JR’s BBQ Trailer

This place is as authentic as it gets. I stepped over a child playing on the floor as I walked in. Service was friendly but they seemed a little surprised to have customers. I think most folks order at the window. Catfish was the special and it was among the best I have tasted. Fries were forgettable. The beans here are special. They have some kick and made the trip worthwhile. Mustard potato salad was good. I also ordered brisket and sausage. Both were cold. sausage was sweet and the sauce was tangy. Brisket was fatty and smokey. I truly hope I caught them on a bad day because this place could be so much better.

I hate to give a negative review, because I agree with all the other reviewers as to the kindness of the owners, the authentic feel of the place, and the reasonable prices. But I just can’t recommend the food. The brisket and pork ribs were indistinguishable from one another – neither had any flavor and, while juicy, the meat just didn’t seem to be very high quality.
Beyond that, there’s really nothing more to talk about. If you ask for a water they surprise you with a $ 1.25 bottle of Ozarka. The sweet tea is Lipton Brisk poured into a styrofoam cup. I’m almost certain the potato salad was purchased from HEB, but I could be wrong.
So, when the only truly authentic about the place was flavorless, I have to go with 2 stars. Nonetheless, you do get the satisfaction of helping a local business and enjoying the pleasant atmosphere, so I wouldn’t unequivocally strike it off your bingo card.

Place was great, took credit cards, and super friendly. Not just a trailer anymore, they have a dining room inside.

this place is great! they give you a lot of food for not alot of pay. the owners are a treat to talk to and you can tell they really care about what they do. it’s a great spot for lunch as it’s ALSO nice because not too many people know about it so it’s nice as quiet.

Well, I am not the first to review… but second.
OK…Lets just start out by saying that this place is the real deal. I have a feeling it will be catching on soon.
I wanted the ½ chicken but they had a line through it. They said they didn’t have it today but it would be returning. I opted for the chopped beef sandwich for $ 2.25. It was large, meaty and tender. Delicious! It came standard with onion and pickle. I also ordered the potato salad for $ 1. Quite tastey.
The prices on some of the items have gone up since the picture was taken shown on their review page. Some of the items like the ribs are $ 1 more. Still very reasonable.
They treat you like family at this place. Unbelievable friendly.
