I recently move South and I went to Nanami on a recommendation from a friend. I gave this restaurant a second chance and again was disappointed with the service, atmosphere and food. My last visit started out with ordering two glasses of prosecco. We waited about 10 minutes for our drinks to come out. I finally walked over to the bat area and found our two drinks on the bar. No bartender around. I walked back to our table with our drinks. Both drinks were flat. Our waiter came over and did not mention nor apologize for our drinks. Instead he took our order. When our food came out, we noticed that our rolls did not look like what we ordered. After waiting several minutes for our waiter to come out I walked up to the front to get a menu. Again no one was up front to assist. After reading through the menu, we confirmed that what was brought to the table was wrong. I again had to track down a manger because our waiter was no where to be found. They did comp the wrong roll and brought out the correct roll. For a slow Sunday night, poor service was not acceptable. We will not be going back.

It’s expensive, but that’s not a complaint since the quality has always been excellent. I’ve eaten in the restaurant multiple times, but the delivery is where it’s at if you live nearby. Sushi to your door is awesome. The sushi is always perfect along with the dumplings and kids menu(which again we helped our daughter finish). My wife loves the udon bowls. The aesthetics inside will amaze you.

Good sushi! Not the best I’ve ever had but solid stuff all the same. Don’t sit next to the waterfall(loud). Will return.

Pleasantly surprised by this neighborhood sushi restaurant — great décor, ambiance, full bar, fresh fish and attentive service. Had the sashimi sampler and a couple of rolls. Enjoyed freshness and proportions. Will come back!

First time here with my wife, and we had a great experience. The server was attentive; the sushi rolls including surf and turf, volcano, and robin rolls were delicious; and the chicken julip soup was very tasty! We’ll definitely be back again!

this place was open Christmas Eve, so we went. Honestly, it was good. But it just wasn’t great. Service good. Not great. Prices were okay. Not great. Everything about this place was … adequate. Would I eat here again? Sure. But it definitely wouldn’t be my first choice for sushi. I didn’t get sick or anything, it just didn’t quite hit the spot, you know what I mean? Again, it was Christmas Eve, and I’m sure no one wanted to be working, and the place was understaffed and fairly busy, so take this review with a grain of salt, but I only plan on coming back if it’s a group decision, or it’s the nearest place to me and I’ve got a hankering. Side note: The calimari? Stay away from it.

My younger sister and I have come here the past two weeks three different times. Every time we have been here we have received excellent service and the food is always great! We love the fried tempura appetizer as well as the fried calamari. The spices they sprinkle on the fried calamari gives it such a great flavor. It’s like cinnamon. My sister jokingly described it as «the Japanese cinnamon twists.»(Taco Bell reference for those unaware) Our go to rolls are the Angel roll, the salmon roll, and the tuna avocado roll. Their fish is always fresh and tasty! The service is over the top awesome! The moment you remove the paper wrapping from your straw and chop sticks they come by and clean it up. I love that they keep the table clean. Not to mention they keep my water glass full throughout the meal. These last two weeks isn’t the first time I had been here, but it was for my younger sister. She enjoyed it so much she is the one who continued to suggest it! And I’m so glad she loved it as much as I do!

Absolutely blown away! Ordered some sushi, salad, and teriyaki chicken for pickup so I could eat on my lunch break at work. Everything was SO delicious and fresh, plus I was in and out of the place in less than five minutes when I went to pick up my order. The price is great too for the amount of food and quality.

I used to love coming here, and this was definitely my local go-to sushi place for quick lunches. Not anymore. Service was horrible. Me and my sister came around 12:30pm for lunch, expecting to be here for no longer than an hour at most with conversation. Instead, we left at 2pm. I ordered the creative lunch combo(two sushi rolls) and it comes with soup and salad. My sister ordered a bento box which also comes with soup. We ordered an appetizer(tempura trio) which came out on time, although we didn’t get any plates to use we just used our napkins and what not. Then came the waiting, which was alright since we figured they were putting our meals together. Our server brought out my sushi roll plate. That’s when I realized we had never gotten our soup and salad, either of us. Since our waiter(Marc) was nowhere to be found, I went to ask the sushi guys(who were the only employees around) and they apologized and a few minutes later our waiter brought out the soup and salad. Just for me. My sister still didn’t have her meal and also no soup or salad. Since I didn’t want to eat without her I waited on the entrée and ate the soup/salad. She also got hers about a few minutes afterwards. Well then the fun begins. The people who showed up behind us about 20 minutes after we got there(after we finished our appetizer) had ordered bento boxes, which were delivered to them. And my sister had not received hers at all. We addressed our waiter and to our surprise he was certain that she didn’t order anything. What? By this point, my main course had been at the table for around 20 minutes. It took another 20 minutes for her bento box to even come out, and by this time we were the only people left in the entire place. The couple behind us had already gotten the bill and left, and we were left waiting. I complained to the manager, a girl who was eating at a separate table. She took 20% off of our bill but when I mentioned we were probably never coming back, her response was«sorry about that!» And when she took our bill to be paid(where did our waiter go?) she goes very generically«thank you have a nice day» I can’t believe she expected us to pay almost $ 40 for the meal. Terrible, terrible service. My sisters meal should have been comped for the fact that our waiter was never even going to bring it to her even though he wrote it down. This place has really gone down hill and is so poorly organized. I would like to speak to a different manager but I’m sure I won’t get any different of a response. I’m super disappointed and as close as this is to my house, and as much as I’ve loved it before, and as good as the food is, I won’t be coming back.

To say I absolutely love this place is an understatement. This is my go to sushi bar. I’ve been going here since its been open and it’s been my favorite restaurant ever since. Not only is the staff super friendly and attentive but the sushi is amazing. I normally sit at the sushi bar and always have a blast. If you like raw rolls I would suggest the Paradise Roll(spicy yellowtail topped with escolar and avocado with a yummy garlic sauce) but if you like cooked rolls the Volcano Roll(baked shrimp and avocado topped with spicy scallop) is a must have. Both rolled with rice. Go eat here!

3 stars for $ 25 minimum order. Then they tack on $ 2 delivery charge, + tax + tip. By the time you order for just one person it’s $ 40.

The customer service was so good I had to write a review. I ordered take-out at 9pm, an hour before they close. I ordered some basic sushi and gyoza, just needed something real quick for a late night meal. They said the order would be ready in 10 minutes, which was awesome. I paid more than I think I’ve ever paid for sushi in Austin tonight. It’s worth noting that there wasn’t many people in the restaurant, and they were cleaning up for the night. I picked up my small to-go bag and I was on my way. When I arrived home(less than a mile away) I realized the gyoza wasn’t there. I called them right away and they were super apologetic. They sent a delivery guy out to me with my gyoza and edamame on the house. The gyoza was super tasty. My sushi selection is so basic(avocado roll, california roll) that it wouldn’t be fair to base the review on the food. Nice people and prompt customer service. I’ll be back soon.

I’m not a sushi connaisseur but I enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service. We came in for a late dinner and were pleased with the quiet dark atmosphere. There were only a handful of diners and we were seated immediately. Thanks to my naivity, the waitress offered a couple samples of saki to help make my decision. The tempura soft shell crab appetizer was delightful. We chose the Dragon Roll and Robin’s nest, both tasty. And because I like eel rolls so much we ended up getting that too. I consider the price in line with comparable higher end restaurants.

The tropical puffs are so good, I just wish there were more on the plate! We had a salad with the traditional ginger dressing, that was delicious. A crunchy roll, miso soup, fried cheesecake, and green tea ice cream for dessert had me in heaven. It’s close to home, reasonably priced, and DELICIOUS!

Service was great. My waiter was very friendly, and the food came out great. I came at lunch and it’s really dark for a lunch vibe. If I had to rate based on food alone it would be a 1 star or less. There is no flavor. I’ve never had rice at a sushi place that was so bland. Seriously. HEB sushi is better, and costs way less.

Nanami is slightly more expensive, but you definitely get better quality sushi for the price! The staff has always been very welcoming there and we usually spend our lunar new year celebration there! They have lion/dragon dancing every year . My favorite roll is nanami roll and I absolutely love their calamari. Not sure what they sprinkle on it, but it’s delicious. My other favorite rolls are tiger eye and lovers roll.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I miss this place. I used to order delivery(YES, DELIVERY) from this resto once every other week. The fish is fresh and I love their riceless rolls! The osumashi soup is great comfort food when you’re feeling sick and it hurts to swallow… but I would order it with every meal cause it’s so darn tasty! The happy hour has some good deals, and they have wifi! So if you’re able to work from different locations, maybe take off a little early and hit up their HH for the last hour of your day! ;-) The service and owners are great. If Jessica is at the bar, she’s libel to buy you(or at least coerce you) to get a sake bomb! She’s a lot of fun and the other waiters/waitresses are friendly. They have a good selection of sake if you’re interested in trying some. I would recommend either the sparkling sake or the pearl. Other favorites here include the escolar sashimi, baked avocado app, and the Paradise roll. Man, I miss this place. Next time I’m back in Austin…

Moving to Austin after living in Hawaii left us craving certain foods, mainly sushi. After trying a TON of places, we found Nanami. This has been our favorite place by far! The fish is still pretty fresh tasting, the portions are great, and I love their miso and salad dressing. Amazing! We always come here for lunch. The prices are reasonable and my favorite is the creative combo with yellowtail scallion and spicy salmon. On top of that, the service is always great! We would give it six stars if we could!
