John’s Appliance Repair

John was recommended to me by a neighbor, so I decided to give him a call for my leaking fridge about a month ago. John’s work is quick and of good quality. He was able to immediately diagnose a broken part that needed to be replaced and was causing my fridge to leak all over the kitchen floor as well as stopped the water dispenser from working. He had the part with him in his truck. His prices seemed reasonable, but I didn’t have any other quotes from other service companies to compare with. He charged me the price of the part plus $ 100 for the labor. It probably took him about 30 – 45 minutes for the whole visit including looking for the problem. He even recommended a local place in town where I could buy appliance parts myself in the future if it was a small DIY fix.
It was a little difficult to get in touch with him and schedule an appointment the first time I called him (which is the only reason I docked a star). Took several emails and calls, but we were finally able to set up an appointment. He informed me that he does work on the weekends, and he doesn’t charge extra for work then.
I just called him again today because the water dispenser on my freezer door stopped working again. It was much easier to get in touch with him this time. He walked me through testing the line myself over the phone and was able to determine that the line had just gotten frozen up and needed to be defrosted. I’m sure he could have made a service call for this and charged me to diagnose it himself, but he saved me the money by teaching me how to do it over the phone. I would definitely recommend him as he seems like a pretty honest and friendly guy to me.
