Friendly? Yes. Good food? Not really. Undercooked, doughy calzone and pizza made with wheat crust. Sinners.

Staff is always friendly, pizza is amazing! Their drinks are reasonably priced and have a kick to them. As for parking, I usually park behind MM.

Great handmade pizza. Unfortunately they are losing their lease after 10 years. Allen said they may reopen in Round Rock.

Super friendly staff. Our server was awesome and attentive. My water was never below half filled! So many amazing options for pizza(& a lot of stuff that sounded so good if you aren’t really in a pizza mood) I’m vegetarian so we clearly picked the vegetarian option which sounded amazingly delicious anyways. SOOOOOOO good. The crust is always my deciding factor on pizza and theirs was perfect. Not too buttery but enough that it wasn’t dry & all the toppings tasted fresh and yummy! Also read on the menu that they only use the good stuff which is common in Austin but always makes you feel good about what you’re eating! Thanks for putting me into a major pizza coma yall!

The service was good, but the pizza was nothing special especially for the harsh price. I did fall in love with the pretzels though. I’ll be back for those pretzels, but I wouldn’t recommend the pizza.

I am so sad that this location is closing on April 30th.): But I went here for the first time to try it with a Groupon. Per the server’s recommendation, I got the Mauie Wowie with half pesto and half red sauce. Loved the mix of toppings, with Jerk chicken, bacon, banana peppers, and pineapples. The crust was well-sauced(I liked the red sauce more than the pesto) but not too thick. We went at an odd time but the place was still packed(probably because of Round Up weekend). I don’t think the hoagies are worth ordering. my friend ordered a chicken cheese on pita but it seemed more like a shoddy assemblage of ingredients than an actual sandwich. Their pizzas are definitely good though. $ 25 for a large pizza is pretty pricy but I came with a Groupon so it was definitely worth it.

I ate at Mellow Mushroom some years ago, and don’t remember loving it. However, this time, we accepted suggestions from the server as to what pizzas to try, and WOW! We had some really terrific pizza! Let me add — I am EXTREMELY picky about pizza. But honest to god, I found this really good. And they let you split styles of pizza with no trouble — even different sauces. So you can try two pizzas in one. Love that. We got the Holy Shiitake and the Mighty Meaty. The Mighty Meaty was fine, a solid pie. But HOLYSHIITAKE! That pizza was delicious!!! We ate too many pieces because it was too good not to. The wonderful meatiness of the mushrooms was beautifully complimented by whatever else they put on there. Seriously, forget the meat. We wanted 7 more slices of the mushroom pie. It’s right on the Drag, so parking can be a pain. But it’s totally worth it. We’ll be back for that pie alone, although now I kind of feel compelled to try some of the others. Because maybe they’ll be fantastic too. As an aside, they also had a great beer special, and they have some excellent happy hour specials. And the server was really friendly, and very helpful. He steered us away from a pie that he said sounds good on paper, but isn’t really great in execution. Honesty FTW! Who knew? A chain pizza that’s actually good. Wonders never cease.

Really great pizza and good service! It’s a very laid back atmosphere and was perfect after our tour of UT.

Got a couple of pizzas today for lunch. Ingredient quality seems up to par, taste was good, but almost too bland for me. Good, but no flavors that really pop. One gluten free and one large pizza were $ 50. Yes you read that right. Big pizzas, high quality, so can’t complain at the price a whole lot. I’ll go back if I’m in the area, but probably wouldn’t go too far out of the way for it. Staff was very chill and the place is hip. Very mellow peeps(you see what I did there?)

A gal pal in Ohio had recently raved about the Mellow Mushroom in her hometown(Her son opened his franchise store recently so clearly she was biased) so when I heard we had one in Austin, I was intrigued. Groupon sweetened the deal with a 50% offer, so heck yeah. I ordered take out, but could easily spend time in the brick and mortar with pizza and a brew. The staff was super friendly, and the casual atmosphere with cheerful looking booths and glass storefront across from UT felt nice to me. So, I get our pizza home and look at it. We had ordered the KOSMICKARMA – from their menu: Red sauce base with feta and mozzarella cheeses, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and Roma tomatoes with a pesto swirl. It looked ok, but a bit bready and I worried that paying close to $ 25 for that pizza might not be something I’d do again. But it was fantastic. Something about the blend of those flavors, and OMG the pesto swirl is to die for. They also do something special to their crust, brush it and sprinkled cheese or something on it? Its great. I still think those at the«U» may have a hard time with the prices, but it’s darn good pizza!

Having been to a bundle of Mellow Mushroom’s across the country it’s natural to compare them. This one, feet from campus at UT, is one of the better places to eat on University. Meanwhile, look at what we’re comparing to; lots of average fast food restaurants and many other chains. However, for visitors, students or families in town for games, Mellow Mushroom is a fair place to eat lunch or dinner. There’s decent service, good salads, alcohol and pizza, their specialty. The pizza is much better than Dominos, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, ect, but isn’t going to wow you. Fortunately, nothing in this general area does and you didn’t come here for great food, rather to enjoy time with friends(there’s flat screens here), have a few drinks and bask in a cool atmosphere. There’s an endless option of pizzas available, allowing customers to go bland with cheese or pepperoni or get wild with an array of out of the ordinary options on the menu. You can’t go wrong.

Mellow Mushroom has good pizza. Chances are, you won’t be disappointed. I got the«Maui Wowie» and it was great. Pineapple, ham, chicken, banana peppers and bacon. The cheese and sauce also seemed to complement well. What stands out here is the crust. If you only eat thin crust, this place isn’t for you. The flavoring on this crust was fantastic. You know that feeling when you eat pizza and you’re a little disappointed when you reach the crust? NOT the case at Mellow Mushroom. The vibe is also pretty cool. Art hangs pretty much all over the walls, and a few wacky statues will catch your eye. A few TVs are also in the restaurant. It is a chain but don’t knock it for that. There’s an extensive menu that I look forward to checking out.

Great pizza but it sometimes takes a while. Service has been really good lately but in the past was pretty hit/miss. UT employees get 25% off which is nice. They have a solid selection of craft beers as well.

I came here for lunch the other day and ordered a 10 in. half Funky Q. Chicken and half Mellowterranean. I normally do not like thick crust pizza, but this was not bad! The Mellowterranean was definitely my favorite of the two halves. It was a bit more expensive than I would like to have spent on pizza. I came here around 2:30PM on Friday and it was empty maybe two or three other people.

Guuuuurlll. I came in thinking«oh it’s just those typical pizzas» OHMAN I WASKINDAWRONGBCTHEIRDOUGHISMADEOUTOFSOMEMAGIC. I got the pizza with a Cesar salad on top of it and my boyfriend got the pineapple and Canadian bacon. It was kind of a long wait even though there were barley anyone there… So we were like ???¿¿ kinda impatient and hungry. As soon as it came out, omg it was heaven, basically so gooooodddd and fluffy. THECRUSTISSURPRISINGLYGOODALSO. CRISPYBUTYETFLUFFY. My boyfriend never finishes his crust on his pizza but he cleaned the whole plate which was really shocking. The price is Somewhat pricey… We got a small and I think it was around 6 – 7 $ I don’t really remember exactly. But overall, it was good tho. Worth a try.

Biggest freaking salad I’ve ever had! &Probably, the most satisfying. I built my own– definitely recommend sun dried tomatoes btw. Mushroom soup was great! Also, had the house pizza? If that’s what it’s called. Everything was delicious. The service was almost nonexistent, but we tipped big purely out of satisfaction. If only you could tip the cook.(Sigh)

Get the red skins pizza. You feel awful about yourself better, but if you share it with three people, it’s only a third as bad. It was SOOO rich that I thought I was close to barfing, but my stomach told my head, «No way, you have to keep all this deliciousness, otherwise it’s a travesty.» Mind over matter, guys.

My friend and I came here on a late Sunday afternoon during museum day for a late lunch. We were starving, craving pizza, and this is one of my friends favorite spots. The interior is a hippy funky mix and fits right in with the eccentric Austin vibe. I had never heard of Mellow Mushroom before, but I guess it is a chain that my friend was familiar with. They are unique for their sourdough fluffy crust, which looked AMAZING, and cold craft beer selection. We put this place to the test, with the current detox we were doing at the time we visited. The staff were super friendly and sat right at the booth with us to take our order, and were very proud of their fresh quality ingredients, and spoke to us at length about it. I really liked that they had a page dedicated and clearly marked with the gluten free options. They also have a vegan cheese option, which we did try because of the detox. I ordered the mighty meat, and my friend put together her own pizza with some of her fave toping choices. First of all, the crust was better than average for gluten free, but not as good as some other favorites I have found in Austin. As always, it is thin crust, had a OK nutty flavor, stayed together, but was not completely crisp. There was still a hint of gooey on the inside. The vegan cheese to give it credit at least melted, and was tolerable. I am just not a fan of vegan cheese to begin with. The meat was delicious, but what stood out was the delicious sauce. This pizza didn’t need cheese, the sauce was great! We ordered a separate dish of the sauce, which they served heated up, just to dip our crust in. Probably one of the best pizza sauces I have had in awhile.

I am in Mellow Mushroom and its packed. The pizza is great, lots of happy people. Side note for parents, not real kid friendly. The college kids are a rough crowd and the menu is weak. We ordered the kids Mac and cheese and it was a sloppy mush pile that no kid would eat. We could not identify what pasta was used either. Order adult items only and you will be safe.
