We got the Queso Bacon Tacos(4 stars) off the specials menu. These were great! Not very crispy, but it has a thin layer with a light crunch. That’s the way I like my fries. Packed with fries and fresh toppings, we really liked this! We also got(I believe) watermelon juice. Super refreshing & nice.

The shrimp taco with avocado blew mind. The owner was so nice and helpful. He took the time to tell me the history of tacos in Austin. Given the opportunity he didn’t talk crap about torchys tacos. Instead he told me that they are good as well. Very refreshing. All of that wouldnt matter if their tacos weren’t awesome. Luckily for us, they are.

Yesssss heir breakfast tacos are so so good. The Monroe is super good. I went to the food truck on 1st street and they have a handful of picnic tables and umbrellas. They have a couple cute shirts for sale and an array of drinks. You can get corn or flour tortillas.

One of my favorite taco places in Austin. Great selection of different tacos. Everything is so fresh and full of flavor. My favorite is the migas breakfast taco. The corn tortillas are crispy and add a nice touch to the taco. I highly recommend eating at Mellizoz’s.

This is a wonderful taco truck. I stumbled upon it while exploring Austin, and I loved my «Big Azz Taco,» which was certainly named appropriately. It was a full meal between the two tortillas required for the overflowing beans, eggs, potatoes, cheese and bacon. So great having a Topo Chico to wash it down, as well. The service was fantastic and friendly. Can’t wait to return!

First time here, have been wanting to try this place for a while now. Born & raised in Austin and this spot is right in my childhood neighborhood which makes it all the more wonderful! I had the shrimp taco and the slow rider… the salsa was perfect as well. I honestly was about to go order more tacos, but I didn’t want to be a lush. However I will return soon!

God bless you Mellizoz tacos. You saved me from famishing hunger Friday and for that, I am extremely grateful. Came here after a brunch that I randomly wasn’t super hungry for(idk, seafood outside of the coasts has never sat well with me). All of a sudden as we got up to walk from South Congress back to downtown, raving hunger kicked in. Trying to be a chipper team player, I didn’t say anything. But when everyone pulled over to try Gourdough’s donuts, I promptly ran over for some breakfast tacos. One star off because I don’t love flour tortillas(esp when they’re not fresh), but the stuff inside was the stuff dreams are made of. I got one Pachuca and one Monroe. The Pachuca had egg, braised beef, pico and queso while the Monroe had potato, bean, chorizo, pico and cotija. I liked the Monroe slightly better(chorizo + potato is a hard combination for me to resist) but they were both great, esp together. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Austin.

Just a quick walk to the food trucks and we were in heaven. Lots of different food options, reasonably priced and served quickly. We opted for the shrimp, shroom, old school and low rider. The shrimp was good, but I enjoyed the shroom much better because it had more depths of flavor. The old school with shredded beef was the bf fav, although the low rider with beef was also very good. Despite asking, the side of garlic fries was not crispy, but not soggy either. I go crazy for crispy, so wasn’t thrilled. We ordered their organic green tea and lemonade which were both very good. Overall, a score, but I would order slightly different next time.

Holy crap, I forgot how good this place is! I just ate the most tantalizing mouthwatering tacos. .. no food, I’ve had in a long time! I ordered the«shroom» taco and the fried avocado and a side of beans. I honestly don’t know how to describe how nourishing and delicious these tacos tasted. From the salsa, to the fresh sprinkle of greens to the actual main ingredients, every flavor was balanced and satisfying. Forget church, just come here to be reborn!

Ugggghhh I’m drooling right now just thinking about my experience here! My one and only food truck experience when I was in Austin but it to say it was AMAZING is a deep, deep understatement. I was lucky enough to experience the padre and slowrider tacos, both on corn tortillas. The padre, my personal favorite, was a juicy pork that was marinated and topped with sauteed pineapple and a refreshing green salsa. The slowrider came in a close second and was braised beef with cotija cheese and simple cilantro on top. Both were overflowing with a large gift of meat and left no room for disappointment. I couldn’t be more happy that this is my only food truck experience in Austin, it gives all Austin food trucks a good start. Not to mention the service was efficient and incredibly friendly! A must while in town.

It’s hard to walk past Gordoughs and get anything else, but the tacos at Mellizoz are well worth the deviation. Make sure to try the chorizo/egg and Padre tacos.

It’s Friday. It’s 49 degrees. I’m hungry so i decide to walk 0.5 miles to get some steps on my fitbit. I don’t know where I’m going to eat but consider Torchy’s which has always been solid. As I get there I decide to keep walking to check out some of the other trailers further down 1st. I see this place and there’s about 6 people in line so I figure it must be decent. The guy taking orders is pretty slow but I decide to give him the benefit of the doubt. I’m thinking about getting a beef taco and a breakfast taco, but am turned away from the fact that the sign says«add .50 cents to all breakfast items after 12pm». I’m like, «are you serious?» what a way to treat your customers by nickel and diming them. I decide to order the slowrider and the padre since that added fee would be the same price as a specialty item. I ask if the guy could sub the pineapple and salsa fresca for the traditional pico de gallo to which the guy says, «any subs will add an extra fee» so i tell him to forget it. at this point i’m not feeling too good about this place. i give him the $ 8 and take my ticket. I’m thinking, «bad service can be forgiven if the food is good.» i get my tacos and notice that both are very wet due to the juices of the meat. i take a bite into the slowrider and feel the rush of salt overwhelming my taste buds. there must’ve been about 2 tablespoons of salt in that one taco. the padre was meh and it didn’t help that i was thinking about that extra fee as i’m tasting the pineapple chunk in each bite. overall, bad service and sub-par tacos. i should’ve gone to Torchy’s.

I have admit this food truck is amazing. I got the bowman taco and chips & queso. The meat in the tacos was tender, juicy, and had so much flavor. I recommend people to try the bowman.

I like this place for breakfast tacos. My go-to taco is a bacon, potato, and bean. These ingredients have a tendency to be very bland at other taco places. Not here. The potatoes and beans are seasoned well, and instead of one tiny strip of bacon, they load up the taco with bacon pieces. The owner is very friendly and welcoming, along with the rest of the staff I’ve met. One time we placed a to-go order when it was wet and rainy, and they offered to bring the finished tacos out to our car. However, there are a couple of reasons why I am not giving 5 stars. 1) the red salsa is incredibly spicy. I love spicy foods, but this is bordering on unreasonable. I wish there was at least a milder option. 2) My order has been mixed up a couple of times. I know I’m weird in that I don’t want egg on my breakfast taco, but I am always straight forward about it. Bacon, potato, bean… NO egg. We had to go back last time because they got the order wrong. They were polite about it, but it was still wrong. As far as ’04 goes, I will always choose Mellizoz for my breakfast taco needs.

The Mellizoz Taco Truck catered our wedding and we could not have been happier with our experience. Throughout the entire process, the team replied quickly to any requests or questions I had and made the planning process as stress-free and organized as possible. The tacos and queso were amazing and we were even able to provide an option for our guests who have a number of dietary restrictions. Food service was very quick and organized and all of our guests were fed in plenty of time for dancing and celebrating! It was the perfect cuisine and service for our laid-back Austin wedding. Thanks Mellizoz!

I can’t help it. They are part of the rotating trucks outside of my building and I went back to get the pulled pork taco. This time I also got the«carne guisada.» I use the term loosely because it was not. Carne guisada is cooked for hours, is full of flavor, tender, melt in your mouth, surrounded by yummy gravy. This was tough, grissly meat with a small amount of water based clear(slightly yellowish brown liquid) that reminds me of gravy from a packet. Yuck. I could’t eat it. It went in the trash.

I ate here for breakfast and lunch. The breakfast tacos were very filling and I enjoyed the subtle flavors in my lunch Del Mar and Shroom tacos. Admittedly, sitting on the bench in the sunshine is half of the reason I enjoyed it here so much.

Veggie Torta was delicious– avocado and mushrooms were so tasty, as were the garlic fries. –1 star for the fries being limpish and the meager serving of ketchup provided with the meal. I detest credit card minimums($ 5) but ehh… I understand it, no deduction.

Great breakfast tacos. And huge! I got the B.A.T.(Big Ass Taco) and it really was(although it was technically two). But if you’re like me and hate making decisions, this one gives you everything you need, all on a tortilla. The salsa was also very good, with a little kick. For a busy food trunk it was very fast. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re looking for breakfast.

These tacos are fantastic. Great corn tortillas and I’m not usually a corn tort kinda gal. They’re fast too. And fresh. Their salsa Verde ain’t bad, to boot. When my taco came out I was shocked at how huge it was. A full meal all its own with ingredients filling the plate/bowl/basket thing. An entire half of am avocado on top and the eggs were prepared perfectly with the spinach and bacon throughout so every bite had every ingredient. I added some salsa and ate every bite. So glad I chose this place for breakfast. Delicious and filling. The woman at the counter was very nice and personable and took my kids’ order without complaint and with a smile.

Great ‘trailer’ food! They have your typical breakfast tacos, and even have specialties named for Atx! Have a great selection of ingredients including spinach, avocado, chorizo, and tacos are pretty big, so I would start with just one! They have sides also, such as chips and nachos. Only has outside sitting, which can be miserable on a scorching day. Still one of my favorite places for breakfast!!!

Pretty good food truck. They have a lot of people working and the food was tasty. We went on a Sunday and they were open later than all the other trucks in the area which is a huge plus. There’s shaded seating and they also sell Jarritos drinks! yum!

Shame, Melizzo. 10 bucks for a «veggie»(really? a few mushrooms and some fried bread? what is that, hushpuppies??) on a half a sandwich(you forgot the top part)??? Soggy«extra crispy» fries, make a match. Put down the one-hitter and just make a sandwich. Know what? Don’t bother.

Escobar– Carne Guisada and pico de gallo –Slowrider– braised manchaca beef, cartelized onions corijo cheese and cilantro –Garlic Fries The best thing about this food truck is the parking. It has a lot of good parking unlike a lot of other foot truck areas. That aside, the tacos were good, not great, but good. The best out of the two that I had is the Escobar taco. Carne Guisada is one of my favorite dishes and they reproduced that in a great taco. The Slowrider sounded like a great taco on paper, but the manchaca beef was dry. Another bad hit, the garlic fries… Or just fries with little bits of garlic in them. Garlic fries is one of my favorite things to eat. This food truck should stick to tacos. The fries alone are good, but are not what I would consider garlic fries. I definitely suggest that you go get a taco from this truck. I personally will be back for more in the hopes that I caught them on an off day. If it improves, I will be back with another review.

One word: QUESO. It’s amazing here! And I’ve tried many a queso in my day… Mmm, my mouth is watering at the memory of it. So have a laugh at all the people waiting in line for Gourdough’s and skip on over to this taco trailer! Other things I ate: the Padre, a pork carnitas taco that was seasoned more like carne guisada and maybe a little heavy on the cumin, a breakfast taco that had to have contained crack in the eggs(they were *that* good), and the Old School, which is so much more than your basic crunch taco. The shell seemed deep fried – it was that crispy – and was filled with delicious seasoned ground beef, fresh romaine lettuce, and maters. Prices are reasonable here, with most tacos ranging from 3 – 6 bucks. Sides such as guac and queso will run another 4 – 6. There are four or five picnic tables in front if you want to enjoy your food al fresco, but they’ll also give it to you to-go! Whatever you get and however you eat it, make sure you don’t forget the queso!

Taco trailer next to Gourdough’s… small parking lot available. They also have quite a few wooden picnic benches for seating. Tacos are pretty delicious, but I find Torchy’s to be a bit more filling. Most tacos are around $ 3.50& it will likely take 2 to get full. Maybe 3 for the guys. What I loved: Portabello taco– chunky veggies with good flavor Fried shrimp taco– light & crispy slaw ontop that matched the fried shrimp perfectly. 4 shrimps for $ 4. What was okay: Carnitas taco– decent but not as good as the other two above Friendly service. Wait time: between 5 – 10 mins.

Austin is known for its food truck scene, and tacos are popular for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every time I’m in this city the taco craze overtakes me and I crave them! This visit I wanted to try a taco joint that I had never been to before. Melizzoz seemed appealing and it’s located conveniently on So 1st(right next the the now famous Gourdoughs). I got the Old School as a safe bet. It’s a crunchy taco with ground beef, lettuce, tomato, and sprinkled cheese. This little classic was great and the crunchy tortilla shell seemed freshly fried. I also got the Slow Rider and even writing out the name is making my mouth water! The slow cooked brisket is so tender and flavorful it really is crave worthy. Let’s not forget that caramelized onions top it off for a match made in taco heaven. My friend got a torta and she was drooling over the aioli sauce the entire time(and she’s a picky sauce girl). I would go back to this taco truck in a heartbeat. You need to go now!

This truck is in the perfect spot to get some really excellent tacos while you wait for the much longer line at the Gourdough’s truck right next to it. — Migas Taco($ 2.50) One of the better Migas tacos I had at one of these trucks, this was served hide and hot, which is part of the major improvement over some of the others. The copious amounts of cheese and tortilla strips really went well together with this one. — Bac-Spin Taco($ 2.25) This was my favorite thing here — the flavor combination of eggs, bacon and spinach was awesome. The bacon and spinach were chopped up and mixed into the scrambled eggs, which made for a neat, really delicious taco. — Padre Taco($ 3.50) Moving on to the lunch portion of the menu, the braised carnitas pork in this was delicious. This is a great choice if you are here for lunch. As most of the other customers seemed to be noticing too, the food took quite a long time to come out. However, I would take the wait over the alternative of faster service I received at other places where the food came out quickly and wasn’t even hot. More than just a good snack to tide you over for Gourdough’s, these tacos are worth a trip to this food truck park on their own.
