I had a 5 kW system installed by Light House Solar in 2013 on a 1500 SF house built in the ‘70s. Energy efficiency was not ones of the parameters with this home’s construction to say the least. Light House Solar provided a plan to improve the heat gain/​heat loss dynamics of my house, implemented the improvements, tested and retested to verify results. This was all done before panels were installed. I cannot emphasize enough the professionalism and expertise provided by Jeff and his team at Light House Solar with the permitting process, installation of panels, inspections and personalized consultation on its operation. One other item to be noted, my May electric bill was $ 19.00.

My wife and I had a great experience with Lighthouse Solar. It started with me calling them just to get some information. It turned out that day the sales people where out making sales calls so the receptionist put me through to Stan Pipkin, the owner. After spending about an hour educating me, Stan informed me that I’ll receive an email from DJ Rosebaugh which I did. I found DJ to be very informative like Stan. Additionally, his patient and non-​pushy demeanor further attracted us to Lighthouse Solar as my wife and I had already spoken to about five different solar companies regarding our project. We signed the contract and had a great pleasure of meeting the project manager, Jeff Bendall, who treated us like family. Everyone one we came across with at the Lighthouse Solar was amazing including all the installation personnel Sam, Daniel, Andrew and Cody. We interacted with them all throughout our project and found them to be extremely professional and polished crew. In conclusion, you will definitely not go wrong with Lighthouse Solar. They’re already doing my father-in-law’s project and will be doing my colleague’s project in the near future.

I had a solar system on my roof that had defective equipment. I could not get the manufacturer to talk to me and my installer had gone out of business. Lighthouse Solar helped me get the equipment replaced and installed everything beautifully. Their people are efficient, friendly and caring. They do what they promise, communicate well, and touch base after the job is done to insure satisfaction. I highly recommend them!

These guys were a solid choice for my 7KW solar install. From start to finish they were professional and Very customer satisfaction oriented. I am very particular consumer and I asked many questions and explored options before committing to the project. They embraced my inquiring mind with an attitude of opportunity to teach and educate. I am extremely satisfied with my decision to use Lighthouse Solar and very proud of my «Power Plant». I’m 8 months in since going solar and the results are even better than I expected.

Lighthouse put in a 6 kW system on our house and did a great job. Jay and Jeff were very helpful and responsive. They didn’t oversell, and they bent over backwards to make sure we understood our system and how to monitor it online. With rebates and other incentives plus big improvements in efficiency, this is a good time to put in solar in Austin.

It’s one thing to get customer service from a department store when your buying a shirt or returning a tie. But when you’re spending 10’s of thousands of dollars on solar, you want to be taken care of. About 2 months ago I had a 38 panel system installed on my house. From the first phone call til the final walk thru, Lighthouse Solar went above and beyond, delivering a phenomenal customer service experience. These guys ran point on everything! Through the entire process we were never, not even once in the dark about anything. These guys are responsive, listen to their customer’s needs, and their estimates of energy production are spot on. We are producing at or more than what we were projected in the beginning, and at the end of the project we were right on budget! Lighthouse installed a 49 panel, 13.4kw system on my house that went operational in February 2015.
The process started about November 2014. But with about a month out for an insurance replaced roof and several weeks wait for several Austin City inspections and a final few weeks for the final meter to show up, we are producing lots of KWHs, 15.8MWH so far in a little over 9 months.
The actual installation was done over 4 days with another 2 days to replace my main electrical panel with a much safer one. This was not a requirement, but a choice after reading about the problems people were having with the kind I had. Glad I did that and sleep better at night now.
All the folks from Lighthouse were very professional. I got estimates from over 5 companies, some not so reputable. I have just been reading Unilocal about a major company the does not do work in Austin and all the problems those people have had and so felt compelled to rave about Lighthouse.
You can trust Lighthouse to do a quality job for you at a very competitive price. We are lucky to have such a reputable, capable and honest company in Austin to work with. They are the only estimate you need to get, but go ahead and get 2 or 3 more just to prove they are the company to go with.
My system qualified for an Austin Energy rebate which paid for just over a third of the system. The 30% tax credit on the remainder covered just under a third and this left me with about a third to come up with which I financed below.
Owning is the only way to go. I financed my system with a very low cost. 3.6%, 10yr home equity loan from Austin Telco. My savings from my electric bill pays my loan and puts an extra $ 50 per month in my pocket. Thus, no cash out of my pocket! After about 8 years the loan will be paid off and all income tax credits collected. I am retired and do not pay much in taxes, so it will take me a few years to collect all the tax credits. In the meantime, I have no utility bill and pay no income tax.
Lighthouse stands behind their work so you do not have to worry about it. They use quality products that have long guarantees to cover their long lives.
So go ahead and call Lighthouse today. In a few months when your electric bills are gone, you will be glad you did.

Solar has been up and running on my house for 6 weeks now. Im a Power Plant! Lighthouse was great in educating me as we went along. They moved a few things around on the roof so that we could get the most panels and associated power as possible. The Lighthouse team was a great group to work with. There are others in the neighborhood that have gone with Lighthouse also and I hear nothing but good experiences.

Did a large solar project on a standing seam metal roof. Lighthouse built trusses to get the proper angle to the sun and rebates from Austin Energy. Ran into a hiccup on the first day of installation where we had a miscommunication about which side of our house is the front (corner lot.)
Lighthouse moved the trusses they installed for us to a place on the roof where they wouldn’t be visible from our backyard (front yard… see, it is confusing.)
The installation process used clamps to keep the integrity of our roof which was the number one concern. Solar has been up and running for half a month now and we’ve been through 60mph wind gusts with no problems.
Lighthouse provides a website to monitor usage which is nice and so far we are getting great results. We use more than average due to being an all electric house with a pool and we generate 50% of our power from solar in total… and it has been a cloudy March. During a sunny day we make far more than we use and it tends to even up in mornings and afternoons, leaving night to get the deficit.
Expecting to get around 70% of our power in summer and full payoff in 6 years. Most households with enough roof space could get 100%, but like I said, we use a lot so this helps. Total cost before rebates was very close to what we expected and with rebates and tax credits we feel like we robbed the taxpayers… sorry everyone. I’m against subsidies… but smoke em if you got em.
Would recommend to anyone in Austin. Great to work with and we have room to add to this system so we might call them up again down the line.

Recommended to me by someone in the solar business, Lighthouse did quality work on time and communicated really well about the process, the cost (and rebates/​tax credits) and when they intend to be working on my home.
