This store offers a wide range of timeless and unique gifts. I was transported back in time to my childhood and found my face hurting when leaving the store from smiling and laughing so much. The store is staffed by very friendly, professional, and fun loving people who want to give customers the best experience possible. You will not be disappointed when visiting this store. Be prepared to have fun!

Wandering down 6th Street I found this place to be totally up my alley for silly gifts. I ended up purchasing five post cards and a Bigfoot air freshener. The staff is kooky and really pushes the Museum of Weird on you. They’ve got their detailed description down but alas, I didn’t make it in there. I did bring my fiancé back the next day to get his kid a Keep Austin Weird t-shirt as a souvenir. A fun tie-dye one too. We also got the kid a cool stuffed owl called Furry Bones — it’s got a Jack Skellington-face on. The big prize we got was a Day of the Dead bride & groom statue thing. A perfect cake topper!!! Fun place, can’t leave here without finding something awesome to take home.

After a few delicious drinks up the street, I easily forked out the $ 8 per person ticket to see the Museum of the Weird. There were a few mummies but nothing really REALLY weird like I’d expected. Maybe I’m just hardened from all my years spent on the street. Maybe I got ripped off.

Had a blast! The young woman working the desk was super friendly to my girlfriend and I.(We visited a while back and I just found the biz card I took and remembered to give them awesome deserved feedback). They have some really random and really cool things in there! Very fun, whether window shopping, getting a unique gift or something for yourself. I totally recommend anyone wandering 6th to stop by and check it out. We were feeling adventurous and open minded so we went into the Museum of the Weird… awesome!!! Totally worth $ 5. I’m going to review that next! As we were leaving she mentioned they do afternoon scary cult movies upstairs, which sounded really cool so it’s on the to-do list. Stop in and say hi!

5 stars because I love this kind of sh*t and to support a great local business.(And I don’t even live in Austin!) The staff is very friendly and introduced me to the store, what it’s all about and what’s behind the curtain. The gift shop has an assortment of toys, comics and clothes. I especially like the Museum of the Weird designs. I was told that entrance to the museum is free if I bought $ 20.00 in merchandise, which wasn’t a problem as I walked up to counter with 3 shirts. The shirts are reasonably priced. Good quality printing on a nice shirt. The Museum has a great collection of oddities, statues and just strangeness collected over the years from all over the world. They even had a «Sideshow» performer do a few tricks. I won’t spoil the act, but it was a hoot to see these tricks up close. Don’t forget to tip on the way out! If you are a tourist in Austin, you’re gonna end up on 6th street anyway. Do yourself a favor and get your souvenirs from Lucky Lizard. There are plenty of generic Austin t-shirts all over town. Not only will you find unique gifts to bring home, you’ll also have a story to tell!

Before leaving Austin, I went her to look for some souvenirs. I was just browsing, but the people who worked here were really pushy. They were friendly enough, but too pushy. I found a t-shirt I wanted bought it and tried to get out. They said that since I bought a shirt I could get into the museum of oddities for free. I said no. I just wanted out. In retrospect I should have gone to see the Fiji Mermaid. If you want to see weird things or buy souvenirs, this place is ok.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I came back to 6th Street one day and couldn’t find this place again(like some Stephen King book or a Twilight Zone episode). Was it a dream? Did I imagine everything? How did I get a glow in the dark shirt from this place? Anyhow, this is surely a gem that helps 6th Street reach a higher level of extravagance. Inside, the store is quiet, campy and almost unassuming. Then you find out that they have a «Museum of the Weird» in the back and all ideas of this place are out the window. Behind the curtain, there is a small area packed with an extensive collection of artifacts that P. T Barnum or Robert LeRoy Ripley would be proud of(in fact, a wax statue of P.T. Barnum is back there). From mummies and wax sculptures(which look really good), to mutated stuffed animals, it’s amazing that(whether real or not) this size of a collection can be found outside of a Ripley’s Believe it or Not. The guy running the shop(and I can probably safely say, also the owner) fits in perfectly within this store. With his handlebar mustache and a joke for anything you ask about, he certainly adds charm to a place that is already wonderfully comfortable in its own absurdity. If you find yourself on 6th Street, go visit this store and help support this man’s dream of bringing you entertainment through the strange and bizarre.

This place sells some pretty typical«werid» gifts, nothing actually very abnormal. It does however have some local hand made gifts. The real treat though is the museum in the back. I don’t want to spoil the surprise but since it only costs $ 3 to get in, I thought it was definitely worth it.

This store is cute and full of good Austin souvenirs. I found some cool coasters for my best friend’s birthday, a bracelet made my a local artist and the cliché«Keep Austin Weird» sticker for my daughter. Friendly staff and lots of odd things to browse.

Interesting little gift shop with tons of strange stuff. If you are looking for a «Keep Austin Wierd» T-Shirt you came to the right place. Would have gave four stars as a fan but they need to either fix the AC or turn it on as it’s been hot as hell in here. Check the news stand at the front door as they have FREE copies of «The Onion»! Woo Hoo! A guaranteed sobriety check for your friends! Haha! :)

This was an oasis in the same-old, same-old of East Sixth Street souvenir and gift shops. They had the obligatory rack of souvenir Austin shirts, but they also had so much more: locally crafted Frida Kahlo decoupaged boxes, «Fish with Attitude,» quilts, soy candles, and even the Klempetti Family Exercise Video. If you don’t know what that is, I suggest Googling it — you won’t be disappointed. Steve, the owner, had just opened the shop, and he seemed pretty enthusiastic about consigning our own handcrafted projects. Well, needless to say, I bought the Klempetti video. I couldn’t resist. Go to Lucky Lizard and get yours, too.
