It’s weird being stared at when looking at the menu. Happens every time. It would be nice to give customers a little space to look at the menu and not feel rushed because the cashier is RIGHTTHERE waiting for the order.

I feel sad giving such a low rating but today Jimmy John’s earned it. I’ve ordered Jimmy Johns to be delivered to my work multiple times with no issues. Today I ordered and hadn’t received my food about an hour later so I called. They said they didn’t have a phone number for me so they didn’t try to deliver the sandwich. My confirmation page clearly had my phone number and department in the hospital listed. They said they’d come in 20 minutes now that they had my phone number(which they already had…). Ten minutes later they called back to ask for my credit card number since they had canceled the original order. At this point– I didn’t want to deal with their dysfunction any longer and canceled the order. The staff member was not apologetic and rather dismissive. Disappointing!

I’m done with Jimmy John’s(this location in particular). There have been two price increases this year, and now my sandwich, chips, and small drink runs over $ 10. But the final straw was today(9÷30÷15 right before noon), the cashier overcharged me by a dime(did not get a discount for buying the chips and drink). I wasn’t concerned with the dime, but when I saw my receipt and informed the worker, he basically did not respond(and he never offered«I’m sorry»; literally there are robots with more personality). Yes I sound like a cranky 80 year old, but it is truly the principle of the thing; I expect some kind of apology when that happens. I have spent over $ 700 at this location over the last two years, and usually the employees are very nice, but this in combination with the price increases are the final straws. Farewell Jimmy John’s!

The sandwiches are average cold cut sandwiches. Jimmy Johns has always been less about the perfect sandwich, and more about getting a decent sandwich to the right place at the right time. The convenience factor elevates Jimmy Johns to well above average. It takes less than 10 minutes to receive a sandwich in hand even well after midnight. It’s a great alternative to the other options available to drunk folk on campus after midnight(which consist of pizza, burgers or donuts)

First time eating at JJ. Not real impressed. I guess it’s okay for a quick sandwich but we’d have been better served going elsewhere.

Sandwiches – solid, fresh ingredients, etc. Most of the employees are on point and have a good attitude. However, this review is not about the food. I wish I could write a glowing review but one particular employee(management – if they even read these reviews – will probably know who I am referring to) totally dampens on the whole experience. The past two times I’ve been to this location, said employee spoke on and on about how he is a demon, he has tried to kill himself(he then lifted his shirt to show scars from self-inflicted wounds), and how he plans to kill himself. Pretty heavy for a sandwich run, huh. I’m no shrink, but I know enough about psychology to say this dude can easily be diagnosed as manic, bipolar, and schizophrenic. I really feel for the guy. Suicide is certainly not appropriate conversation for a sandwich shop(or any business outside the scope of mental health). I really hope he gets the help he needs. I listened intently and tried to sway the conversation to something more positive – the other employees were amused and chuckled. I’m amazed they put up with it and furthermore, shocked the management puts up with it. I’m not saying this guy should be fired because doing so might aggravate his symptoms but whoever is in charge should seriously consider requiring some mental help for this guy if he is to continue holding a job.

Uhhhhh??? I don’t know why all these people are giving this particular JJ’s one star. #1 I go there way too much because it’s close and fast, I have NEVER been dis respected EVER by any of the staff. And honestly the people below who said they were«rude» were probably the ones that were rude. #2 it’s a freakin JIMMYJOHNS haha I mean come on guys, they don’t have stale bread, the food is JUSTASGOOD as it’s always been. Long of the short, if you like JJ’s this one is just as good as any other

TERRIBLE. Stale bread and soggy, mealy veg every time I’ve been to this location. They are the WORST. I’d rather eat compost. If the only thing you have going for you is fresh ingredients, then you’d better not eff that up. The dudes are jerks in there too and they don’t listen and eff up my order every time even if I try to talk over their sighing, shitty music and eye rolling. They don’t give a shit there! Never again. I’ll spend my calories elsewhere. The MLK location is fine for what it is but the red river location blows my mind how bad it is. Zero f*cks given in that joint.

Easily the worst JJ’s I have been to. A battle with the apathetic staff over salt and pepper. Nothing wrong with being good to the customer, just guess it’s not cool or hip. Laughably the last time I eat here.

If you need a sandwich this is not the place to get it. It regularly takes an hour for them to deliver. There are much netted options.

Jimmy John’s is my favorite to eat late at night. They are open till very late and they deliver. Subs are good. I recommend the Italian club. They delivery very fast and the prices are reasonable for the food that you are getting.

I’ve ordered from JJ’s in the past and have always been pleased. Today, however, made me rethink whether I should order from them again. I placed an order via app at 1225a. Got my confirmation email at 1234a. Sub was never delivered, so I called. Guy answers me and pretty much has no idea about my order. Guy xfer’s me to another guy who answers the phone by saying«what’s up». As if we know each other. Guy corrects himself and checks on order. Says it’s on it’s way. Sub gets to me at about 120a. Check it, and I’m missing my chips. No fault to the delivery guy, he’s not the packager of the meals, he just delivers. He calls back to inquire about the chips and they hang up on him. He calls back and they give him attitude. I felt sorry for him. Delivery guy says he’ll go back and get my chips. That trip took a while because he didn’t get back to me till 220a. Needless to say, I was not eating my meal till 2 hrs after I placed the order. That was not cool at all.

Great sandwiches. Quick to be made. Always full of flavor. Never been disappointed here, and they always get their order right. The dudes who work here seem like nice people. Usually go late at night, isn’t very crowded at this location.

I went to a landfill once with my father. One thing I remember was the birds. There was a massive flock of birds that circled the garbage. Birds would descend, gather a piece of garbage, and then return to the flock circling above. I remember being horrified that the birds were eating society’s refuse. I will never eat jimmy johns again. The last time I ate a sandwich from this place, it literally induced a gag reflex. Before this experience, I had eaten jimmy johns a handful of times – it was very close to campus and was cheap. I actually had a positive experience here: they had a special event where they offered $ 1 sandwiches. To pay $ 1 for a sandwich felt good, no matter how subpar the food was. That was when I thought this place was just another subway. How foolish of me. This place doesn’t hold a candle to subway. The business model of jimmy johns doesn’t allow for as much customer choice as subway. Why? It’s because they think their recipes for sandwiches are better than what you can create yourself. You know, at any respectable restaurant that would be fine. In fact, any respectable restaurant could actually pull off a jimmy johns recipe better than jimmy johns. After all how bad can a Turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, and avocado be? Pretty horrible, evidently. I ordered such a sandwich on French bread. Fine as long as the food satisfied my hunger. It was immediately after the forced second bite when my mouth convulsed. The bread was soggy. The turkey and cheese tasted dry and old. The onions and tomato were slimy and warm. Disgusting. Was I a jerk on the phone or something? I disappointedly cast the sandwich into the trash. Perhaps a landfill bird ate it. I hope for its sake that it knew better.

Subs are great, but delivery time is a total toss up – even between semesters. I finally called after waiting for about an hour and a half for my order and they said that the delivery guy got to my building and realized he forgot his bike lock… tried to call but I didn’t answer. My phone never rang. I asked why they hadn’t called my work number(that I had included on my online delivery) and they said it just hadn’t shown up. Then there was silence… I finally said, «Well, I have already paid for my order… can I get my sandwich?» 30 minutes later my sandwich arrived(2 hours after I ordered it). I had ordered avocado spread instead of cheese and they included about ½ teaspoon of spread at the very end of the sandwich. Le sigh. I have learned my lesson. This location is not for me.

So it’s Monday night @ 9:50 after a long work day and evening event the husband and I want a quick reliable go to place to grab some take out. We live out in East East Austin so it’s about a 25-minute drive to get home. After picking me up from the UT area, we decided Jimmy Johns is hearty and reliable. The guy even informs us they are open until 3am, to which the husband responds, great this might have to be our new location. After the trek home, we both bite into our subs and are immediately disappointed. The bottom of the bun is rock hard and since its well after 10pm and we have not desire to go back into town, we peel the bottom half off. I like crunch but that’s what chips are for. Let’s just say that our #8 and #9 left much to be desired and reliability of a go to favorite questionable

Jimmy John’s are practically everywhere, but this one is «mine.» This location is one of the easiest places for me to procure an «I really don’t want to cook» or «I have zero groceries» meal. It doesn’t hurt that I love the sandwiches, especially the bread. Yeah yeah yeah I am mostly doing paleo, and bread, any bread, is a ‘no-no,’ but fortunately I don’t try to eat paleo or low carb even if I’m spending the cash to eat out. Their bread smells like heaven and I can’t help myself. I also have a thing for their jalapeño chips, and I usually resist chips wherever I am. I get the #12 beach club, and my one complaint with my beloved sandwich is that they used to have sprouts on them. The menu board still lists sprouts as ingredient, but it has got to have been at least a year since I had a #12 with sprouts. The sandwich guy I asked once said they had a distributor problem or something. Right. And I have to be honest with you that my other half, good judge of most things that he is, really does not care for JJ. He calls it a «bread and lettuce sandwich» because they really do use a lot of lettuce(I love lettuce), and there’s not as much meat as he’d like and tons of bread(the best bread ever so I don’t know he doesn’t like this). Whatever, they’re delicious and if he wants to cook us dinner, then we can skip the«I don’t want to cook dinner Jimmy John’s» and we’ll eat whatever he can make. Oh, that’s right. So we’ll back. ;) This store really is «freaky fast» nine times out of 10, and I’d skip the cookie if I were you. There are better ones out there.

I only just discovered JJ recently as equipment sales reps have been trying to woo our business with lunch. It’s not Ruth Chris, but for a super quick and fresh tasting lunch, yeah, I’ll buy what you’re sellin. Here’s my favorite part of the whole deal: the ordering process. I have discovered their nutritional content page that enables you to see exactly what you are about to shovel in your mouth, and me, trying to slim down and not waste that 600 calories burned at the gym that day, I will spend 10 minutes on this page playing with calories, carbs and protein. Hmmm, take off the mayo and add viniagerette… nooo, take off the vinaigrette and add avocado… add provolone… take provolone off and add cherry peppers… take French bread off and add 7 grain wheat bread… whoa there’s a 100 more calories and 17 g more carbs in THAT… subtract wheat bread and go back to that eye rollin, doughy so criminally yummy French bread(YES!!)… And then… and thennnnn, I get to write it all out for the sales reps to order it for me. I’m just glad Bön Qui Qui doesn’t wok here!(«I have a complicated order… secoority! ) : Turkey Tom with French bread sub NO mayo, no lettuce(blech iceburg), no tomatoes(blech tomatoes) ADD avocado, and cherry peppers and oh what the hell I need the dairy, add the provolone bitch! And now my sammie is a whole 435 calories and 30 g protein. Such is my life these days, weighing, calculating, and stratigizing. JJ’s makes it so easy and fun for me. And this sandwich is GOOD! Even better, I can feel even more superior to my POS coworker who always orders the Gargantuan at 1000 calories. Yeah it looks good, but with your bad ticker, you are one step closer to the grave mister… wait, go on ahead and order two! :)

The hook: «Subs so fast you’ll freak!» I needed a quick lunch for two while waiting for an outpatient surgery to complete across the street at St. David’s Hospital. Jimmy John’s was much closer than the hospital’s own cafeteria buried in the bowels of its basement. So I gave it a try. Here’s what I found: Atmosphere: Lunch busy. Basic tables and two register/food prep serving lines. Not too crowded, but rapid and constant business. A bit on the loud side. Service: Uninspired. Ho hum attitude that would make any civil servant seem downright helpful in comparison. I’ve seen sand with more personality. Lightning fast order taking and sandwich delivery. «To go» is you bag it yourself. Don’t forget the napkins. Food: Basic sub sandwiches. Promised ingredients, built to order, neither awesome nor awful. Hit the spot. Excellent house-brand jalapeño chips, decent chocolate chip cookie. Prices: OK, I guess. $ 12.60 for two sandwiches(ironically, #1 and #2), one bag of chips, and one cookie, no beverages. Seemed a little pricey for the basic food they delivered. Having said all this, why three stars, you ask? Jimmy John’s delivered on their metric and promise. The sandwiches were ready so fast, I freaked. And that was a good thing on this day when time was of the essence.
