I don’t wanna sound like I hate this place cause the sesame chicken was decent but I’ve had a lot better chines food. The portions where good size and the service was excellent. We where greeted by very friendly staff and the food was brought to us very quickly. I will say only after five or ten minutes our food was super cold and didn’t taste as good any more and the egg drop soup got thick and clumpy after a short time sitting still, which I’ve never seen before. All together very nice people mediocre food and fast service. I feel bad and wish I had more to say cause we where treated so well but I came expecting so much more considered all the hype the sesame chicken got. I guess I’m set in my ways when it comes to chines food and will stick to the places I personally think are a lot more tasty. Din ho still my spot for now!

Nan King will be my go to for Chinese take out in the area. I’ve ordered from here twice and have been pleased. Portions of meat are huge! I’ve had the sesame chicken and orange chicken. Both are very lightly breaded. The sesame chicken is delicious. It’s some of the best I’ve had actually! The orange chicken was good, just a little heat and sweetness. Not the best orange chicken but it was solid. I’ve also tried hubbies Nan King fried rice and it was yummy with a good mix of all the meats. I’m excited to try more dishes here!

Nanking is my favorite Chinese restaurant. This is a must visit place when I’m in town. They have the best(white meat) sesame chicken(perfect amount of sauce), great egg drop and hot and sour soups. Wonderful crab rangoons and dumplings. The lo mein is good, garlic chicken is a fave, good fried rice… Never really had a bad dish here!

Good consistent quality and friendly service. I am always pleased with anything that I order from here. When I order delivery my food always gets here faster than they predict, which I appreciate.

I have been enjoying Chinese food here for more than half my life, and it is still a favorite. Ate there today, and everything, from food quality to service, was pretty perfect. I ordered the egg drop soup, since I came down with a cold last night and needed something soothing, and it absolutely hit the spot. I also had the chicken with garlic sauce, and it was better than ever. Portions are plentiful, and the food was wonderfully fresh. My family and I save the egg rolls for last, because we adore their peach dipping sauce. The server was very pleasant and always was on top of everything we needed. All this AND their prices can’t be beat. Love Nanking!

My husband and I ordered two Dinner Specials that are served with your choice of soup. Fried wonton, egg roll, steamed rice and a fortune cookie. My husband ordered the Chicken with Pineapple Special and I ordered the Chicken with Mushrooms and we ordered a side of combination lo mein. Food quality and portion sizes are good. The food was a little on the bland side. I think the food could have used a little color and more spice… I don’t know but it’s lacking something.

They say you can’t go home again, but Nanking is an exception to this rule. I first went to this restaurant as a teenager in the 80’s. During a trip home this past weekend, we happened upon it and were surprised that they were still there. I tried to explain to my kids the concept of a pu-pu platter, only to find this dish is extinct in the Dallas area. But here at Nanking it lives in all of it’s campy flaming glory. Great, if small, egg rolls, monster ribs, perfectly seasoned chicken are in display and to taste to whet the appetite for what’s to come. The hot and sour soup is some of the best I’ve ever had. While the Sesame chicken was slightly over cooked and rubbery, the taste was amazing. The only knock was the service which could have been remedied by having more than one wait person on staff on a Friday night.

I’ve always enjoyed this place! I’ve probably ordered delivery at least 20 times in the past 2 years and they are always very good and consistent. Tonight I had the sesame chicken, fried rice and hot and sour soup delivered… It was so yummy! The egg rolls could be better, but they aren’t horrible… I still eat it :-) Staff is very friendly and ordering is very easy over the phone and online. Not greasy, don’t feel terrible after you eat it and overall very decent Chinese food.

I am heartbroken that one of the owners would think this was acceptable behavior. We’ve been going to Nan King for over 12 years, I loved this restaurant because it was one of the few places I could eat. We’ve hosted many birthdays and special events at Nan King for friends and family. But not any more. On our last visit, like always — I requested no corn starch as I am severely allergic to corn products. But this time the chef messed up and the dish came out with corn starch. I pointed it out to our waiter who happens to also be an owner. He looked annoyed and took it back to the kitchen. Then came back in less than 2 minutes. I was slightly stunned, how was a new dish cooked so fast? I told him thank you and worriedly reminded him that I am terribly allergic so I was glad he fixed it. He didn’t answer and walked off in a huff. The chicken was cold and watery. I couldn’t believe it — I whispered, «I think he just rinsed it off!» My husband said, «No. they wouldn’t do that.» So I ate a few bites and within minutes, my lips were swelling and throat was closing up. My husband was so upset. I was SICK for 3 days!!! This was just before we left on our family vacation so half of our trip was miserable. I cannot believe that this restaurant that we had frequented for years, where my children gave hugs to the owners like they were extended family would do something so irresponsible! It scares me to think they would do that to someone with a anaphylactic peanut allergy. That one incredibly selfish act to save some chicken could kill a person. I am speechless. We will NEVER return!

This is one of regular hangouts and go to’s. We’ve been coming to Nan King since we moved here back in 2006. The food is consistently tasty and prices are right. Don’t miss the sesame chicken, fried rice, egg drop soup or pupu platters. They are fun and quite entertaining for the little(and big) fire bugs in your life.

«NANKINGGOODCANCOMEOFTHIS» What can I say? The delivery took an hour and a half. The food had the texture of loose stool, and less flavor than a rice cracker. The broccoli was so old and overcooked that it was yellow. The driver didn’t even speak enough english to muster an intelligible excuse for being so late. No offer on the part of the business to make the situation right. DONE! I WILLNEVERORDERFROMTHISTRASHCANOF A RESTAURANTAGAIN. IF I COULDGIVEYOUNEGATIVESTARS, I WOULD. Don’t bother reaching out to try to make this right. You had your chance.

work till 5 — class till 945… I never expected to find a good meal at this time of night but when I called Nan King they took my order for pickup. GREATFOOD! I judge Asian restaurants by their egg drop soup and Nan King’s is EXCELLENT! I am so glad to find good Asian in the neighborhood after moving to Austin proper. They have a regular customer from now on!

This is the best Chinese delivery I have found! I have ordered from them 3 times now and will continue. I’ve ordered 3 different entries and each time, the food has not been a disappointment. It’s always still hot when delivered. My favorite so far is the sesame chicken and beef with broccoli is a close second. The crab Rangoon is to die for!

I was about to give it two stars but the friendliness of the waitress made me bump it up by one. The food is cheap. I got the Kung Pao delight, which was supposed to be spicy. I’m sorry, but just putting some red chiles on the plate without actually cooking the flavor in just doesn’t cut it for me. The place itself, the décor, is depressing; probably not coming back.

Well I just got« Unilocal’ed»! Yup 75 reviews and 4 stars but somehow this was a miss. The silverware was on the table, no placemats Got the A dinner plate of Tia Chin chicken with the pu pu plater. So the Hot and Sour soup was really good and so was the egg roll. That’s about where the good stopped and the bad began The spare rib was burn I mean black and gritty, the meat skewer was like jerky, the paper wrapped chicken was like mashed chicken meat wrapped in foil and was like a sponge The tai chin was very different, it wasn’t spicy and over all bland. The only flavor that came through was a dirty flavor from the beans and mushrooms. My wife got beef and broccoli which was again bland, Panda Express has better My daughter had the shrimp lo mein, it was the best of the three but very greasy The waitress did and ok job but didn’t check on us after the food was brought to is and the food wasn’t brought out together was spaced about 5 minutes apart Come on Unilocalers know your food and please don’t stray me wrong

First impression of the décor is good, looks like a Chinese restaurant but light is rather dim. As you can see from the photo, utensils are placed directly on the table, not wrapped up in a napkin or otherwise kept sanitary. Ask for chopsticks. Lunch orders come with soup, egg roll, and rice. I tried the wonton soup and it was quite good. Not exceptional, but good. Keep in mind these are very small soups, and as such, it comes with just one actual wonton. The egg roll is pretty standard. Hot and crispy. I liked it. The rice is not regular white rice, but fried rice with peas and eggs. By itself it is not that good, but mix it with the sauce that comes with the meat and it’s quite tasty. I had the chicken with red pepper sauce. The chicken is tender and moist, and the sauce is a mild spicy. For the price 6.25 plus tax and tip, its a good deal, although I’m not exactly eager to return for another meal.

They were alright. Not particularly amazing, but not terrible. The thing I really liked about them was that they could make a plate more or less spicy, depending on your preferences. For some orange chicken and two sodas, it was like 13 bucks. The portions were good enough, but the food was somewhat mediocre. The rice was almost like a paste. My buddy got the chicken paper, and he wasn’t too impressed with it.
