Four of us came here today for a birthday lunch and enjoyed everything from the ambiance to the food. My friend’s mimosa had fresh squeezed orange juice and my Italian coffee had freshly whipped cream, so yummy. We all cleaned our places as everything was so tasty– the farro soup, grilled shrimp with polenta, beet salad, mushroom pasta, and pizza. I wish we had room for dessert– will definitely be returning. Also thanks to Jordan for his attentive, kind service along with the rest of the staff!

Just get the scallops. Skip over any thoughts to get anything other than the scallops. Do not leave without ordering the scallops. I repeat… order the scallops. YUM!

We have a winner! Met a group of friends here last week and was thrilled with how well the evening went. The staff was accommodating for our large party and put us in the front sunroom area. We could hear ourselves talk! The background jazz music was nice and set the ambiance at a nice level. The décor is updated and trendy, but comfortable. Loved it! The food and beverage menu(Gruet Brut Rosé!) was pretty darn great. Everyone found something they liked! There are tons of gluten-free options and some vegetarian options as well. I ordered a few items to try: the crudo, Caesar salad, ad the rigatoni. The crudo was SO good. Definitely would recommend that app if you like salmon. The ceasar was pretty good… not the restaurant’s fault, I just don’t love the grilled taste on the lettuce. And the rigatoni was great! Fresh pomodoro and basil sauce for the win. The service was spot on as well. Our waiter, Jordan, was kind enough to split up the checks for our table of 8 which made closing out much easier. They were attentive, kind, and didn’t make any errors. Woot! I’m looking forward to going back and trying something new!

I met 8 friends at Juliet for happy hour during the third week of January. We got lucky and the lounge area was open so we took over that space. The wait staff were amazing. We had 2 – 3 people working our table at any given time and they were on top of giving great wine recommendations and keeping our water glasses and wine glasses full! We shared several plates, including 3 pizzas, the risotto and some fantastic bread with olive oil tastings. Everything was fantastic. We meet for happy hour every month or two and we have decided that this is one of our favorite places in town. Great food, great service and great ambiance. We’ll be back soon. Big kudos to Juliet’s!

Came here for dinner and made a reservation online. We were going to be a little late, so I tried to go change the reservation but online it only showed openings for 9:30, ours was at 7. So I left it alone. When we got there only half the restaurant was full. I understand that there needs to be room for walk-ins but it was kind of silly. There is plenty of parking in the lot behind the restaurant on Jessie St. as well as additional street paid parking. The front door is actually not on Barton Springs it is near the Patio area. We were seated immediately since we had a reservation, but there wasn’t a wait anyways. On the Antipasti we ordered the Arancini and Gnocchi. The flavor on the gnocchi dish was good, but nothing amazing. The arancini was also so so. We also ordered the Formaggi Pizza, and the lasagne. In addition to a few sides. The only thing that I really liked was the mushroom ragout, the polenta was good with the egg yolk. The dessert was not spectacular either. The service was good. The food was okay, there was nothing that really made an impression on me. We ordered quite a bit of stuff and nothing was outstanding to me. I think there are plenty of other great Italian options in Austin. I wouldn’t recommend this place as a go to or even an option for Italian in Austin.

My wife and I came down from Dallas for a long weekend and she had seen good reviews so we came for brunch along with 2 friends who live in Austin who hadn’t yet tried it. All of us cleaned our plates completely. We shared the smashed fried potatoes which were crisp and enough for all 4 to have a couple bites. I had the pisolino pizze — excellent– thin, soft and fluffy crust and the eggs were perfectly cooked! My wife had the brunch risotto and she loved it, along with an olive oil muffin which I tried and agreed was delicious. Her friends had the shrimp and polenta and grilled vegetable salad and they were a hit. Service was great! 2 of our party didn’t show bc they were sick and 2 of them were late and they didn’t give us a guilt trip, make us wait or move tables or anything. Also highly recommend the Gold Rush cocktail!

This review is late, but we came to Juliet back in July(the day before our baby was born) and had a great time. The service was great and we enjoyed our drinks, meal and dessert. The ambiance was great and it was a really calm, enjoyable experience. We are desperate for a restaurant to survive at this location, and think Juliet is just the restaurant to do so! Glad to have Juliet in our neighborhood and we are looking forward to going back soon!

I’ve had this place on my radar since it opened. It’s a cute little restaurant, very family friendly with sections for larger parties and other sections for more intimate settings. We had a large party so we were in the more well lit room. Service was fast, our waiter had the most fantastic southern drawl(many Matthew McConaughey comparisons were made). The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and made good recommendations. We started with the arancini(stuffed and fried risotto balls) this was the best thing I ate all night. They were delicious. We also had a prosciutto and cheese plate that was pretty good. I ordered the Cappellini e funghi and was unfortunately not too enthralled with my dish — I wanted a bit more sauce and flavor. Overall a good experience but I’ll go back for a better main entrée.

I will start by saying the service was on point. Our waiter was very attentive and gave a good description of the menu the items we asked about. The food on the other hand was a at most ok. Now that being said it doesn’t include the desserts cause those where actually really good . I also find it extremely hilarious when someone that obviously has a high standing in the restaurant calls things by the wrong name all nite. There was this lady all dressed up acting a tad conceited helping deliver some of the dishes to each table such as cheese and wine in particular that made us crack up. We over heard her twice tell some tables that the cheese plate was served with a fig«mustardo». At first I was hesitant to laugh but the second time she said it I almost spit my beer out. Mustardo is another word for mustard by itself. I’m pretty sure she meant MUSTARDA which is an Italian condiment made of fruit preserve or dried fruit and mustard mix usually Dijon or even just mustard seed depending where you go. I’m not one to correct people cause we all make mistakes but the way she carried herself and said it with such confidence just added to the hilarious ignorance. I see this a lot in trendy spots all over Austin. My ossobuco a classic Italian dish was ruined by the over powering taste of cloves. First of all I’ve never heard of putting cloves in ossobuco. This dish is supposed to be braised veal shank in veal stock tomato purée or paste, mirepoix and a sache or bouquet garni. Then the stock once the veal is done being braised is reduced till nappe as a sauce over the top of the veal. Not cloves mixed with thick spaghetti sauce ! Even if it was their own little twist, why ruin it with tons of cloves? There are so many other flavor profiles they could have gone with. Furthermore $ 46 for two people to share this plate was not realistic it was a very small portion for two adults. I’d be embarrassed getting this to share if I where on a first date. Any regular size adult could have devour this on their own no problem, maybe even a small chubby seven year old could knock this plate out. This dish was paired with spätzle which I thought was awesome I love some good spätzle, nope I was wrong ! They went all out to ruin this plate. Sadly it was over sautéed and some where so burnt they got dry and bitter. I would not recommend this dish at all. My wife’s dish was a lot better she got carrot risotto with chicken and black garlic pure very well made. The dessert had to be the best course at Juliet they must have an awesome pastry Chef cause it was way better than all the food put together. The waiter comped our dessert because of the ossobuco taking to long to prepare according to him. I think it’s cause someone in the back actually tasted it and realized they made a mistake who knows. Funny enough the only thing we got free was coincidently the only thing I’d be willing to pay for or even recommend. This is one of those places people hype up cause it’s trendy!

We decided why not try Juliet out. So dropped in for dinner and to start off we had the fried calamari, red fish and lemon and that was ok. We also tried the olive oil tasting where they give you 3 different oils one labeled Texas, California, and Chile however they all tasted the same. Then for our main courses we ordered their osso bucco pork with saffron spaetzle and gremolata along with the Carota risotto e pollo. Now the osso bucco was covered with a sauce that had way too much clove, the spaetzle was sautéed a little too long and my fiancé said that the pork was a bit on the dry side. However the chicken and risotto dish was very good, that black garlic paste though #yummy. Because we brought to their attention that the osso bucco had flaws, they gave us dessert on the house. So we ordered the tiramisu(tasty) and a scoop of the cinnamon toast gelato I highly recommend both. I give two thumbs up to their pastry chef! So my favorite part of this whole experience was the dessert, oh and the Chianti

Brunch at Juliet! I heard from the waiter that brunch is a fairly new concept for the ristorante. We went on a rainy day, it added a splash of sunshine to our morning. When we walked in it was near empty of customers so I took a look around and it has a very nice ambiance. I love the design of the chairs and the décor. The food was good and the coffee was strong! I had the French toast w/a side of prosciutto. My date had shrimp and polenta, mmm. I cannot wait to go back for happy-hour.

I don’t understand why this place doesn’t get better reviews. It’s fantastic. Cocktails are great. Ambiance is great. Food is great. What’s the problem? Get the pulpo and gnocchi. And lots of great cocktails and wine.

This is seriously one of the best patios in town! For that, I add a serious star. The patio is *that* good, people! This seems like a great place to have happy hour with some coworkers, and enjoy the brief fall we have here in the Lone Star State. I really enjoyed the salmon crudo and the salami — but both seemed fairly expensive given the portion size. I know, I know, these are expensive ingredients — but the quantities seemed small compared to similar places in town. The pasta we had was underwhelming, but I brought some lasagna home to my husband and he really liked it. I think if you enjoy such things, the wine list is quite extensive. It was a bit confusing to me that the patio looked so modern/clean, but part of the back of the restaurant is kind of closed off/diner-y. I think if you’re looking for drinks, a great outdoor patio, and an awesome location — this is the place to be! Not my favorite for a serious dinner, but I’d be happy to go back and try some more.

It’s a nice place. Yes it’s a nice place, nicest on Barton Springs Road for what it’s worth. Actually slightly upscale, civilized. Nice patio with not cheap furniture, good mister fans and overall pleasant. Everything we ate was also good, but… The menu — seriously where’s the meat or any protein. Very little of it. The menu is small. Pizza, pasta a few apps and snacks and a of couple animal proteins. The wine list has some nice depth in Italy and France at OK prices. Happy hour was decent with some discounts on cocktails, appetizers and glasses of wine. Nothing Earth shattering but appreciated. It was very pleasant and no complaints except the small menu selection mostly carbs and a bit pricey for what they had. 3.5 rounding to 4 because it is the best around and nicest around. Worth a visit with realistic expectations.

One of the most beautiful restaurants in Austin. They must have spent 1 million dollars. Also, The worst restaurant experience I’ve had in Austin. Say what? Didn’t you just read how much it looks like they spent to serve suprisingly bad food? Came for a birthday dinner. Was seating promptly after realizing I made my reservation for the wrong day. Ooops! That was a solid move, thank you Juliet! Ordered an app and two entrees. Realized pretty quickly that when the three tables that came in before us were served food that they completely lost our order. Our waiter realized this and kept avoiding our table. Finally, he comes and apologizes. Over 15 minutes later, no food. After that, a manager comes and says they lost our order and it will be coming our shortly. An hour after ordering, our food arrives and it’s literally horrible. The ravioli is hard and the sauce on my carbonara was just awful(and cold btw!). By this time I know the food is free(the manager kindly comped our meal for the wait) and I still can’t eat it. So me, self annoited foodie, can’t eat the free food because it’s just not good? How can this be. We ditched our free meal, left a cash tip for the waiter and headed to Sway to have a proper and delicious birthday meal. I sure hope this gorgeous place gets their act together… although with an experience like I had, I can’t imagine going back to give it another shot.

I was about to plot the address for this place when I read a note from Keri B to the effect of it being located in that ill-fated block. Ill-fated. Barton Springs. Oh oh oh, I know the place. I started to worry: was I about to be in for a disappointment or a mouth surprise? It’s the latter, people. It is good. The food was a delight and above and beyond that of the predecessors to this space. During happy hour our large group ordered all manner of things: – the abundant cheese plate that came with bread no one wanted to admit they wanted to eat – several pizze, of which we all agreed the salsicce was a winner – the fritto di mare, which had a lush variety of delicately fried seafood and very tender calamari – the pesce crudo, of which you should order 5 They also have no issue satisfying you in the adult beverage department. I stuck to hefeweizen for the evening, but observed eyes rolling back between sips of the classic house cocktails with names like Rose Collins and Savage Henry. It made me feel like I should know and befriend these people. If you want to take someone out for a drink in the area, this is the surprise place to do it. Juliet hires beautiful people to wander the restaurant. Some of them even work as hostesses, waiters and waitresses, possibly all waiting with beautiful skin for their big break. If you’re going to make it in for happy hour, and your group is large and raucous, it may be difficult to accommodate you all in the bar area. We, however, found a way because good things happen to loud people. Our waitress was ever patient in helping us make it so. I’ll go back for dinner to verify that 5th star like a shiny drag queen glistening against the night sky.

I’ve read the other reviews about Juliet and they do seem a bit mixed. However, I had a nice time during my recent visit. We went for happy hour, which they have every day(yay). The inside bar area was pretty crowded, but they said that they serve happy hour on the little chairs and couch in the lounge area too, so we decided to sit there(our only option other than outside). As a side note, when we were leaving, they did have the fan misters on outside, so that could have been a viable option. Like others have said, the restaurant itself is gorgeous. It’s also a good sized place. They have a bar area with bar seating(duh) and tables, as well as a lounge, multiple dining areas, outdoor bar and outdoor tables. On top of that, they have 3 different parking lots for Juliet patrons only, which came in handy, since it was pretty crowded. 2 of the lots were actually already full. I ordered a glass of rose brut, since rose is half off(glasses only) during happy hour. We then proceeded to order one basilica pizza to share. It was a cheese pizza with basil on top. I usually prefer fresh slices of mozzarella instead of shredded, but that’s just my preference and the pizza was still pretty tasty. For dessert, we had the Crostata di Cioccolato. Fantastic. You can definitely taste the lemon though, so if you’re not a fan of lemon, get something else.

This building got its sexy back! Juliet with its vaulted ceilings and 1960’s Italian inspired décor is absolutely gorgeous. I met up with Heather F for dinner here a few weeks ago. We arrived in time to enjoy a couple drinks during happy hour(which is in the bar only) before being seated for dinner. The vast patio is covered and has its own bar. Upon walking into the the restaurant you are greeted with a breath taking view with accents of marble, venetian plaster, brass fixtures, leather Gucci style panels at the bar and a stunning vaulted ceiling. The culinary team is impressive with chefs formerly of Café Josie, Asti and the pastry chef Carly is formerly of Easy Tiger(and yes she is baking some delicious bread in the kitchen). Robert Millican has done a fabulous job developing an exciting bar menu to include negroni 7 ways, 60+ Italian wines(also other worldly wines are available) and a craft cocktail menu that is sure to impress. I started off with two of their rose wines at the bar as during happy hour all rose wines are ½ off! For dinner I opted for the scallops with saffron risotto and Heather ordered a pasta dish. While we waited for our entrees we decided to order the delightful pesce crudo. The crudo is sliced sushi grade salmon, a light drizzle of garlic oil, topped with fried capers, salted almonds and fresh arugula. I would definitely order this dish again! We were also brought a bread basket with a variety of fresh chewy bread and whipped butter. Their bread as you can imagine with Carly on the team is wonderful. The scallops came out perfectly seared and the decadent saffron risotto melted in my mouth. It was served with their brightly flavored grapefruit salsa and steamed asparagus. I tasted Heather’s dish of Fettucine e Vongole which had littleneck clams, basil, white wine, calabrese chili and reggiano. I liked the simple yet tasty dish and the clams were perfectly cooked. Both the pasta and the risotto were salty but this is a good thing in my opinion. Happy hour is 7 days a week from 3pm-7pm in the bar are only. Specials include ½ off all rose wines, $ 7 cocktails, $ 5 house wines, $ 4 draft beer and a nice variety of discounted antipasti, formaggi and salumi.
