Striving my hardest to «keep local», I always find myself in a bind when it comes to work clothes. Shopping on Congress and Lamar for suit jackets and skirts isn’t even possible… as stores that carry such items aren’t financially possible in this economy. I have this problem, as I can’t always afford a monthly Ann Taylor outfit to compliment my wardrobe. Hence the problem of spending a lot of cash on outfits you only wear from 9 – 5. Can you look cute and professional, and hit up that trendy bar after work without running home and changing in fear of mockery from your friends? My answer is yes, you can. Where do you go? The mall. *GASP* Don’t fret, there is a secret spot near the front door. It’s called New York and Company. The store is a combination of workout/lounge wear, casual clothes, some going out pieces and work outfits! The quality is not bad. You can find suit jackets for under $ 69 and pants for way less than that. Plus they have great button downs and accessories that won’t break the bank. Some seasons they are cutting edge, other times the trends have been around awhile, hence the leggings and tunic look. BUT with the price of the merchandise, you can afford to buy a few pieces that won’t have you looking like a Forever 21 nightmare. Sign up for their email and rewards card. I get a coupon every week, sometimes offering $ 30 off when you spend $ 75. And that’s a freaking bargain if you ask me.

The sales representatives are helpful and attentive, but never pushy, and they always do their best to find a size, complimentary color or piece to complete your outfit, or call another store location if they don’t have a size you need. The clearance and sales are AWESOME, and there are always specials going on, with sections of the store marked down to 50% off or $ 14.99 or less. They also have sizes for all body types, which is a wonderful find: pants come in petite, average, and tall with each size(a great help for women everywhere).
