I brought a friend here for her birthday dinner and the whole time we couldn’t stop raving about how everything tasted so delicious. First of all the interior was beautiful. I love the windows and also the outdoor seating looked very cozy. Cauliflower Gratin I’m not a huge fan of cauliflower, but I enjoyed this! Hanger steak Wow. The steak just bursts with juice and is so tender. Idk what sauce it comes with but I really enjoyed it. Chicken thigh I’m not a big fan of getting chicken with bones because it gets to messy for me, but this chicken thigh was worth the extra effort. Frites YOUNEEDTOGETTHEFRIES. They were perfectly seasoned and the sauce that they come with was absolutely divine. Birthday cake ice cream sandwiches These were the biggest disappointment for me. I think they’re overhyped. They were okay, but not worth the hype. I’d rather go somewhere else. I told them that it was my friend’s birthday and they still charged us for the ice cream sandwiches. If I had the money, I definitely would come here again!

Launderette is a prime example of what I hate is happening to Austin. It is a pretentious restaurant smack dab in the middle of a poverty stricken neighborhood. I would wager that the overwhelming majority of Launderette’s patrons wouldn’t take a walk in this neighborhood or speak to one of the non-hipster neighbors. It’s just sad to me. My companion read about in in Bön Appetit & really wanted to try it. Now for an honest review of the service & food: We had the loveliest waitress who answered all of our questions. She was kind, attentive & informative. I ordered the PEI mussels, which I was warned were spicy, but they were only mildly spicy to me. They were unusual & ok, not, spectacular. If it wasn’t for the bread, which accompanied them, I would have remained hungry. I enjoyed my tea, but again, nothing special.

The food was amazing for its price point. We had the chicken, the salad Nicoise, the mussels and the burger. Everything was excellent and we loved it. The desserts are a must try– they look fantastic and taste even better.

Really, it is 3.5 stars, but between«A-OK» and«I’m a fan», I would go with A-OK. Laundrette competes in a high-end, creative cuisine space occupied by other wonderfully creative restaurants in Austin, and it needs to step its game up to blow me away. We went with friends who have Laundrette on their regular list and rave about it, so I would guess the issue is of consistency, and maybe I hit a not-so-great night. After previous failed attempts at dining here(greater than 90 min wait times), we got seated right away, outdoors, on a cold night. Sadly, close to a non-functioning heater that the hostess told us was functioning and would be lit up, when asking if that table would work for us. Bring on the blankets, which they thankfully provide for their cold customers. Make sure the heater is already on and working before you sit down! We tried and tasted several things. The standouts and near-misses in my opinion are: Snacky Bits: Burrata: Can’t go wrong with a burrata. In fact, it is my personal go-to appetizer. Somehow, the kitchen managed to char the toast a bit too much. As I said, consistency. Fried olives: This is a yummy snack for anyone who likes anchovies. It is fairly fishy in flavor, so be warned. Yummy to me, not to all :) Piquillo peppers: This was the best app I tried, hands down. With a delicious meat filling, the peppers hit the spot. Toasts: We tried all three varieties. Just order the crab and skip the other two. Grill: Unfortunately, I didn’t try any of these, so I present you second hand opinion that the octopus is awesome :) Veggies: Onions — very nicely composed, but a little on the sweet side. Brussels Sprouts — excellent Okra — Meh. and I LOVE okra. Fries — limp and sad. I had been told their fries are spectacular. This batch was utterly soggy in consistency. Again, consistency(oh look, a pun!) Specialties: We only tried the pork ribs, which were good but not great. They were out of the burger, which I really wanted to try. Dessert: Key lime Sunday is divine and utterly unforgettable. The ice-cream sandwich is utterly forgettable. Drinks– My fav was a cocktail version of the bruleed pineapple mocktail. Go on, try it once. It is definitely good, though it didn’t make my favorites list.

I ate here recently and had the hanger steak plus vegetable. I thought the steak tasted great but the portion size was way to small for my tastes. I probably won’t return.

Launderette is your typical hipster eastside Austin foodie eatery. Launderette does not take reservations, so you sometimes need to be patient and wait. The inside seating area is a fun 50’s modern diner theme. It can get crowded and loud. I love how they have made their outdoor covered seating area cozy, spacious, and nice. They have so many space heaters outside, that even on the rainy, cold, dreary evening we sat outside comfortably. They even provide blankets to wrap up in. I preferred the outside seating as it was possible to have a conversation. The service was fantastic and friendly. The menu is seasonal, and as other establishments focused on local, and fresh ingredients. Also, no surprise, the menu is focused on family shareable plates. The portions and the price point per menu option don’t always align well. For example, the octopus was extremely small for the price, yet the branzino was a whole sized fish and a good value for the price. The menu is hit or miss, there are some things we loved, and others that weren’t so great. The crab toast was heavenly, even if you can’t eat wheat take a bite of the crab. The crudo was fresh and tasty. Yet, the charred octopus was chewy and tasteless(pass on this one!). The brocolini was mediocre. The Brussel sprouts were typical Austin style sprouts, but tasty. The bucatini and chicken were OK. The delicious dish that we almost didn’t get was the whole branzino. It was perfect to share for 4 people(with some sides), and delicious! It was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I think the desserts here are worth skipping. You can get better desserts elsewhere. I was not impressed. They are also small portioned and divided for sharing. The flourless chocolate cake was mediocre, I have had better. The birthday cake ice cream sandwich, was very rich and too sweet. The cocktails were delicious and well mixed, and priced well at about $ 11. The wine list is pretty good. I love that the beer is served in Laundrette specialized Koozies that you can take home with you. Overall a wonderful evening with friends. The menu is just not consistent. When it is good, it is great.

I came in not knowing what to expect and was happy as a clam after our meal. We tried several different items on the menu and each one was better than the last. The highlights of the meal: The Burrata was sweet and creamy — even the bread was great! Roasted cauliflower has never tasted better. We lucked out and got a free order of the Frites… a total win! The Crispy Pork Ribs fell off of the bone and had an sweet, but not rich, flavor. The preserved brussels sprouts served under the ribs elevated the dish to another level. The only con; I was sharing each dish with two other people and I really could have devoured this myself… but, sharing is caring. If you don’t get dessert here, you’re not doing it right. We got the Key Lime Sundae and Birthday Cake — holy crap! That’s all I have to say about that.

So different but oh so good! This meal consisted of so many things I would have never ordered before but I am so happy we did. I came here with some family friends who have spent a fair amount of time abroad and new what a lot of the items on the menu were so I let them do the ordering. We ordered a good amount of items for the table including: ZUCCHINI: CHICKPEAHUMMUS FRITES KALE GINGERPROFITEROLES While all of these were amazing the hummus and profiteroles were unreal. Never thought I would say that about hummus, but they pulled it off. My only disappointment with the meal was my main course. While most places, this would ruin a review but every other dish I tried was so good that I really couldn’t say that much bad stuff. I ordered the PORKSCHNITZEL. It really lacked any flavor or texture. I would definitely not order it again. Other then that, this place was great.

So. after seeing about 100 posts on instagram about this special birthday cake ice cream sandwich, I had been talking about visiting Launderette for months. Well, I sure as heck was NOT disappointed when I finally made it here. The visit here started off a bit rocky as the hostesses were a bit unwelcoming. After telling us our wait would be about 45 minutes, we were asked to sit at the outdoor area in front of the restaurant while waiting for our table. Outside we go to sit at a table, and less than five minutes later the hostess came outside and asked us to «wait at the cocktail bar around the corner». Who knew there was even a bar around the corner? She didn’t give us directions or walk us there, she just motioned her arm in a general vicinity and went back inside. Anyway, we decided to just dine at an outdoor table. Our server, on the other hand, was extremely friendly and very helpful when we asked her opinion regarding which dish we should choose. She provided a detailed explanation of each dish, and made them sound equally amazing. We started off with the fried olives, which were amazing! Each bite was just bursting with flavor. I ended up ordering the cheeseburger and I’m so glad I did because it changed my life. This isn’t just any cheeseburger, ya’ll. It has small pieces of bacon mixed into the ground beef. It also comes with perfectly flaky and toasted buns(made in house), and a «special sauce» which was to DIEFOR. For dessert, I tried the Birthday Cake ice cream sandwich. I wouldn’t say it’s the best ice cream sandwich I’ve ever tasted, but not the worst. And it’s just so stinking cute with the little sprinkles on top. All in all, great experience here. The hostesses could surely offer a warmer welcome(smile a bit, it won’t kill ya). However, the server was excellent and the food was top notch. I would recommend this to any friend and am definitely going to come back and try more dishes.

I came back for the burger. It’s amazing. The fried green tomatoes are also amazing especially paired with the jalapenos and cheese. We tried the ambrosia and the carrot parsnip cake for dessert and they were also amazing. The carrot cake had goat cheese, which is a very strong flavor, so beware. Although it was cake it was still very light, just wonderful. The ambrosia was so refreshing too. Service was very quick and friendly and the drinks were delicious! That burger, though!

A good brunch option. My friend and I arrived early. We put our name on the list and were seated right away. The staff were extremely friendly, but unfortunately we’re not that attentive. We waited quite a long time to order and then refills on water and me trying to get a second mimosa was a bit of a wait. The menu had an adequate number of options and the food was delicious! I had the Duck Hash and my friend had the Salad Nicoise. Both of us were satisfied with our meals. And… even though the service was a bit slow, we weren’t in a hurry. I will be back!

We had a 9PM reservation but weren’t seated until 9:35 pm /9:40 pm due to an issue with their systems trying to check out the previous diners. The staff at Launderette were quick to apologize and comp the drinks we ordered while waiting as well as the desserts we ordered. It was nice they stepped up and acknowledged their mistake. I was pleasantly surprised to see that we would be seated in a large round table with a lazy susan in the middle. Normally large groups are seated in a long rectangular table so this seating allows for easier conversation and eye contact. Food from beginning to end was delicious. I really enjoyed every bite. I thought all the dishes we well executed and perfectly seasoned. As a group we ordered a variety of things to share like. Burrata — Creamy and delicious with the fig and accompaniments Beef carpaccio — Perfect thin sliced beef that paired well with the vinaigrette Soft Egg Toast — I could have ordered 2 – 3 more servings of this! DONOTMISS Aleppo Prawns — Not overdone Charred Octopus — I really liked how tender the octopus was! I hate tough octopus Sticky Brussels Sprouts Grilled Broccolini Brick Chicken — Tender, moist and flavorful! Crispy Pork Ribs — Fall of the bone tender. I loved the sauce that covered the ribs For dessert we ordered the Ginger Profiteroles, Birthday Cake Ice Cream Sandwich and Flourless Chocolate Cake. My favorite was the chocolate cake. I thought it was delicious! Overall, I’d return to try other things on the menu. Service for the most part was prompt and professional. I did accidentally get pricked by a knife(didn’t cut me) when the server was trying to clear the table.

Solid 4 stars. The food was phenomenal as was the décor. Definitely good for a romantic evening or a fancy dinner with your folks. The service wasn’t perfect. They were a little confused by our allergies(2 people with lactose intolerance and 1 with celiacs). We also had to ask for a water refill which was bizarre at such a nice place. One random: a lot of the clientele was middle aged but the music was more hip hop. Wasn’t bad, just didn’t seem to match the rest of the crowd and ambience.

3.5 stars Absolutely loved the ambiance at night– the lighting, patio, furniture all fit well together. It was casual but nice & the lighting was warm… Almost like going to a friend’s house. Parking lot was tiny– parked on the street. Service was okay– no specific complaints… but for the price you pay, I expected more friendliness(aka it was no Uchi) Drinks– $ 11 definitely recommend the Birds of Paradise and the American Pharoah. Birds if you like sweeter. Strong and well-balanced with depth of flavor. I still prefer Peche for cocktails for this price range but these weren’t bad. Dessert– wish I got to try everything but I loved their flourless chocolate cake the most out of what I got to try! Also enjoyed the ginger profiteroles & key lime. Ambrosia was a bit too floral for me. Didn’t get to try the birthday cake ice cream or carrot cake… $ 9 a pop. Again a bit steep for the small portions but taste and quality were there!

Wow, Launderette definitely is added to my favorite restaurants in Austin list. Incredible food, drinks, and ambiance, and the menu was surprisingly well priced. It was the perfect restaurant for our group of four because we were all happy to order small, shared plates and try a bunch of items on the menu. Some of our favorites were the soft egg toast, plancha burger, and sticky brussels sprouts. We tried a number of the vegetables options and they were all delicious. I don’t think you could go wrong with any order honestly. I don’t have many restaurants that I visit frequently because there are so many I have yet to try in Austin, but I will definitely be returning here. Their lunch menu, brunch menu and 5−6pm happy hour look just as good as their dinner service.

Outstanding, from start to finish. We arrived early; no trouble getting a table at 11:30 a.m. for Saturday brunch. The space is delightful, breezy, open and amazingly quiet for a busy restaurant. While my hip, 17 year old stepson was enchanted by the chic diner décor of the 60’s, the man and I were warmed and relaxed by the nostalgia. The wait staff is so cohesive it was apparent they loved working together. Nothing makes a place feel happy to diners, like good cheer among the players. The brunch menu is amazing and I’ll be back to sample 4 things we didn’t order this time. So, we ordered the items below(ratings there): Duck Hash— gorgeous presentation, plenty of duck, perfectly chopped roasted potatoes, light on Brussels sprouts. Overall, it was missing that certain«something» 4 stars Salad Nicoise— generous portion of lovely tuna(rare top, seared base) over beautiful greens. Yum dressing – weird roasted(hard, dry) olives. 4.5 stars, and a nod to great value at $ 14 The Americana– looking for fabulous eggs, with bacon, toast and a nice present in roasted tomatoes and mushrooms? Look no further, this is 5 star, albeit pricey at $ 12 Mimosa – pricey at $ 6 but more affordable by carafe. Lots of sparkling, light on the fresh squeezed OJ. Depends on what you like I guess, 3.5 stars Coffee– dark, bitter. I was not a fan Overall, a solid 4 and I strongly suspect I’ll find that«dish» that tickles me into giving this great establishment a 5 star review. Can’t wait for next weekend to try the Fried Oysters Florentine

Blown away by the value of the items on Launderette’s menu. We went with another couple and did a family style meal with a wide variety of vegetables and main courses and couldn’t have been more impressed. The burger and the brussel sprouts were the real standout but there was nothing that we regreeted ordering. The space is great and we were able to sit on the patio under a heater and had a wonderful time. We will most certainly be back!

I’ve been on an octopus frenzy and had my eyes set on the charred octopus here. It was quite a disappointment, over-charred and chewy. And for $ 18, only one 5 inch tentacle. I’ve had amazing braised octopus for less. The other items we ordered, however, made up for it. Red snapper crudo, about 4 pieces, was in a really refreshing and light dashi sauce. Fresh and slightly sweet. Really good! I could easily eat two orders by myself. Zucchini — a shaved zucchini salad with other greens was surprisingly delightful. Pine nuts, baby yellow grapes?, candied walnuts, and feta. And the brick chicken, moist and perfectly seasoned. I typically will not order chicken breast anywhere if there are other options. However, on a recommendation from a friend, I ordered it. Came with pureed potatoes and either braised collard greens or chard(not sure). The chicken skin was crispy but the meat was so moist, I couldn’t beleive it. Unfortunately did not have room for dessert. Would’ve been a 5 star review if the octopus came out good. Service was great. Nice patio. Not sure if it’s dog friendly. They have their own parking lot. About 10 – 12 spaces. There is also nearby street parking.

It’s everything you expect in a New Millennial restaurant, so come & enjoy the show. It’s hip & cool, loud & vibrant, small plates & casual chic. There were moments when I thought I was judging dishes from«Chopped,» but I tend to overthink these kind of things. Launderette is definitely a Tide of good stuff & happy people. And you’re going to wait for a table, so get over it. On a Wednesday night at 8 it was only a half-hour wait for the two of us, and an Austin evening in September can be perfect patio weather. I have no doubt weekends here are a zoo. Incidentally, the staff is great and this restaurant is incredibly loud inside. Just go ahead and order the Labneh & Birthday Cake stuff so you can check it off the list. I thought the crab toast was pretty cool, and for some inexplicable reason, I was going nuts dipping French fries into that orange sauce. Ooops, that should read«Frites.» Our guy John informed us there were four branzino left for the evening, but we opted to share the mussels instead. FWIW, I don’t drink, and I was buzzing long after finishing the broth. It was not entirely unpleasant. Most people enjoy hearing me sing. And finally, I’d consider coming here with a small group of peeps, just to order a lot of plates and share them with everyone. My only regret was not ordering all of Ms Sawicki’s desserts, because she can do some truly amazing stuff. Coming back to do that is definitely on my list. Launderette should pretty much be on everyone’s list.

Oh my gosh!!! Love everything about this place! The ambiance is so incredible on a cool summer night in Austin. Launderette is in a quaint neighbor in Austin, Texas. It has indoor and outdoor seating(recommend outdoor) with a great vibe to it. We got to the restaurant on a Wednesday night around 8:30, it was packed! We put our name down on the list(wait was 25 mins) and grabbed a drink at the bar! The drinks were great… we ordered another round at dinner! We took our first drinks to sit outside and wait for our table. Minutes after sitting down our table was already ready! Our waitress I believe her name was June or Rose(sorry I don’t remember) some what tall, slender, beautiful curly hair, cool personality. She had a great chill vibe to her. She was super informative on figuring out what we wanted, what we could share and what was worth getting more of. We started with another round of drinks then ordered an appetizers. We got Nanas red sauce. There were four delicious meatballs in this really rich red marinara type sauce. Delicious. we then ordered a hanger steak to share and the cauliflower as a side. If you planned on eating a lot I wouldn’t share the steak! We planned on ordering lots of dessert so we shared an entrée! The cauliflower was cooked to perfection! I loved it! I’m going to try and replicate it at home(good luck to me). Hanger steak was great too but whatever type of cauliflower topping on the side of the steak was AMAZING. We ended on dessert– we ordered 3. The birthday cake sandwiches(hard to bite into without making a mess) were so tasty and rich. Then the key like pie(had avocado purée that is heavenly– trust. It’s to die. It’s a deconstructed presentation so you are able to get a bite of every flavor all at once). And the we got the(forget the name) Carmel corn popcorn type desert cake.(my least favorite but my bestie loved it), basically the cake was Carmel popcorn in a cake form, tasted like popcorn! It was a great place to eat! Would be a great place for a date too!
