table (my favorite dessert).

For the «meeting of the famiiles» before our daughters wedding, we wanted to serve something that would appeal to the masses, yet have some flair. We had Mike at NOLA Kitchen bring in a batch of Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, and, wow, was it a hit! Everyone raved about it, and most went back for second helpings. My only regret is that the couple chose to get married during this years Mardi Gras festivities, as we would have loved to have Mike cater the wedding as well, but alas, he was out of town to participate in the parades, so we had to go to plan B!
Aside from this occassion, I’ve had Nola Kitchen cater many events, and it’s always delicious. While the New Orleans favorites are always special, no matter what the occassion or setting has been, Mike came through with flying colors and received positive feedback from the guests every time.
I highly recommend Mike for any catering job. He makes the hosting job easy. He always arrives prepared and on time, the service is friendly and the food always better than anticipated — TOP NOTCH!
