Well, well well. Mr. Johnson. First of all, I was preparing to drive 3,000 miles and asked the head mechanic if he could take a look, make sure she’d make it. He did, thoroughly, then told me I’d need brakes but not yet, «give ‘em about 6 months and we’ll see.» Time passed and when it came to replace the brakes — among other things — I wouldn’t take it anywhere else. Dropped it off and three days later, the jobs were done and the car runs great. He saved me money whenever possible and was, as always, a pleasure to interact with.

I’ve visited Zack for a number of issues over the years. He has installed roll bars in Miatas, unstuck rusted bolts, and did spark plugs on our Subaru. I do a lot of work myself but it’s nice to know I have a trusted mechanic just in case I screw something up.

After having been in Mexico for 8 months, I knew my truck needed some love from sitting around in the Texas hear for so long. I took it to Zack at Johnson Automotive and he quickly gave it a fluid change, fixed some rogue electrical problems that I had forgotten about (but were super annoying), and did it all at an extremely fair price.
Zack is the type of mechanic you dream about finding: friendly, honest, and extremely knowledgeable. He can basically fix anything you bring in with a motor; school buses, rock crawlers, a boat, and your momma’s Civic. Top it off with just being an awesome dude in general.
I won’t be taking my vehicles anywhere else!

Zack Johnson of Johnson Automotive is one of those very rare finds: an honest mechanic who does what he promises on time and on budget. Zack has been working on my various cars for years. From Miatas to old muscle cars to trucks he has always *always* kept me on the road.
He just moved to a new location on Industrial Blvd so he’s even easier to find. He did my turbo Miata’s timing belt and hoses etc recently and I got to watch him do a little of the work. He is meticulous and careful and keeps things neat and tidy. He finished on time and my car ran better than new!
If you believe in keeping your business local and letting local folks treat you right then I totally recommend Johnson Automotive. He’ll take great care of your car and you’ll know that you were treated right.
Bonus: Zack is a HUGE car guy. He is currently building a ’67 Camaro with like, a bazillion horsepower (something in the neighborhood of 1000 hp — you read that right– 1000) and you can see what fantastic work he does. He knows imports and domestics alike. So go already! :)
